Was always a fan of Llera, who I'd have picked ahead of Doherty and Dailly last season. I defended him regularly on here. Wholehearted player, prone to the occasional foolish mistake, but a decent footballer at this level.

I continue to wish him well and like Len Glover, he will always get a round of applause from me whenever he plays against us.

His criticisms of Charlton are silly and hardly fall into the category of ''bigging up'' his new club. But that's football and we shouldn't be too bothered. Where I think he does himself a genuine diservice, though, is the tendency he displays to blame everyone but himself. It didn't work out at Charlton, but it wasn't his fault, it was poor management. It didn't work out at Blackpool, but it wasn't his fault, it was the club's owner.

I hope it works out for him at Wednesday. But he didn't start on Saturday. I wonder whose fault it was that he was only on the bench? Not his, I'm sure!
  • Another fine example of football fans dishing it out but then screaming blue murder when a player gives it back a bit.

I partook in the song on saturday hoping to put him off his game to our advantage even though i like the bloke and therefore wont be wetting my fruit of the looms about him having a dig back.

In my humble opionion I would quite like to see more of the below on regular occasions....

  • Rodney, imho, there is quite a difference between 'giving it back' and straight up making stuff up!!!
  • I took a look on owls talk and they are slating that cart horse rob jones. Then someone says 'thankfully we have llera'

    Made me chuckle
  • Well thats the second time that he has slated us this season I believe, didn't he critisise CP about the number of new players that we brought in & we should have kept a lot that we let go as they were good players?
  • ONly thing that bothers me is the mis-use of the word moment. It started with Ancelloti, now loads of Spanish/ Italians are doing it.

i blame the bloke on the left, miguel left the club shortly after that photo was taken...
  • Rascal barnet...........and Lleras.
  • bastard cuffs llera

  • Is that tubes
  • hes telling miguel all about the various protests hed been on that week... ;-)
  • is that Dom Littlewood on a golf day bottom left?
  • Telling someone to read the terms & conditions
  • Truth is we are the best team in the league so anything he says is irrelevant and if he gave it any thought he would realise that if you score one goal and the other team miss their chances you win end of story. Such comments are not worth listening to
  • Yes, I remember him criticise Sir Chris about bringing in so many - thought there was more than a few sore grapes in that comment at the time. I see it as a compliment though - he clearly really wanted to stay with us.

And as we were slagging him off, whatever you think about his abilities as a footballer, it is hard to fault his effort and commitment. We should be big enough not to be too upset if he gives some back IMO. He is still on my list of ex players I will clap.
  • 'sore grapes'

    painful
  • You can get cream for them.
  • Mugson and llera - dumb and dumber! So sad they cant be gracious in defeat!
  • The funny thing him saying we are lucky in winning all our games, is, if it were true, who gives a f***? We're top of the league, he'll always be a League One player at best.

  • Some said he should definitely start 190% - this gonna start someone off on here again.;0)

One of the first responses on that Owls Talk thread answers "190% yes" - so they know as much about maths as they do about centre backs
  • Quicker than you thought (unlike Miguel)!
  • Find it amusing that Jackson was "lucky" to score a free kick last week and has now buried two!!
  • Rob Jones must be slow for them to say Llera is quicker.

TBF Miguel had his moments at Charlton , during 09 / 10 his footballing ability at the back and the vision displayed at times was impressive for example the ball he put through to Kyle Reid at Southend in the last minute was a peach . Balance that against the man who cost us against Colchester and Millwall . If he were less clumsy and quicker he would be playing at a much higher level.

As others have said we now have better players.
  • Llera is the best passing / composed centre half we've had for YEARS !!

    HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHA.
  • Not blaming Dailly saying it was a yellow and bailey put his pen on the moon.
Llera played well that night - better than sodje who was poor at swindon. Bailey, I think, lost the ball in midfield which caused Llera to be exposed

  • No turn of pace, no positioning sense, not a clue.

    Only marginally better than Doherty!
