Decent player. When he was with us last time, I noticed that he did have a decent touch/cross on him when he wanted to. Sort of player who plays with a foreign flair about him.
It is strange though how we didn't just bring back Hogan Ephraim from the same club. Would be interested to know the reason behind why that was. He wasn't a groundbreaking player but had his head in the right place and contributed.
Either way, I think Cook will be sufficient.
Good work by Powell to get all of this sorted out now before Thursday.
Should have followed the Danny Haynes/Danny Green route and got Jamal Campbell Ryce back at the Valley : - )
Great shout on campbell ryce. I reckon Cook'll do well as cover for Jackson though, no idea bout the n'guessyean guy- absolutely clueless on how to spell his name despite having just read it
Nice one, Davey .....I'm in Cornwall's forgotten corner, just inland from Whitsand Bay.
lovely part of Cornwall Oggy, and just about the proper side of the Tamar! Happily exiled in Greenwich makes it a damn sight easier to get to the The Valley, and here's hoping it'll be a short but worthwhile trip this evening with either of the new boys given a chance by the crowd if they feature!!!
On Friday talking to an old CAFC mate two things which we 100% agreed on: 1) Stunning to be 9 points clear. 2) 23(now 25) players brought in by Powell and the vast majority are either good signings or can do a job at this level.
Only a few people know why we got Clarke and Swindon got Benson,, maybe a money thing their side? He was cover and thats all-----Hayes is a better player
Ephram,i would like to see him come back, but he said himself he wanted to come to us (before) to get match fit. If we cant give him games then why would he come?
Underwelmed with the two new guys but point 2 above Powell hasnt got much wrong re his signings, and Tevez wouldnt get a start with us so turned us own.
I was living away in geordieland the last time he played for us so never saw any of his performances so can't comment on them. I for one hope he does well for us as he shares the same surname as me and would hate to see a cook playing badly in a charlton shirt. ;-)
Just hope that folks give him the benefit of the doubt over previous performances of 5 years ago. He's now fit and at 29, probably playing at his peak. So any of the haters out there, please don't boo him. Save that for the forums.........................

Powell said Ephraim wanted to go back as they had a new manager (Mark Hughes) and he wanted to try & impress. I'm confident Powell would have tried for Ephraim, but he probably didn't want to return for the reason stated. If QPR are relegated Ephraim will likely earn a new contract there. If they stay up, he may move on, perhaps to us ?
As for Cook. He was poor last time, in a very poor team. However, he wasn't fit & it showed.
Let's wipe the slate & give him our encouragement.
We all need to pull together or the wheels could fall off.
The longer I have thought about it the more positive I am .
It wasn't that he was so bad four years ago but our club was in freefall and he was one of the loanees which almost became a by word for our decline . He was also didn't endear himself to the Addickted to celebrate in the way he did against us in the 2-2 Boxing Day game when he scored for QPR although to be fair to Cook he had taken some abuse from us that day.
Jamal Campbell-Ryce has joined Leyton Orient on loan and like Hogan Ephraim is right footed ,although Hogan was effective for us we certainly lost the balance Jacko gives us . In contrast Cook is a genuine leftie and more direct than Jacko so offers something different to other senior first team players at the club .

Surprisingly Ephraim did not make the 25 man squad but has already penned a new one year contract at Loftus Road ,R's fans seem to think that Hughes has done this to hedge his bets about being in the Chapionship next season .
The only justification for this can be that Jackson is carrying injuries that will not clear up before the end of the season. I wish him all the best this time around and hope that he is older, wiser and a more mature player

Correct. I meant that he would be looking for a further contract with them as he only has a year left.
9 games left he is just here for cover in case jj isn't fit...would like to see wiggins pushed to LM and evina played at LB if jj is injured, but powell knows what is wright for the team.
just hope fans don't boo if he doesn't score in first 15 min, like leon clarke.

I think it's a great signing as cover.
If so I must be the only person here who thought he was pretty decent! (although admittedly only saw him once)
Either way, I think Cook will be sufficient.
