Its a shame that there are probably 6000 fans who do not go away on a regular basis to the league games, glory boys springs to mind.
    Then don't go. Simple.

It's not surprising there arent more people going away from home if they have to meet people with that attitude.
  • Well played the ticket office. Pretty much straight thru at 1030 and all sorted really quickly.

So what?? Its a cup game and a London derby against a premiership team, what do really expect. You are never going to get 6,000 fans going to walsall on a cold Saturday so whats your point?
My point is that we are not going to win the cup, to a point this is a meaningless game.  The league games are more important.  I go to 75% of the aways, our away support at times is embarassing
  • so is most clubs these days, how many london clubs would sell out to poxy fulham lol

wow, well done you ... obviously one of the 'loyal' supporters unlike the other 6000

unbelievable ... why not just enjoy the fact that your club is taking so many fans to a 3rd round FA Cup tie ... Charlton fans being described as glory boys PMSL

Embrace the fact that we have 7,000 + fans going. Dont knock it. The argument you are making makes no sense.

We have a history of fantastic numbers supporting us away in FA cup games for some reason. It is probably because we have such a shit record in it and any glory needs grasping. I don't go away anymore ( Done 70plus grounds in my time) but I am going with ten others who mostly don't travel anymore.

Palace, Arsenal, Wolves, Ipswich, Bristol City, Manu, Bolton, did them all in the cup, amazed by the Charlton numbers.

  • Glory boy my arse. So far this season I have been to Colchester, intend to go to Yeovil, got my tickets for Orient, and will more than likely do some more away this season as well as Fulham. Not a glory boy because:

Fulham away can hardly be seen as a 'glory' fixture.

We're unlikely to win the cup, no anticipated glory there.

Have followed the lads home and (on and off) away since 1963.

Season ticket holder for 40 years straight.

Been 'involved' in many other ways.

Just because I am not a regular away fan at the moment does not mean I, and many others of the 7000, are not as passionate as a 46 game a season person, simply not in a position to do all those fixtures currently.

Whats more, if an undecided sees Charlton for the first time ever away at Fulham, I for one will be delighted not distainful, whether they know all the words to VFR or not.

We have (with the excellent work of the ticketing staff at Charlton) shifted nigh on 7k tickets in a week. Isn't that a cause for pride and celebration...and happy anticipation, rather than a reason to search out negatives and find fault?

Embrace 7000 fans going and be p***** off when home fans sing to us "is that all you take away", yeah right
  • I will be honest enough to say that i don't go to many away games.

    Is this down to choice?-No.

I have a season-ticket...go to every home Cup game...

I have a ticket for Fulham.-I had a ticket for Spurs....they are both London ties, so why shouldn't i go?

I would have gone Orient if it weren't for the time change.

All in all, when i'm 20-summat i hope to go to more...but in no way can you say some of our fans are glory boys.

  • Don't rise to it guys.

Elfsborg, since joining virtually every post has been slagging off our away support. Welcome to the site and all that malarky, but change the record pal otherwise it will only be a brief welcome !

Not looking for thanks, not saying anymore loyal, BUT perhaps with more support to get behind the team we can be more successful

Why only take 353 to Hartlepool when we are top of the league.  Irrespective of distance this is a bit dodgy

I'll think you'll find he was weighed and measured early doors.

    Exactly what I thought !
  • fairplay to the club and no teardrops (yet) about the way they have been sold , 7k is brilliant

its amazing to think we struggled to get 1000 fans away in the london premiership matches in the last few prem seasons and now we can sell 7k with ease

i suppose the price is very very attractive and the rarity of playing at a top flight club

    familiarity breeds contempt

I cannot say some of our fans are glory boys, quite right, I will be very interested to see how many go to Wednesday next month though, this is a bigger game and we can take, I believe upto 4000 in that end.  I hope we sell out

    Heje di roda!
  • beware elfsborg

the truth, unless it is praising all things charlton , is not welcome here

and it's your bedtime son lets go to sleep and count our away fans............. at fulham , you'll get to sleep before you've finished.......................(for once)

  • Well I don't know about everybody else, but as a Charlton fanatic for the last 35 years I'm loving the cup fever and joys currently surrounding the club ........ If 7000 alway fans introduces some new faces to something that has given me masses of pleasure (and plenty of pain) then bring it on and if it helps them embark on a similar obsession that is all things Charlton ......... Then it's all good in my book :-)
  • I'd rather take the wife shopping to Bluewater anyway.

    FFS.

  • I cannot see how selling 7,000 to an away game in no time at all can possibly be considered as anything other than bloody brilliant. It just shows we still have an impressive fan base and the ability to motivate them.
  • Block P5 Row E Seat 111 #Coyr
  • Also elfi I believe we get half the gate at fulham so the 7000 addicks will be putting wedge in our own clubs pocket. Plus the magic of the fa cup an all that.

You can't work out why we only get 300 odd up at hartlepool but 7000 in London against a prem team in the fa cup with tickets costing from 1 pound. What can't you work out

How fantastic it is to read such great comments from Elfsborg Addick. The fact that he has been to over 75% of our away games this season he can now officially been honoured with the title Mr Charlton. The reality is alot of people have other commitments in life such as, paying the mortgage, household bills, as well as spending time with their children and families as some parents may not get to spend enough quality time with their children during the week. However there are people on here whom when they had little or not responsabilities in life would go to over 75% of away games, watching a team with less talented players, travelling to Grimsby and Tranmere on a midweek plus many more with far less support than today.s followings. We will acknowledge your heroics thia season as we sing your name during theater game at Fulham.

  • IMO There should be no complaints. Tickets were distributed fairly and if you wanted one, You could've got one. Staff were brilliant and there is now way anyone can moan about selling 7k tickets in under a week for Fulham away!

Anyone have any news on how tickets are selling their end though ?

You can't win. He would've moaned if we never sold out yet still moans when we do! Nothing better to do.

I have no idea how many they have sold but i wouldn't be surprised if they had a less than us on the day.

Leave off. That's if you're suggesting Fulham will have less than 7000.
