  • 3-0 Charlton. Green get's his first CAFC goal and Taylor scores a header from a Stephens corner. BWP round's off the win by scoring a typical poacher's goal in the last 10.

COYR those lot on the exeter form are depressing even though it's made me more confident about Saturday
  • dosent sound like green is going to be fit

    nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
  • Charlton win, Blades and MK both drop points, Addicks in the top 2 by 5pm Saturday

Whilst on holiday a couple of weeks ago I had the fortune to see Exeter v Chesterfield.  It was a pretty poor match which Exeter won 2-1.  The Grecians were the better side, though in reality neither team offered very much at all.   What surprised me was how Paul Tisdale bigged them up afterwards in his post match interview.   If that is them at their best, we have absolutely nothing fear.  I'm going for a straight 5-0.

Here's what I noticed in terms of their players:

5 Troy Archibald-Henville - Played midfield first half and looked pretty good.  Generally more defensive but arriving late into the box to support attacks.  Took their first goal well.  Dropped into the centre of defence in the second half where he didn't have to do anything because Chesterfield were so dire.
8 David Noble - Their club captain had a game of two halves.  In the first half he was the dominant force in midfield, creating most of their decent moves.  In the second half things were totally different; I don't know whether he got tired or Chesterfield sussed him out but it seemed that he just got pushed off the ball all the time.
10 Daniel Nardiello - Looked ok but isolated up front.
14 Chris Shephard - Came on late and looked very lively.  Nippy little chap.
18 Danny Coles - Had a very good game at centre half.  Always got tight to his man and didn't let him turn.  Was quite surprised when he was subbed in the second half.
32  Rowan Vine - Loanee from QPR played behind the main striker.  Had a lot of good touches, basically got everything right bar shooting.

    The Rest - anonymous.
  • Unchanged side...

    Comfortable home win.

I'd like to see Benson on the bench though.

  • Not sure  if I love or hate  this weekend.

Think it will be a home win, we have to many injuries in a wafer thin squad

I have my ten pound ticket.

Up the city, but up the addicks next weekend

  • 2-0, reasonably comfortable but any and every mistake WILL be blamed on Hayes by the clowns behind me.

(The bit in bold is absolutely 100% nailed on.)
  • Cracking write up Henry. I see Exeter as a bit of a bogey team for us, we never seem to perform as well as we should. I was at the £5 disaster and this will be my first game of the season so I'm hoping it'll be a much better performance from the boys. Will be interesting to see how much the team's style has changed between the two games. No Green is a disappointment but hopefully we'll be playing flowing football along the ground and we won't miss his crossing too much. Should be a 2-0 to The Addicks
  • We SHOULD win this one. If we don't there's something not quite right. I think we will. A nice solid performance I think. Nothing too fancy but we'll win 2-0 with Bradley getting at least one. I do think we'll come out of the blocks quickly again though as that appears to be the trend.

  • I think Powell will be telling the players how they didn't do themselves justice against Wednesday infront of the sky cameras as that wasn't the same passing side that's started the season so well in that 2nd half.

Back to the nice football that's been so evident this season before that 2nd half hoofball which will be too much for Exeter. No changes unless green is fit.

    2-0 BWP and Waggy.

    Up the Addicks!!!
  • A high-profile, prestigious social event ensures my absenteeism this Saturday, but I'm plumping for a mercy and unspectacular 1-0 win.
  • Green in for Waggy (who comes on late to scare them with his pace).  Rest unchanged.  Benson on the bench (if fit).  2-0 win with Jackson and Solly to score.
  • Last season Exeter played three in central midfield and we allowed Noble time and space all afternoon. Exeter passed us to death in the end. We've got a better midfield this season that plays on the front foot and closes down quickly. Hollands in particular wont allow that to happen this time around. 3-0.

Watch out for this ECFC fan. Two bottles are sellotaped to his hands and not released until they are empty.
He did predict a 3-1 win for ECFC so maybe we will be OK
  • Thank god he got those new curtains in. The ones before were starting to look really dated...
  • I'm expecting a solid but unspectacular 2-0 win, we come home happy but thinking there's more to come. Taylor to score as well.
  • 1-2 defeat. Smash and grab. Board goes into meltdown. Valley27000 posts 5 messages re: a pacy striker.
  • I have just seen Exeter have not scored an away goal in the league this season, I would like to revise my earlier prediction to 0-3 ;-)
  • looking forward to all of the extra "home" fans

"you're in my seat" conversations to be heard all around the ground

  • Monday should have taught us not to be complacent.

Last season Noble bossed the game at The Valley and will be playing tomorrow. IF we play for 90 minutes rather than 25 then we have a chance but will we?

Another frustrating draw to celebrate "operation £10 fans"

Green looks very unlikely to be available, bench at best, likewise Benson who is still a doubt for next Tuesday. Can't see any changes to the starting 11. Would like to see a bench of Sullivan, Evina, Pritchard, Euell, Cort (Green for Evina if fit enough).

predict a battering for Exeter, 4-0 or 5-1
  • If you're not fit enough to start you shouldn't be on the bench IMO
  • If our resident Exeter fan reads this I'd be interested in his opinion of Hamer.
  • We are always rubbish for the last ten minutes and Saint Chris seem to enjoy unnecessary nail-biting with Jason brought on to prance around the corner flag.
This really made me chuckle, very true!
  • 2-0 to us. BWP & JJ
  • don't know if it affects anyone else but:

Engineering work starting on 10/09/11 between Dartford and Gravesend.Track improvements and maintenance are taking place from 01:30 on 10/09/11 to 02:30 on 11/09/11 between Dartford and Gravesend. There are no train services calling at -in alphabetical order- Greenhithe -for Bluewater-, Northfleet, Stone Crossing or Swanscombe. However, there are connecting replacement bus services, calling at these stations, operating in each direction between Dartford and Gravesend.Furthermore, as a result of this work, High Speed train services will call additionally at Higham. Therefore a revised High Speed timetable will operate between Gravesend and Faversham. This engineering work may also affect train services to or from the following stations -in alphabetical order-: Abbey Wood, Albany Park, Bexley, Blackheath, Charlton, Chatham, Crayford, Ebbsfleet International, Faversham, Gillingham -Kent-, Hither Green, Lee, Lewisham, London Bridge, London Charing Cross, London Waterloo East, Mottingham, New Eltham, Sidcup, Rainham -Kent-, Rochester, Sittingbourne, St Pancras Intemight add a bit onto the old journeys
  • I watched them against Brentford and was left unimpressed by both teams.  Thought a draw would have been a fair result, but brentford seemed a bit more physical, and I think that was the difference.  Noble looked okay.  We should beat them if we play anywhere near our best, but if we play like we did second half against Wednesday, wouldn't be surprised with a draw.
  • If our resident Exeter fan reads this I'd be interested in his opinion of Hamer.
They loved him down at Exeter - rated him highly, Len.
  • I thought you may like to read this from our local paper

    http://www.thisisexeter.co.uk/Tisdale-bid-Charlton-keeper-funds/story-13298947-detail/story.html

Hamer is the best goalkeeper I have seen play for us for sometime. However I thought his reaction about the goal on Monday was unusual, I have not seen him chase after the referee  like that before. I have not seen the tv replays though to see if he was impeded.

According to his twitter account he is staying in the same hotel as the exeter players tonight - so says he maybe up to pranks
