in general we are trying to sign players mid twenties or younger and those that have longevity in terms of contract and being capable of playing in the Championship so Lowe a non starter I think.
I tend to agree with Large about the type of players we're trying to sign. Lowe is good but can't see him signing On a side note I'd love us to make another move for Karleigh Osborne at Brentford as he's in his last year of contract and I still think we're very short at cb. As far as forwards go I wouldn't be surprised if we end up signing at least one who we've not mentioned in any rumours.
Not a great 1st half the tempo of our passing was not as fast as it was in other games and we didn't really look like scoring, although at no point did i think Bury would in the first half either. I think the first goal was down to me and Covered End going to the toilet sorry. The second half was alot better, the tempo was alot quicker and we came out to attack straight away and the goal gave us a real lift. We were in control after our first goal up until about the 80th minute when Bury began to hit the ball long but Taylor and Morrison dealt with everything in the air.
Overall it was not our best performance but we deserved the win.
I thought we controlled the first 80 mins. However, in the 1st half, although we had majority possession, we didn't try to force anything and was happy to play the ball around and wait for something to happen. It didn't and they took the lead against the run of play. I thought at the start we'd win 1-2 & even at half time I predicted a 1-2 win.
2nd half, we went for them from the off and were comfortable having gone 1-2 up, until the last 10 mins, when they stopped trying to play football & started to launch it. However, we held out again, which I thought we would, although we were hanging on a bit in the last few mins.
Overall, a deserved win.
The truth so far, as I see it, is that we have better players & therefore should win most of the games.
However, we haven't yet seen Hudds, Sheff U, Sheff W, Preston, MKD etc, so we musn't count the chickens yet (even though I am :-)
Couldn't concentrate fully for various reasons but a few things that caught my eye:
Possibly Wiggins best game to date.
Solly defended really well again, including at least twice coming across the back four to clear dangerous dropping balls before Bury strikers latched on (mentally & physically).
Presumably without the loss of any crockery Chrissy sent them out a different side after HT. The tempo and passing we've come to expect returned and brought with it two goals & three priceless points.
Shame Bury don't attract more support after promotion. Nice ground and nice folk. Really don't see the point in chants abusing them although singing was good over all.
Industrious debut for Green but there's much better to come. Possibly trying a little too hard after having to wait. No harm in all that pent up energy though as long as it's chanelled to best effect.
Stephens' pass for the winner was outrageous, and Jacko, with his tremendous knack of being there, read it and finished it so well. Nice of them to save the goals for our end.
We scored the goals during our best spell then saw off a hard-working team who might turn over a good few more there. Great to know we could respond and win without really being at our best.
From A Rangers Fan who went to the game stopping off on way back home from Scotland. Charlton were awful first half & deserved to be behind. Second half what a turnaround could have won by more, Sodje should of been sent off for elbowing Wagstaff. Much Improved side from the one I saw last season.
did we not sing 'He's not Sam, he's his brother' ?
Did the Incest Song get an airing ? I hope not. If not that is three away games and it's not been sung. Why must we continue to do so at The Valley then ?
I'm afraid to our shame the incest song was sung but apart from that it was a great day.
Liked Bury as a place and a new ground for me ( number 72 current over 100 including old stadiums and clubs no longer in the league) .
The Stadium was a classic old fashioned lower league ground with pillars blocking the view , which is why I noticed our left side looked potent because I kept needing to change position . In the first half I hardly moved.
Just watching "the season so far..." video on CAFC player where you can see Dale Stephens' assist on the second goal much better, I suggest everyone else does the same. What a pass.

Neither of those cost a penny. Lowe would.
