Should we be concerned about BWP

edited January 2012 in General Charlton
I hear differing views of Bradley at the ground on his finishing ability, is he an opportunist, yes in my mind, is he too idle, is he a creator for others, you have to wonder, does he need a rest, is this a strikers baron spell that we know happens to all strikers, 9 games without a goal, missed 1 on 1 yesterday, missed opportunities against Fulham, 14 goals fantastic first third of the season but are the opposition more street wise to his strengths and pace, is his confidence becoming an issue as new strikers are coming into the club and he's trying too hard, personally he's in my team but we need another goal ot two Bradley. Pleaseeeee.

  • He was absolute quality yesterday. Stretched their defence all game an created for others - a super save from Weaver denied him an opportunity to make it 2-0.

Look how we're doing without him scoring. He's an important part of this fantastic team and not worried at all.

    That
  • Could be low on confidence, could he have rounded the keeper for the 1 on 1? All hypothetical I know.
  • If he performs as well in the second half of the season he could end up with 30 goals, which is great. We get goals from all over the pitch so nothing to worry about for me.
  • On a personal note glad he missed it I had £10 at 10/1 1-0

i still feel the lad needs a rest , but his work ethic is returning and he is trying hard for a goal, Weaver made a good stop yesterday in the one on one which denied him

the good thing this season is that any new signing is not straight in the 11 but is lurking to keep players on their toes BWP wont be going anywhere but its good he realises that he is having to fight for his place ala pritchard, waggy, stephens, morrison, taylor

the only 3 with little to worry about right now is Solly,Wiggy,Yann
  • I'm not worried at all, the goals will start flowing again very soon and he is contributing at the moment anyway so not a luxury in the side.
  • he was class against Fulham and by all accounts class yesterday. Not a problem imo

  • He's was superb yesterday . Nothing to worry about whatsoever . He just needs that one goal then the rest will flow.
Less of the doom and gloom please.
    COYR !!!
  • Every single striker who ever drew breath has had to endure a barren spell. When the damn breaks and it all clicks for him again the goal will follow one after the other just as before. He's now gone 8 ? without and we are still clear at the top. Once he starts again it will fire us to the championship I have no doubt.
  • Bedsaddick, no gloom and doom on my part, general views and observations on our fans part of which I've overheard, general overview on this thread is positive, I too am optimistic that Bradley will score many more and take us forward to the championship as Champions.

Saturday will be good to start the new run of goals and Brad if you do read this thread and you do score, gives us a wave on the half way line of the East Stand. Prediction for Sat 2-1 BWP and Hollands.
  • Sometimes it's nice to have a player due a goal, it's coming and would be fitting for him to comd next week
  • Defenders are by now well aware of what he can do and his strengths and his weaknesses. I have only seen a few games this season and yesterday was the best performance I have seen so far from him. He looked fit, motivated and played for the team. I suspect that for the rest of the season he will not be as prolific as he has been .... but his 'notoriety' amongst opposition defenders will give others: Kermorgant, Hollands, Stephens, Haynes, Clarke, whoever. more space and time. He is doing OK.

All goalscorers go through a drought period, but that doesn't mean they don't bring a positive contribution to the team.
  • In some ways it doesn't matter if he scores as the opposition always mark him heavily which gives others a chance to score, yesterday he played well, as has been said he continually harried the Wendies, had a great shot well saved and also put a lovely pass across the goal that JJ nearly latched on to for a goal.
In other ways it does matter as he needs a confidence boost and any type of goal will do that so IMHO we should keep playing him and if he doesn't score sub him after about 70 mins and try one of our other strikers.

Bwp worked so hard for the team yesterday and that is all that can be asked of him. He has bought into powell's way, not anything else. Enough said.

If he had run round Weaver, he would have had to pay to get back in the ground. ; )

    No.

He's scored 14 right? Only needs six more out of the remaining 21 games to be a 20 a season striker.

Any striker who has played the game at a high level like myself (Tandridge Leauge under 11s) will tell you its a dip in form and a bundled goal from six yards will resume his confidence and he'll regain his form.

Im more worried about what cereal to have a week on Thursday.

    Brilliant.

  • He played brilliantly yesterday and ran Sheff W ragged. I don't see too many games and I have seen some posts on here saying he is a bit lazy or disinterested - he arguably put into a harder shift than anyone yesterday.
  • He will come good. BWP was a constant worry to Wednesday yesterday with his pace and his close control in the box and it's only a matter of time before he re-acquaints himself with the onion bag. Once he gets one, more will follow in short order.
  • Bradley had a much better game yesterday than recent games , shows you how good this team is that we're not relying on just him too score , when BWP gets going again then we will start 'spanking' teams by 3 or 4.
  • Can we stop worrying about BWP not scoring? From what I heard yesterday he put in a similar shift to that of the Fulham game and all the other games he has played in this season and not scored. There are other aspects to his game that more than make up for his lack of goals this season!

This absolutely. Imagine what we will do once he starts scoring again. Weaver made a really good save from him yesterday. Every chance he has he is hitting the target so can't see what the problem. Worked his arse off yesterday, so no there isn't a problem.
  • He has been occupying defences and that means scoring opportunities elsewhere. He'll soon be on the score sheet again and I am confident he will net at lest 20 before the season is over. Nice if he good net a brace on Sat!urday but no pressure!
