Should we be concerned about BWP

  • Team game, as long as we are winning it doesn't matter who scores.

He is getting in the right places and missing. It's when he isn't getting any chances we need to worry.
  • I say keep him in team and in last 3 games he has put more into his game and if he starts playing more for the team rather than himself (as he has started to do ) and we lessen the hype then he will be fine and I think he will score more against lesser opposition as top defenders are quicker than him. He also needs to put more muscle on to make him stronger as he loses the ball too often. But he is quality and reads the spaces well and has been working hard and if he is dragging defenders with him that leaves the spaces open for others.

his first touch and balance frustrate me at times, but its ok cos he usually scores. He does need to get scoring reasonably soon because otherwise he will lose his place in the team. The position we are in and the way we are playing you would be hoping your talisman can notch you more than 25 in 44 games.
  • The only thing that I'm worried about with regard to Bradley is him signing up for a couple more seasons.
  • Samuel. You'd be disappointed with 25 goals in 44 games?

    Weird.
  • Yes, if anything the lack of goals has improved other elements of his game- when the goals come back he will be all the better for it and we don't need the goals of one player - we have goals throughout the team. But we all know he will end the season as our top scorer anyway.
  • No, i'd be disappointed with 24 ;-)
  • the only 3 with little to worry about right now is Solly,Wiggy,Yann

Sorry, but you can't seriously leave Captain Marvel Johnny Jackson off that list.
  • I tohught he was spot on saturday worked the channels, challenged and run em ragged. He'll be fine the goals will come if you keep getting in those positions
  • End of the day we are still winning and scoring goals, BWP will hit form at the right time.

  • Sorry about this a bit confused is his contract up this summer or not?
  • If we were only relying on only BWP to score goals then i would be worried. But everyone is chipping in and we are getting good results.

  • BWP will get dogs abuse at Exeter on Saturday, hopefully it will spur him on and he'll silence the doubters.
  • What Fiiiish says. He hasn't scored since Nov 21. And the result? After nine weeks of BWP misfiring, we're seven points clear at the top. So perhaps we should be concerned for BWP. But it doesn't seem we should be concerned for CAFC!
  • should play Haynes against Exeter, something needs to change with BWP.

We can't expect Jacko to nail free kicks like those every game, sooner or later we need our strikers to produce. BWP is not getting many chances, but nor is he taking the ones he's getting. Kermo got his chance by scoring as a sub, and if Clarke or Haynes come on for BWP & bag one it will give Chrissy an interesting selection dilemma.

Kermo & BWP have also got to work harder on combination play - on Sat they played like they'd never met eachother
  • agree with Mike although it was only one attack I thought Haynes looked good after coming on against the Blades
  • powell hasn't bought clarke or haynes with the intention of not playing them. bwp will surely have to start scoring soon. from what i can gather haynes has continually shown moments of quality at championship level but failed to deliver consistently. with this squad powell seems to be getting the best out of his players, getting them to play with motivation. i think if haynes is handled right he could be great in this division.

i'm not advocating haynes immediately coming in for bwp who has been generally excellent, but it's good to know he has competition breathing down his neck.
  • BWP is a top striker at this level and probably at Championship level as well. All go through a lean spell and he is no differant. I only gave him a five against SW. I would give Haynes a start next Sat and bring BWP on for last 30 mins when the defence is tired. I agree that the next goal will be the start of another run. I am sure that SCP will be able to sell him the sence of this. Still love the guy - and he is better than Shaun!
  • Bradley Wright Phillips !
When he scores he's next goal i'm sure he'll be banging them in for fun
although he should of scored against fulham and sheff weds - i'd of smashed e'm top corner like messi ! ;)

  • He is playing at the moment like the player i thought he was and remember him as before we signed him. He turned out to be a far better player than that and he really seemed to be top draw. He is a bit of a liability at the moment and we just have to hope he clicks back into form. I'd start Haynes on Saturday as i think CP has been patient enough and a rest may do the trick for him.
  • a liability? FFS what is he Mike Small? Its not as if he is missing loads of chances is it. He did not get a sniff on Saturday. If Weaver hadn't made an outstanding save the previous Saturday we wouldn't be having this conversation and Brad would be the dogs wotsits. He isn't scoring but we are still winning. That's good in my opinion. He will soon stick one away and go on a run.
  • we've been saying that for a while large, its been 10 games since he scored. When you bring in talent like Haynes, they deserve a chance if a forward has gone that long without a goal. Bring him on with 20 mins left agaisnt exeter

He'll definitely score at Exeter when they start calling his Mum a whore.
  • In my opinion, I agree that BWP badly needs a goal, and although we haven't done recently, there will be a time we badly need a goal. Because of that, I think if Haynes comes on and scores on sat, then I would give him a shot. He has played well and not scored, but he has also played awful and not scored. Kermy brings more to the team, I like BWP and I'm not saying bring Haynes in, he's the answer, but I think BWP will struggle to keep his place should Haynes or even Clarke for that matter grab a goal from the bench
  • He'll kick on to get 20-25 this season some time soon. Every striker has lean spells. I'm just relieved our form didn't nosedive when that spell started for him
  • Just imagine a team with AdTheAddick and Bexley Dan in it!
  • I agree with the comment about how BWP and Kermit did not link up well together on Saturday. A lot to do with the one dimensional long balls to Kermit's head. I think Hayes is a better partner for BWP (although ironically not as good a player as Kermit) because we play more football on the ground.
  • Similarly, when Stephens comes back might also be a factor - he is the sort of player that can thread a killer pass though. BWP will profit more from that kind of service
  • It's tricky as there's so many combinations of midfield and forwards we could try, but if I had to choose one right now I'd go for Haynes to start and BWP on for the last 30.
