  • Would we be happy to sell him and sign vardy?

Personally, no. Vardy would cost the same as Kergamont and isn't proven at League One level.
  • Not that it would happen but promotion is worth a lot more than 1m.

Just out of interest, are there any figures on how much promotion is actually worth (ball park obviously). The difference between Championship and Prem is well publicised, but was wondering about the gap between League One and Championship.
  • TV money in L1 approx £300k

TV money in Champ Approx £3m

Then more ticket income, increased payments from sponsors, better chance of big cup draws as you come into cups at later stage and don't lose money on JPT games.

Slater + Varney said last year we were losing £4-5m in L1 and might be, just, able to break even in Champ so I would guestimate difference is around £4m depending on ST and match day ticket uptake, how well we do, away turnouts, cup runs, world economy.
  • We are said to be losing £4m a season here but could break-even in CCC. Subjective as with stronger squad if promoted, could go further in cups etc. Other clubs in Div One will have lower running costs so hard to generalise.
  • Stig: Lyon's population is larger than Marseille's measured by their arrondisements, but Marseille's is larger if their suburbs are taken into account.

This is always a contentious argument but it is generally accepted that Marseille is the biggest club in France. After that you have 5 or 6 at about the same size.

Overall, history does not play such a part in France in determining big clubs. Remember for example that PSG weren't even formed until 1971! As always, determining which club is 2nd biggest is open to debate about qualifying factors, but it could easily be argued that that club is OL. They definately come in the top 5 or 6 and describing them as 2nd tier is laughable.
  • Yann Kermogant is worth more to us this season than £1m. He is the epitomy of workrate, selflessness and putting your body on the line in the performance of his profession.

    Priceless.....
