Palace were well set up & did really well on the night. I thought their support was teriffic and it must be absolutely gutting that they lost on pens and then missed the last train home. I feel sorry for them.
Not really, that was brilliant. I was dancing round the front room.
I feel sorry for Palace - they held out well with only 10 men and away from home. I would much rather have seen a London club go through than a Welsh one.
I regularly watched Charlton at The Valley as a teenager in the 70's but due to other commitments didn't actively support during the 80's. I was able to start regularly watching Charlton again in the 90's, so no I didn't watch during the 'Selhurst' years, perhaps you would enlighten me as to why Palace are hated so much?
There are good and bad fans in every club. I prefer not to lump everyone together and prefer not to judge people I don't know. I personally don't make vitriolic statements about people I don't know and won't judge Palace or any other club purely by the comments of others. I bear no malice towards any other club even though I love Charlton
Notice alot of those Palace fans in the bus photo are wearing glasses. Must take them off during the game to make the football look better.
Amount of Palace fans announcing they are the pride of London is sickening. One Palace fan reckons they deserved to win the game because they defended well and football is not about attacking....
I hate Palace despite only being a Charlton fan from the mid 90s onwards as i grew up being told of the selhurst years and then lucky for me Simon Jordan came along with his inferiority complex to Richard Murray and gave me a reason to hate them for myself, whatever happened to us after doesnt take away how great that John Fortune goal felt when it went in and i look forward to the natural order of things being restored next season hopefully in the football league table.
Jordan, and Noades are typical Palarse both arrogant tossers! When we were on our knees Noades was charging silly money (and taking great pleasure in it) to play at that shit tip they call a stadium, whilst regularly not having the appropriate facilities ie lights, refreshments and staff. Growing up with many Palarse fans (living in Bromley) giving it the biggen with the cheap "pikey" jibes etc and having to start my CAFC supporting career travelling to Shithurst Park every week, forgive me for not having any love lost for the Surrey Nigels!!!
ME14, you appear to be strugging with the Palace dislike on here, its very irrational so dont try to make sense of it, for what its worth, heres where I'm at
I am a reasonably grown up man (43) with reasonably grown up views, I have no "isms" and am often told I am far too much of a lefty for my own good etc etc.
That said football offers as a unique by product, the chance to be irrational and having an irrational dislike of a rival is something I would not want to loose.
I wish no violence or ill fortune to Palace fans or injuries to their players, like someone on here said I do hope they got home alright, I do however hope it rained all the way and the trains were late.
I wish their team enduring hardships and misery and the supportes, having chosen red and blue, a lifetime of watching poor football in the lower league and loosing week in week out like Barnstoneworth United (one for the Ripping Yarn fans)
I know and mix with a couple of Palace fans and the feeling is mutual, does this make me a bad person? I enjoyed last night, cheered at the end and carry no remorse...
As above I have many friends that are Nigel's and wish them no real harm, just utter heart break on the football field and will take great delight in collecting my £20 from them later on tonight, with a great big smile on my face humming glad all over!
I have Palarse mates who I quite like but I do puzzle how a nice enough person could ever support such a non club. Hatred- well it does stem back to the way we were treated when we played at Sellout but as a Palace mate explained, that was Ron Noades not Palace and he has since screwed them more than he has screwed us. But when you are conditioned to hate a club , it is hard to change.
It does annoy me when my mates pretend they don't hate Charlton, but take every opportunity to put us down. At least my hatred is honest and open, even if it may be a tad irtrational. And as SE7to SG3 says so eleoquently, I'm more than happy to continue openly hate them . I enjoyed watching last night's game, being able to genuinely root for a team rather than not caring.
To be honest I got on quite well at school with palace fans, I still prefer them to the sofa fans. Back then (mid 90s) Brighton were never mentioned! I think the Internet and Simon Jordan have a lot to answer for! I don't hate them, I just enjoy seeing them fail, especially against us. Millwall are the real enemy, but MK Dons are the only team I actually hate.

Covered end - thanks for answering the question.

Love the fact that the bloke doing the odds was called 'Nige'.

Had a great day at school taking the piss out of all the palarse fans who were certain they'd go through.
LOL.
