Maybe Jacko didn't provide anything on the pitch (well, except the assist for the sole, winning goal but thats just window dressing right?) but in terms of leadership, determination and dedication he is second to none at the club. That counts for just as much, if not more, than a few fancy flicks or a sprint down the wing, at the very least at this level and IMO Championship too.
Was clearly knackered second half. However in the first half did the following:
- Set up our goal - Forced their keeper into a great save with an excellent shot from the box - Headed a decent chance wide - Had a jinking run into their box, almost creating a goal - Cut back onto his right foot and produced a peach of a cross that Yann almost converted
Apart from his Quality first half performance and his poor second half performance ( like most of our XL ) yeah he is awful how dare he play like that how dare Chris Powell play him strip him of his captaincy a sack Chris Powell shocking behaviour... F**KING 91 points clear at the top and your still moaning give it a rest!
he doesn't have to be fit , the league is utter tripe and an unfit jacko was good enough to help us towards a result there are only 3 decent teams in this league and huddersfield
it's a pub league
as stated above a decent first half /non existant second half is how i viewed him
Jackson was clearly not fully fit and didn't have a great game but shows quality when needed. He set up a goal and links up well with Wiggins. Jackso plays nice first time balls into space for wiggins to run onto and did it 3-4 times today. Makes intelligent runs towards the far post. I agree pace might be a problem next year but if wiggins can do his running and his use of the ball should solve that problem. can play at left back or centre mid.
Its been a long season and today there were a couple of poor performances but we are where we are because we are and have quality at this level, judge players after 46 games not after 2 games in 3 days when you expect players to look tired. Cant we just enjoy being 8 points clear with 12 to play for???? 3 teams can now go up and we are in a strong position so enjoy!!!!!!!!
If people want to moan, moan about lack of ball boys, linesmen being scared to give decisions etc, this squad has hardly conceded ago and matched or bettered most wins in a season, most away wins, most points, best goal difference, least goals conceded, clean sheets so give them all a break and enjoy!!
Its not that bad Olster. This for example is one of those threads. But it is surrounded by hundreds of others. Sadly, nature makes thisstand out more.
I know how frustrating it is, but just learn to skim read everything that way you won't be disappointed with the stupid posts. When you see a poster name you respect, or a snippet of something that looks more interesting, then start to read a bit more studiously.
I'd offer that advice to everyone.
Completely agree with you.
Apologies @AFKABartram, I know how much hard work you put into this site and what a good job you do...
Wasn't trying to overly slate CL, it's on the most part excellent, and has become many people's first port of call for Charlton news online. It is however frustrating when you want to revel in what sounded like another excellent victory today...and instead there are three pages of bickering because some one HAS to find a gripe to pick; it just leaves a bit of a bad taste.
I always wonder whether it's our fan base (would you hear these sorts of things coming out of the valley today?), whether it's football fans in general or whether it's because we're all hidden behind screens...It's not just this website that has this sort of issue going on mind...
Gonna still try and give the site a bit of a miss the next few weeks - exams coming up will thank me for it.
Complete waste of time playing Jacko, he's either injured or clearly not match fit. A waste of a position
Phil, you are wrong & that is the most stupid post you have ever made. Jackson had an excellent 1st half, in fact I'd go as far as to say, it was one of his best halves for Charlton. He put through some beautiful balls for Wiggy to run onto. He set up the goal & pulled a very good save out of the keeper. Yes, he was clearly knackered 2nd half. So what, sub him, he'd made an excellent contribution with Hollands out. Very poor & unnecessary post :-(

Admittedly, on a sober free Tuesday morning it was uneccessary. Was just one of those things I notice but it didnt need highlighting...
I havn't smoked for a month you know
ps: also i should have entitled the post "playing injured players" rather than "drop jacko"...most people dont bother reading the original post or the subsequent comments and probably thought i was having a dig at him rather when i was actually saying i would have preferred to see a match fit player and give jackson a few more days to recover for carlisle
