PS. I liked him too. I especially liked him when he scored for our 9 men to equalise against Swindon. And he has an eye for a sweet long pass. But that is not what he is mainly paid for, is it? As JT said, you can like a player but he still may not be that good.
(enjoy your posts, by the way, unlike that other bloke)
He's 32. We got him from MKD on a free. And he couldn't even hold down a regular place in the two years with us, and last year, we were not good, even when we were 2nd. Does it not bother you, that record?
Morrison is 23. He's got loads of room for improvement, and is showing it. Liera's best days are already behind him. Trouble is, his best days were not that good. If he'd spent most of his life at Champ level, I'd be more optimistic. But he hasn't.
Really hope he starts for you Sat.
You are right about the key battle, but one Liera mistake could be costly, they often are. As you surely saw at Walsall.
We got Rob Jones on a free from Scunny he's proved ok fella at 32, if he helps us to get promotion this season then It'll be job done.
We've signed several 'cast offs' who have done well for us.
Llera isn't expected to start on Saturday, most likely be on the bench as cover.
Really can't believe how excited the wendys are getting over this.
Bit off topic (maybe a wendy who comes on here can answer) but what's the deal with Beevers? Always looked a decent prospect and big things were expected of him..................
Beevers is 4th choice behind Llera, Jones and Batth in the pecking order, he's a good defender but has suffered by being partnered by some real cack in his days at S6, he needed a Michael Johnson type of player at the side of him to bring him on, he's still good enough for the level above and time is on his side.
As for Llera he's started 3 games and we've not conceded a single goal, he's not Baresi or Maldini but he's a solid dependable player for this league, sometimes players fit at clubs like Morrison with you lot, maybe Llera will for us.
The key battle Saturday will be midfield Semedo & Lines v Jackson & Hollands
What about Walsall away? I guess he came on as a sub and was at least partially culpable for their second.
But I expect Morrison to take a step up if we make it to the Champ, and I'd much rather be signing players like that at this stage. Matt Taylor may not be able to step up. He was signed to get us up. But other players CP has signed, definitely will. Wiggins, that boy has a big future in the game. Kermorgant is already champ standard, although age isnt on his side. BWP will score goals a level up too. I didnt go to Fulham but everybody said Bradley Pritchard was awesome. Playing non-league last season, but the thing is he's only 25. The trouble with Big Mig is that we didn't rate him good enough even at this level. Taylor and Morro have been, week in, week out, as our goals against record testifies
He made a balls up at Walsall away, to be fair we deserved to lose that game, they were the better team.
But if he didn't 'balls up' surely you would have gained a point from that game and be a point closer to lil old Charlton?
Yeah very likely, we'd only be four points behind rather than five, had he not made a goal line clearance against Preston we may have dropped points there.

Morrison may well make the step up, Reda Johnson will do that for us, for a big lad he's one hell of a left back.
It'll be a good battle on Saturday, one i'm relishing
Just because he wasn't all that for us doesnt mean he wont be any good for Wednesday. How many players do we have at Charlton who were not good enough for their previous teams? Morrison, Kermit, Cort to name a few. It's all about finding a team best suited for your style of play. The amount of players who have been crap for us over the years who have gone on to do fantastic for other teams is endless.
@Nicholas "The amount of players who have been crap for us over the years who have gone on to do fantastic for other teams is endless." What? I'm struggling to think of any from the last few years. Maybe Luke Varney...Diawara, but I thought he was good for us anyway once he settled in a bit. Who else you thinking of?
Come on now, he's full of errors but people are definitely not giving him enough credit. He could have a dreadful game, he could have a good game, but more often than not he'd be solid. He'll never get through a game without making an error but often it's not a fatal one. Plus his distribution will suit them better than us considering they like playing with a target man. He could easily have a Colchester and gift us the match but I think people should be careful about writing him off completely as he was a big part of the team who finished 4th in this league, granted when he was a little younger. Be fair to the bloke
Llera is in football terms like a League 1 Titus Bramble. He can have a few decent games, but you know that he will have a poor game at least 1 in 5 and when he does he is often poor for the next few until he's dropped.
Ambrose, thomas, lisbie, paddy macarthy, jay bothroyd, mark hudson, semedo, bougherra players who were deemed by some not good enough who went on and done well at other clubs.

Ah, but some of the "some" are complete planks. You could have added JonJo on that basis, although that would have got me mad. Some of these players we had to sell: Bougherra, Hudson. Only planks thought Semedo wasnt a good player for us. A greater number thought that his concentration on the defensive side of midfield held us back, which SCP has proved to be correct. Jay Bothroyd has amazed me but he was only here on loan. I'm not sure Thomas, Hudson and McCarthy are doing significantly better for their current teams than they did in their time at Charlton. I'm not sure I'd have McCarthy in ahead of our current centre backs, even when we are division lower.
Dont get me wrong the only player I would have back from that lot is Semedo. The point I was trying to get across is I think every player has the right or wrong club for them. Some more wrong then others such as Marcus Bent
p.s. i'm sure we signed Bothroyd on a 1 or 2 year contract, might be wrong though, even so he shouldnt have been on that list we was premiership at the time and he has only done well in the championship.

I'm pretty sure it was a season loan and we didn't take up the option of a contract for some reason, he had an injury or an illness I think.
Things i think about llera. He absolutely loves playing football. he is a player you warm too. He loves a crossfield 40 yard pass if he is given permission. He has some good moments. He seems a decent bloke. He often makes errors. When he is OK he is very very OK (ish), when he is bad you lose points. He is more often bad than good. He might just about 'do a job' for Sheffield Wednesday, but wouldn't for us any more.
I thought Llera looked alright when i saw him, but that was in a very poor team. Think in the long run this will be good for us, chances are he's going to drop points for the Wendies, going off the fact that he has a mare every now and then, which is nothing but a good thing for us.

While you are there, whom can you bring back for Sat who did not feature against West Ham? Madine is still out, isn't he?

Nichols said the list was endless, we only just got it off the ground...

Still, interesting list, mate.
