  • Jordan is 22, he moved from the family home in Ipswich to a hotel room in Huddersfield when he was 18 so I don't think he would be scared to move down south as he has been moved all over and I can say Grayson is now finding his best 11 as the players are coming back from injury.
  • I would not rule it out, though it will all depend on how much Hudders need to sell if they don't go up, and what agreements there were with Rhodes in Jan when he signed his new contract in not keeping him back.

He is a class.act that needs to.challenge himself now at a higher level. I doubt we would.be his first choice as a club, but don't underestimate what a factor it becomes when a club is on the up. whixh we clearly are. Word I'm sure will be filtering around football that this is a very happy club with a good, player-supportive manager who is doing things right.

The amount of opportunities Kermorgant created for BWP in the 2nd half of the season, Rhodes would have had us with the.league under our belt a month earlier.
  • Pilkington is an exTerrier who has proved a big success in the Premier. With strikers there is so much pressure. Three games without a goal and the fans are on your back .. 'What a waste of money' etc etc
  • EmmaK, still don't think grayson is the man to get the best out of Rhodes. I wonder where Rhodes see's himself in a few years? Still at under achieving udders, or destined for bigger a better things? I don't think a move to the prem would be good for him, a move south to us in the championship would be awesome, and it's nearer his family home in Ipswitch then where he currently plays.
  • No cos his family moved to Huddersfield lol.. In a few years he probably sees him self being alot more succesful in football and probably capped international player for scotland not in a friendly
  • is he your boyfriend emma or are you his stalker ?

.......only if he moves to a better club than udders though!

    i'm his stalker..lol

    i'm his stalker..lol
well the next time you see him......tell him to sign for us!

  • True Bing , what you say makes perfect sense , but do you think Rhodes would help sign a few more season tickets up?
Yes - I can see that but players signed too expensively to get the season tickets up have a habit of not working as you would like. I think back to the days of Allan Simonsen for example.

Oh I would love us to sign him - maybe he will go for less than we think. I can't help feeling that his second half of the season (bar the last few games) will have put some 000's onto his value.
We were getting 4k gates and little other revenue when we bought Simonsen, and paid him £1500 a week. That's the same as the average League one salary now, but 30 years ago. He was almost certainly one of the highest paid players in the country.

It might be more comparable to Clive Mendonca you know. At the time £700k was a huge amount of money for us, but Murray found it and the rest is history. When Mendonca joined us he had a record of a goal roughly every 2.5 games, and improved that to 1 in 2 as he shot us to play off success. Rhodes, at the age of 22, has just 11 goals fewer than Mendonca had when he joined us, but has played half the games.

Yes Rhodes goals have been at a lower level, but no deal will be £5m up front and if he fired us to the Premiership it might be viewed as a bargain. I think his all round game gives him every chance to be a top level striker, and if the Mysterons were prepared to dig into their pockets it might be a very decent gamble.
I repeat that I would be very happy if we signed him. If you use Super Clive as an example, he was a big gamble which did pay off, he was also relatively unknown at a club which was not pulling up any trees. £700K was big money for us, I don't think though he was over-priced at that level, especially as he had a pre-existing back injury. As we know, that put paid to his career just a couple of seasons later.

  • I wouldn't rule it out at all.
  • We would not pay the asking price in Jan

Should hudds not go up I dont doubt we would re enquire

5 mil is a lot of dough for a 3rd division striker and if he was that good then a big premiership club would've paid what we wouldn't

Don't right it off but don't pin your hopes on it
  • Sorry, have I missed something: did we put a bid in in January?
  • no club would pay because the chairman wouldn't accept the offer and wouldn't sell.. i can't see it happening end of the season unless jordan decides he wants to leave
  • if huddersfield go up then rhodes can continue his progression in the championship with them, but if they don't get promoted, I really can't see him knocking around in the third division for another season...he's involved with the scottish international side now so I would expect him to ask to leave...the chairman has to be realistic and can't hold out forever

  • Can't see how his fee is going to be anywhere near some of the figures suggested on here. When brighton signed CMS, he had 2 years left on his current deal, they got £2.5m for him possibly rising to £3.25 (quote wikipedia). CMS is a nailed on starter for Scotland I believe now also. Rhodes is an under 21 international who is out of contract in the summer. CMS scored 35 goals in league 1, Rhodes has scored 36. There is absolutely no way Rhodes would go for over £3m.

Someone say that Rhodes is out of contract in the summer?

In that case, Huddersfield can't get a transfee fee - but will hold out for a big development fee, as Rhodes is under 24.

Expect Rhodes to go for around £2 mill, plus add-ons.

Carl Jenkinson was out of contract last summer.
But Charlton negotiated a £1 mill development fee with Arsenal, rising to £1.5 mill with add-ons.

Also ..... Huddersfield can only get a development fee if they offer the player an improved contract, assuming he is actually out of contract, of course.

  • Sorry looking into it now, I'm not sure that is the case I'm wrong I think. I think I read up the thread that he is out of contract this summer but after googling it, looks like 2015 now. I still can't see him going for over £3m though. Would a prem club take a risk on him? Maybe a team like Leicester but I certainly think we'd have a chance

  • Rhodes is not out of contract in the summer.
  • So it would appear, Junior.

PS: Does your Dad know you're still up?
You've got school in the morning.

My bad!! Still though, will be interesting to see where he goes

  • Wouldn't shock me
  • no club would pay because the chairman wouldn't accept the offer and wouldn't sell.. i can't see it happening end of the season unless jordan decides he wants to leave
Bit nieve EmmaK. He won't be spending another season in league one after the season he's just had. His agent will see to that. It's not as if he's a local lad is it. As for the Chairman not accepting the bid in January well that was then and this is now. In January there was a very distinct chance of Hudds gaining promotion but not any longer. It's good for Hudds that he has a contract until 2015 as that ensures decent recompense but I can see him leaving for about 1.5 million plus a lot of add ons. Not to us I might add.

  • Hope we don't sign him, can see him being a massive flop - didn't get a sniff against us, or too many of the other top teams in the league for that matter.

Scoring 4 away against the 2nd best team in the league?

A game when Wednesday completely fell apart.

That is my problem with Rhodes' scoring record, tons of hat-tricks against certain teams but not scoring in so many games.

I'm not doubting for a second the kid has talent but IMHO he won't make it higher up the football ladder.

I think he can make the step up to the Championship without a doubt.

I think the Prem will be too far at the moment but if people like Holt and Morison can do it then i cant see why Rhodes couldnt.

Still dont think we can get him.
  • He is a local lad, his family live in Huddersfield and he has family that live in Barnsley. And its not niave. Won't know until may 26th if Rhodes is staying with Hudds or going, there is a possibility they win the playoffs.
