If Palace get in the league cup final...

edited January 2012 in General Charlton
How bad would you feel?

I would find it a litte depressing to be honest, would really hate it, especially if they actually ended up winning the cup !!

Little chance of that happening but still possible.

Good things are happening at the moment top of the league at this stage cant ask for much more and very much looking forward to sheff wednesday on sat, but when the time comes will be keeping an eye out on this league cup fixture like most as I really dont want them to progress any further than they already have done, Please NO!

Cmon Cardiff.

  • Fair play to them if they get to the final. Great achievement for a championship club and a real boost for south London football...........oh hang on
  • Really don't care
  • As long as they don't win it and get into Europe
  • feck the stripey carnts
  • 10,000 new "supporters" will appear from the east Surrey/South Croydon area.

    Well, at least 1,000 anyway.

    Definately 500...........................................
  • It would really annoy me, especially when they all come out of the woodwork.
  • Would piss me off big time.
  • Don't care, happy for a couple of friends who support them (I know I apologise), if they were in Europe from what i can gather you have to do well in Europe before breaking even and it will stretch their squad.

As a rule I would never support a welsh team but on this occasion..................

Might not need to win it, to get into Europe, only reach the final.

  • Nope. They'd have to win it.

If the winners in the league cup are already in Europe, the league gets another spot not the runners up.

Make the b******* spend some of their dole money on a euro trip.

    Great news.
  • For the first time in my life I will support Wales over my countrymen here....come on Cardiff
  • All I can say is....come on you bluebirds.
  • Rather them than me at the best of times, but f*** going down there if palice beat them
  • No chance, Cardiff will beat them.
  • I think so TRR but they are in a semi, there is cause for concern!
  • Just shows what you can do if you take cup competitions seriously instead of 'concentrating on the league', year after year. Maybe Palace winning it would be a good thing in the sense that our fans might actually start wanting us to win something!

    In my lifetime:
    1987 Wimbledon: FA Cup Winners
1990 Palace: FA Cup Runners Up
2004 Millwall: FA Cup Runners Up
    2012 Palace?

    and Charlton?
  • Palice winning a trophy a good thing? You must be joking!

I'm not saying that it's really a good thing, just that if we actually took cup competitions seriously then we wouldn't have to concern ourselves with them winning it, as we'd more likely have already won it ourselves once or twice.
  • Doesn't show me anything - next season we will be South london's number 1 club -that is more important. They won't win it anyway - a dour side based on not conceeding - have too many points to be relegated but will finish nearer the bottom than the top. Not enough goals in the side!

I think we take it seriously, although two 1/4 finals since 1947 suggests we don't or we are just unable to win cup games!!!

Muttley, we will, and have always been SE London's top club. I hope that can be said without and any bias, or irrational dislike of palice
  • I would be utterly sick if they got through. Come on the taffs

We took yesterday seriously judging by the team but the Hamer appeal suggested we are taking the Wednesday game more seriously which I think is difficult to argue with. The other cups, we haven't taken seriously but I enjoyed the Reading game all the more for that. We are in a league we have to get out of this season and I will excuse not prioritising the cups to help us achieve this. We are due some sort of cup run though - maybe next year!

Well corrected Elfsborg - I meant in league position - of course we will always be south London's no1- i don't really see Palarse as a football club - more an excuse for one.
  • Forza Cardiff!
  • On c'mon - take it seriously! We are a joke when it comes to cup competitions and I'm referring alot to our fans' attitude. Everyone is always so worried about it affecting our league form in a negative way. Everyone seems to think that it can wait for another season. The problem is that practically every season turns out to be a promotion or relegation fight and this is no different to other clubs. The difference is that other clubs just get on with it and go for both. We never do.

Our idea of a cup run is a replay
