Still unbeaten after 6 games and third in the table but that's still not quite enough for some.
Drawing at home to a club the size of Sheffield Wednesday can be rationalised. Failing to beat a struggling Exeter team will be seen in a totally different light by many, in particular those waiting for a slip up from Chris Powell on which to pounce.
Especially as this year Exeter have started badly. Their only win in the league has been over struggling Chesterfield. On the road they have a solitary point from a 0 - 0 draw at Stevenage leaving them one place above the relegation dotted line. Home banker then?
Yet, we at Preview Towers all remember that it was the home game v The
Grecians were the wheels came off the bus last season. 25k+ inside the
Valley stands but no one in a red shirt turned up on the pitch. 1 - 3 to
the Devonshires.
It's far too early to be talking about must-win games but at home Charlton have to pick up three points more often than not. Exeter try to play a more passing game than Megson's monoliths which should suit the likes of Stephens and Jackson. They haven't been scoring much either with former Addicks trailist Guillem Bauzà their top scorer with two. And one of those was in the cup.
Benson's twisted finger fractures may still keep him out while Cedric Evina picked up an injury in a midweek reserve game. The lesser spotted Alonso is close to being ready but it would seem that Tuesday's league cup game is more likely to see his debut than Saturday's league encounter.
Danny Green has a virus but was expected to train today and tomorrow. If he is fit then he would seem guarenteed to give more options from the bench alongside Sullivan, Cort, Pritchard and Euell.
The starting XI should be unchanged but will the tactics? Two home games on the trot we have let leads slip and three points become one. Powell will be up against a young but very shrewd coach and how each responds to changes in the game and in formation could be key.
Charlton to get their mojo back and win 2 - 0
PS If you've ever thought Addicks fans could be just a little negative or
pessimistic cop a butchers at this for what some Exeter fans predict.

I think the scrumpy may be flowing down there with one prediction of 52-15 to us.
I just cant see our back four letting in 15.
3-1, we will concede from a set play.
I do get the feeling that a number of our fans, the ones who were so negative about CP last season, are itching to say, 'I told you so' when a few results dont go our way. This game wont be it, though.
Hopefully
Great preview Henry, blimey those Exeter fans are in a bad place at the moment, I thought we could be negative.
We need to get back on track and I think we will so I am going 2-0 to the Addicks
this
1-1.
Maybe a 1-0 win, but I have a feeling it will be tougher than some on here think.
Hayes is a better player and foil for BWP than Benson IMO, Solly has been playing very well so why is he dropped, and why break up the Taylor/Morrison partnership that is looking good.
Wiggins I could see but Evina is injured. Wagstaff is playing well and doesn't deserve to be dropped. Let Green be the impact player off the bench in a league game before he gets in ahead of Waggy.
Sorry, too much change for change sake.
Sorry Muttley cant agree with you on Wiggins, I think he is the weakest of the back four, gives the ball away more than most and often mis-kicks with the ball finishing up out of play.
Maybe a lack of confidence as I am sure there is a player in there but solid is a word I would not use, Taylor & Morrison are "solid"
