  • Oh well, will travel more in hope than expectation tomorrow AM.

Never been to Burton so got that pencilled in as an alternative (if that's not cancelled too)
  • What a complete waste of money. Deisel, hotel etc. It's obviously going to be called off tomorrow.
    Exactly what I was thinking.
  • Should the conditions deteriorate overnight, Chesterfield will request the referee attends the stadium early to inspect the pitch (MW) #cafc
  • f**k sake just call it off now do everyone a favour.

never ever gonna be on after tonights big freeze.
  • Is there no set time for an inspection tomorrow. We got the game off against Rochdale the other day nice and early surely they will do the same.
  • I think it will be on. We seem postpone games more easily than other clubs.
  • Train is at 11.25 so I'm hoping for a decision before then.
  • Train at 08.25 so will be begging to be let on an early train home by the looks of things.

Very unconvinced it is going to go ahead buy I suppose there just isnt enough in terms of hard facts to get it pulled now.

Hope I will not get into trouble for this, I don't think I am infringing any copyright laws
But here's the latest forecast for tomorrow at Chesterfield from netweather.tv

    Max Temp  -3.5°C -5.8°C -5.8°C -6.3°C -2.6°C -1.4°C -1.4°C -1.9°C

Sorry cnt correct the chart but basically it should read 00:00 -3.5, 03:00 -5.8 etc, the maximum daytime temperature is -1.4 at kick off time.

    Forecast
Updated using the 06Z Run on Friday 10th February 10:46:00 GMT

If you can believe this and to be fair they are normally there or there about, it is looking very doubtful. Suggest we all check before setting out.
  • Perhaps they are planning to hire a few Wendies to talk to the pitch overnight.

it is really out of order that things should be held so long in suspense. The referee and the league/Chesterfield F C must know that to get to the match on time tomorrow, fans will need to be leaving London very early and for those who booked hotel/b&b/advance travel tickets, if the game is off, then they will need time to cancel or rearrange their schedules. In cases like this when the weather is bad and travel will be at best difficult and not just for Addicks fans, games, if there is the slightest doubt, should be called off at least 24 hours in advance. It's another example of the fans who pay the bills being treated with an attitude that is little short of contemptuous. Even if the game is on tomorrow, the pitch will be in bad condition and the game will suffer as a consequence.
  • Please do the inspection at 9am Chesterfield.
  • The weather forecasts for Chesterfield are based on weather stations on the outskirts of Nottingham.

The weather wasn't as bad as expected last night, so if there is any cloud cover there tonight, it should be fine
  • I'm on the stupidly early 07:55 from St Pancras. I'm buggered!
  • So what on earth has that inspection proved then? The square route of f**k all, that's what.

Why would they call it off today if they thought there was a chance of play tomorrow..?

Can understand people's frustration with travelling whilst it's still in doubt but they can't just call it off when the conditions are okay.
  • It will cost them buckets to call it off so they want to give it every chance - The problem is of course, they need it to be much warmer overnight than is predicted so we all know it is almost certainly off. Last week it was colder overnight than predicted!!! Don't suppose they are too bothered about us and I suspect it will be called off later than last week but it will still be called off.

Exactly. It will be a real pain if they call it off when we're half way up but I'd rather they gave it every chance than call it off now only for the pitch to be fine 26 hours later.
  • Either way it's a day out in the almighty Chesterfield!
  • Things to do in Chesterfield - http://www.visitchesterfield.info/see-and-do.asp - oh dear, it does look pretty grim.

Right thats it I've made a decision I'm not going. It's gonna have to be sport on TV all day instead starting with golf from Dubai, then Manure v Liverpool followed by Six Nations rugby..................I wonder if the missus wouldn't mind supplying me with morning and afternoon refreshments so as I don't miss anything and carefully time lunch in between the footy and rugby hmmmm?
  • 10.26? Am I missing a joke?
  • I assume the train Nicholas is one is at 10.25...
