On c'mon - take it seriously! We are a joke when it comes to cup competitions and I'm referring alot to our fans' attitude. Everyone is always so worried about it affecting our league form in a negative way. Everyone seems to think that it can wait for another season. The problem is that practically every season turns out to be a promotion or relegation fight and this is no different to other clubs. The difference is that other clubs just get on with it and go for both. We never do.
I am just resigned to the fact, that whilst we want to win a cup, that has to be obvious, we just struggle badly. I saw something recently that we have been knocked out of the cup about 35 times to teams in a division below us!

It doesn't seem at all obvious that we DO want to win a cup. Everyone at Charlton seems to treat the cups as an inconvenience. The FA Cup hasn't lost any magic to me - I think that it's easy to say that because we never get anywhere.

The majority of premier league clubs only priority is to stay in the premiership

If we can walk this league, which I think we will, I believe that we could get near the play-offs. Look at Crawley, Norwich, Southampton, Stevenage, all win their leagues comfortably and the momentum carries them on.
When Millwall came on TV a year or two ago, my late Grandad, then 90 announced "if that lot were playing an exhibition game free of charge outside in the street, i'd get up and shut the curtains...I do care what I consider to be our rivals do, football for me isnt as simplistic as following my team alone, its one of the few sports where you can be subjective throughout.
A Charlton win for me is made all the more sweeter by a Palace defeat just as when I get in from Wembley having seen England win, a last minute Lithuania goal against the Jocks makes me smile, I have a few Palace mates and a lot of Scottish mates, between us its just the way it is, no violence, no personal hatred just rivaly and dislike for each others team/sporting side
I think that man city or liverpool will muller them, but still if they make the final thats two in recent times to our none ,its quite shameful we have not had a cup run since the days of lard and kids playing on bomb sites. I make them slight favourites with Cardiff as maybe more hungrier .
Would not swap an FA Cup win, the 1998 Play Off Final, more years in the top flight than the rest of the South London clubs combined, a fantastic stadium, better support despite current (temporary status) over any cup runners up situation. Who remembers the runner's up anyway? Charlton Athletic FC and their fans have no cause to feel belittled by Palace and the possiblity of a League Cup runners up place that will only come if they beat Cardiff which I can't see happening, even if it does.....so what. Up The Bluebirds anyway!!
The fa cup win was seen by none of us,we have been starved rigid of nights like this, just hope the virus really affects them, the play off final is not a major honour
i want to know where all these nigels come from. never seen so many of the lame prats.
Facebook is awash with the horrors tonight. Most of the ones commenting on mine probably haven't been to Selhurst since they were rumped in Sainsbury's car park after a night in Crystals.
