Wots the Team for Halifax?

edited November 2011 in General Charlton
Interested in your thoughts.  Do we keep the same starting line up?  Do we rest key players. Do we pick a JPT type team? Its not a tough month in terms of amount of games, and I have seen some games where players who have been rested, don't perform as well next time out.  Personally as there are no midweek games I'd like to see the best team available play.

  • Me too and for the same reasons.
  • Don't think Chrissy will make 11 changes but will rest BWP and any players with minor niggles. I think everybody else will play as this game is on the weekend and there are no midweek games either side of it.
  • Sullivan

Solly (fit & young, doesn't need a rest) Cort Doherty Evina

Green Hughes Alonso (if Stephens not available) Waggy

    Hayes Euell

Obviously, Udders coming up and we don't want injuries to key players.

Whatever CP does though, he knows best.

  • Sullivan
    Solly cort Taylor evina
    Wagstaff Hughes alonso/Jackson stephens
    Euell Hayes
  • If where struggling, big names on the bench such as bwp etc
  • Is cort not on international duty again?

I'd go with the full quota of 11 changes, give some of the fringe players a run out, Stephens and alonso in the middle, hayes up top waggy on the right, doc and cort at the back sully in goal evina left back, rest filled with kids, more than enough expereince there to get us through, I'd have a strong bench thou

  • Sullivan
Solly, Cort, Taylor/Morrison*, Evina  (* whichever is fitter)
Wagstaff,  Stephens/Alonso/Hughes*, Bover (* two fittest)
    Hayes, Benson

  • Depnding on fitness/injuries - my team would look something like this:

Sullivan (good to give him a game), Solly, Morrison, Taylor, Evina,Waggy, Stephens, Hughes, Jackson, Euell, Hayes, Bench: Hamer, Doc, Bover, Green, Hollands, Kermit (think it's 7 in FA cup isn't it)

BWP, Wiggins, Hollands and Kermit need wrapping in cotton wool.

Stephens desperately needs a game if fit.

I'd go pretty well with Lancashire Lad's team although I thought I read that Cort was on international duty so may need Doc instead and perhaps Harriot could come into the mix if fit.

    Sullivan

    Hughes - Morrison - Taylor - Evina

    Green - Euell - Alonso - Wagstaff

    Hayes - Kermorgant

A mix of senior players and youth (Fox and Harriott) on the bench.

    Leon Cort is unavailable.
Gary Doherty is a waste of space.
Keep the centrebacks in the team - you need a little bit of stability.
Green, Hughes and Kermit haven't played as much as the other regulars, so they stay in. Hughes moves to RB though.
Edit - Stephens is now a confirmed absentee, so Alonso starts.

  • Bwp has to play so it's a level playing field for the first hat trick...the cynical and no doubt completely way off the mark view is that if cp hadn't taken bwp off on Saturday then Jackson, on 2 goals, wouldn't have had to come off and Preston wouldn't have got their 2 goals but if that's not confirmation of how good we think this team is shaping up to be then then i don't know what is...

Chrissy has to be professional - the job was done- had BWP or JJ got injured we would have been questioning why they weren't taken off a 5-0. Chrissy will say that those remaining on the pitch should have been able not to concede 2 late goals but in all honesty, it doesn't matter. In fact - retaining confidence but not getting carried away is the best thing we could have. I see it as a free lesson becuase it cost us nothing!

If BWP got injured against Halifax- we would be saying the same so that is why he won't play. We are not going to win the FA cup and we can win the league! It's a no brainer really.

  • Cafc official have treated that Stephens to have ankle operation tomorrow but pritchard is fit again
  • sullivan

    solly doherty taylor evina

wagstaff hughes pritchard euell (personally wud rather harriott)

    hayes benson

  • Why risk a first teamer getting injured, play the reserves.
  • Nooooooooooooooooooo its about momentum. Lets not make vast changes ---------------------win the game. Score a few goals.

Keep the main tean put no more than 3 squad players in and maybe a cple on the subs bench.
  • Why risk a first teamer getting injured, play the reserves.
And to keep the 'first team' match fit get them to play a match behind closed doors and chance being injured in that instead ?

Play the full side against Halifax, let them try and turn it on and get some goals and showcase the team on tv to try and attract a few more for the next home game...

If promotion was not so important I would agree but why risk a first teamer getting clogged by a semi pro footballer on a non leagure pitch. Lets get the FA Cup out the way and get back to where we want to be.

  • Give the others a go to show why they deserve a place in a winning team

    Sullivan
    Solly     Doherty      Taylor/Morrison   Evina

Waggy   Alonso      Pritchard Bover(if fit again)

    Kermy       Hayes

Many a young player on the bench. Harriot get a run about at one point.
I'd put Cort on instead of Doherty but he's unavailable.
  • I'd go for -

                      Sullivan

    Solly    Morrison     Cort    Wiggins

    Bover   Alonso     Pritchard    Evina

               Wagstaff   Hayes

subs - Hamer, Taylor, Hughes, Green, Euell, Benson, Smith

Taylor for Morrison half time, Wiggins and Solly off at some point with Hughes and Evina fullbacks. Sorted.

  • Sulivan
    solly
    evina
    taylor
    cort
    waggy
    hugesy
    stephens
    Harriott
    hayes
    azeze
  • Play the under 18's
  • Good news is we have plenty to choose from, strength in depth. Will be an enjoyable game hopefully no injuries to any key players.
  • Players fighting for their place in the 1st will be key to this game.
  • personally i dont really want to go further than round 3 an honourable away defeat to man utd wd do me fine then

but i wdnt risk key players

sullivan solly or hughes evina docherty cort waggy stevens euell alonso or harriot hayes smith
  • Cort's away on international duty so can't play as someone else said.

Morrison and Green on 4 bookings so would avoid them playing.

Evina can come in for Jackson.   Hayes and Waggy up top with Pritchard if fit enough.

Would leave the rest of team in there for some continuity so

    Sullivan

    Solly, Mambo Taylor Wiggins
    Pritchard Hughes Hollands Evina
    Hayes Waggy.

Hamer, Morrison, Green, Kermit, BWP on the bench if needed
  • Don't think we can make wholesale changes without the risk of another Brentford in the JPT.

Halifax will be well up for this and we don't want another televised embarassment.

Rest BWP by all means but we need to keep a strong spine at centre-half and centre-mid so no changes there.

Someone like Doherty could prove a liability even against this lot.
