No disrespect intended to Halifax by this comment but if the likes of Smith, Bover, Pritchard (if fit of course), Alonso (if fit again) etc, etc are not good enough to defeat a Conference North side why are they here?
Furthermore the likes of Doherty and Benson are being paid good money so let them earn it!
It's also an opportunity to give Harriot another taste of the (relatively) big occasion and any other "in form" academy lad who might be ready to step up a notch.
BWP needs to be rested. If we cant beat Halifax without him.... we have no chance of promotion without him

Darren Bent made it well known that he wanted to play in all fixtures regardless of the competition, and rarely missed out, occasionally on the bench but always in the squad
Why risk a first teamer getting injured, play the reserves.
And to keep the 'first team' match fit get them to play a match behind closed doors and chance being injured in that instead ? Play the full side against Halifax, let them try and turn it on and get some goals and showcase the team on tv to try and attract a few more for the next home game...
If promotion was not so important I would agree but why risk a first teamer getting clogged by a semi pro footballer on a non leagure pitch. Lets get the FA Cup out the way and get back to where we want to be.
The Shay pitch is in very good shape at the mo - I know the groundsman and he may have a few choice words for you - I will introduce u to him if you manage to get up here sometime soon . Also we stopped wearing clogs when the clog factory in Hebden Bridge shut down and we were re-born. We may be part time but we like to play football.
Don't suppose it'll happen but I'd like to see Benno up front with Hayes, Give Pritchard a start, Sullivan needs a run out and Waggy could start for a change. Not Doc or Euell, for gods sake.

Haven't read all the comments. I hope powell rests all key players and puts out a reserve side. Don't even care if we get knocked out. All about league this year. Would like to avoid a cup run.
Can't see any of the U18's being involved - they have a tough game against Palace on the Saturday and have lost their last two league games. Hart will want Harriott, Cousins, Ajayi and Azeez in his squad. Piggott, Warren and Popo are not fit after illness and injury respectively, so it will leave a mixture of first team/fringe players. BWP should be rested this weekend. The youngsters will hopefully get a run out next week against Bromley in the Kent Cup. I would like to see Smith given an opportunity against Halifax.
We are on national television, for Christ's sake!! Do we want a repeat of the shame and humiliation that we suffered against Northwich Victoria? Isn't bad enough that we have already had a bad defeat against Brentford in another cup game that was shown on Sky?
Why did you have to mention the NV game?!!??! I was at the game and all, KNOWING that we were on TV and becoming surlier and surlier by the second. It had taken me all of this season to forget that now I will have to forget all over again!
However, I don't give one if everyone in the whole wide world thinks we're the worst team in the league just because we put bad performances in on Sky, if we win the league, what difference does it make? The cup is miniscule in terms of importance compared to promotion this year, and although a (small) cup run would do nothing terrible for our confidence, i think everyone would prefer promotion right now.
Shame about Cort not playing. I'd rather we put in the proper defence rather than play Doc. I get that people are saying changing the team might be disruptive, but youv'e also got to consider the back-up players as well. They're being promised that if they keep working hard they'll break into the, so how will they feel if they can't even get a game against Halifax? There's no simple right or wrong here, it's a risk either way. I think Benno would be good to play as he's exactly the kind of player who gets goals against these sorts of teams. He got to where he is now putting away lower-league teams
Wait, what? I have no idea how we lost that. With the exception of Omuzusi and McLeod that's a decent team out. Should have had enough to beat Northwich Victoria. Just goes to show how important form and unity is
I'd go Sullivan, Morrison, Doc, Taylor, -3 at the back - Euell, Hughes, Alonso (if fit), Evina, Harriot, Waggy, Hayes - mind you, thats side has a half decent chance of losing the game! Still - will provide a challenge and a bit of excitement!
Most are saying play some reserves etc but most are choosing Hughes to play. Seeing as how Stephens is out for about 6 weeks & how well hughes has done as his replacement I would think he's one for the sidelines. Who would step in to replace Stephens shoul hughes get crocked at halifax ?
I cannot believe that some of you are advocating that we play a Reserve side.

I agree that the league has to be our first priority but it is not as though we have to contend with mid-week games either side of this fixture. No, let us be professional and put Halifax to the sword. If we are 3-0 up after an hour, then let's rest some players through substitution, but not till then.
If it wasn't national television, then play the reserve team. Play the reserve team in the second round (if we win today). We need to have players confident that they can win on live television, we drew against Sheff Weds, lost playing abysmally to Brentford and need confidence in the team that we can win against Huddersfield. For this game we need a strong core of the team from goal keeper, centre backs and centre midfield. A strong bench as well.
Pritchard has only just come back from injury and is subs bench at best.
Lets exorcise the Northwich game that the ITV ad on the net tries to play up.

Dont think Benno has travled with the squad. His brother put on his tweeter that he was going to the Daggers game.
