Yes he did, and he left us in the lurch to go to boro. We have to undertsand that he isn't a Charlton fan, football is his job. I have fond memories of the Lawrence years and will forgive him when he retires/leaves Palarse.
but let's not forget he tried a proper low ball , disgraceful , bid for robert lee when he knew we were agaonised for money to get back to the valley and that doesn't sit pretty with me and turning up at palace doesn't help either !
Just got back from the game. Went with a bluebird supporting mate. Not sure how it looked on tv but palace were woeful in the flesh. Cardiff deserved winners. Celebrations at the end were brilliant. Big wave of jealousy that it's not us. Still, one aim
I am sympathetic to the Oooaaahh view, I think we thought we were more special to Lennie than we actually ever really were, I think the reality was that we were just a job to him and not really much more than that, I don't think there was ever a big emotional attachment to the club from his point of view.
I certainly don't hate him just because he is now at the Beagles but, being quite frank, the bloke resigned over 21 years ago so a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then.
I would rather they get to the final and be humiliated and i would expect to see a lot of close ups of their distraught fans...or maybe they should lose now?
Bingaddick_ Let me tell you,When i worked at the valley with the old groundsman maurice,From 82 till 85 Lennie lawrence was a very smug and arrogant man behind the scenes,He dossed around most of the time.A very lucky former school teacher ,And believe me i still hate him ...
Walking back to car after work tonight, walked past a bar showing the game. As luck would have it they were showing the penalties. Couldn't go in as I had my 12 yr old daughter with me, so watched with delight from outside as Palace lost. Now I haven't lived permanently in UK for 18 years but I couldn't hide my pleasure. It struck me that I will never get over this dislike of Palace, its so deeply ingrained. Funny thing is, my daughter laughed when that last guy missed his kick.
As a young lad who got his first season ticket in 1984-5(and has had one every year since) and started going to away games regularly around that period that was when my love for charlton truely blossomed . The trips to selhurst as a 15 year old on buses and trains was proper agg but it was worth it due to what lennie was achieving and they really were miracles and for that I will be forever grateful in fact beyond grateful , I loved lennie in those days as much as I love curbs and SCP now and forever but I started losing that loving feeling for lennie with that lowball But could you imagine if curbs had bid £4m for darren bent while at west ham as manager what the views of the we don't really love curbs brigade but subsequent events have meant we were completlely wrong in what he did for our club so some revisionism is required
Lennie did a great job for us which I will always be grateful to him for, BUT in the sense we think of, Charlton he ain't.
He walked out on us to Middlesbro' supposedly going there to sign a player we had a loan from them. Not surprised he is with the nigels, it's just a job to him, can't blame him for that though.
Thought Palace were going to get away with it getting to Pens, but it was worth the earlier frustration to see their penalty efforts, classic.
Paddy MacCarthorse played to form, a big well done to him.
Lennie did work Miricles for us but the manner of his departure never seemed quite right to me. As StrikerFirmani said one minute Lennie was negotiating to sign a player from Boro and the next thing we hear is that he was so impressive that they asked him to become their manager. Just like that. I think the player negotiations concealed a lot of other negotiations too. I don't dislike him for trying to better himself. Good luck but all seemed very underhand to me. As far as I am concerned Lennie is very much yesterday's news.
even harry potter bottom right couldnt wizzard up a win for the eagles.. man there so hardcore some are wearing hoodies.... couple of wouldyas in the back row..

Why wouldn't he have used his knowledge to the benefit of his new employer? I would. I doubt there is anyone who wouldn't.
I don't care that he's back at Palarse. Good luck to him I say.
Up the Bluebirds!
Still, one aim

You simply have to hit the target from a pen spot. Can't remember a worst set of pens. Nicky Baileyesque
Can't hear it at work but it looks hilarious!
