It is almost envitable that the first game of the season will be much tougher than it should be on paper -why is that so often the case. I can see Bournemouth taking a shock lead and us coming back and grabbing a late winner -2-1.

Its because all teams are starting the season refreshed, full of hope and expectation with nothing to lose, even if they do in their first game it's not the end of the world; Norwich losing 7-1 at home to Colchester 2 years ago springs to mind. Charlton have rebuilt the vast majority of their squad for the better and the new wave have no negative thoughts of past failures in their heads. Bournemouth will be no pushovers but they have been decimated staff and player wise in the last 6 months so Charlton are both mine and the bookies favourites (odds on) to win this match.
I think the team will be Hamer; Hughes, Morrison, Taylor, Wiggins; Wagstaff, Hollands, Stephens, Jackson; Hayes, Wright-Phillips.
I think Charlton will win this one, it won't be a big win though as Bournemouth are a decent side and Charlton won't have gelled as well as they can yet. I predict a 2-1 win to Charlton which would be a very good start.
We're going the same route as did Norwich in my eyes - which bodes well for the end of the season, but not for the first few games and Norwich legend Brynn Gunn Charlton legend Chris Powell
I predict that my wife and I will park in our special place, eat our cornish pasties etc and do the Telegraph crossword while listening to the early match. Anything good after that is a bonus. Point being it's not just about the 90 minutes; it's a way of life.
1-1... it'll take us a few weeks to settle. Let's be patient... for a while
I don't think the play will be fluid for long periods, but on the basis of the goals I can see coming from the strikers and midfield this season, believe we'll have too much for Bournemouth on the day. A 3-1 win - BWP x 2 & Wagstaff - COYR!
Team pretty much picks itself apart from the GK and RB slots.
I predict we will start this season slowly, please lets be patient and get behind the team
2-2, Wagstaff puts the addicks in front with an early goal before the cherries come back to lead 2-1 with a goal either side of half time. BWP snatches equaliser with around 12 minutes to go. (I'd love to know the odds for all that to happen)
Great to have the football season back. Here's hoping this squad will do a Brighton and romp to the title. Think we'll all have to be patient though as I reckon it could be a win one, lose one start in first ten games. Imagine seeing Powell with the League One trophy though...come on you Addicks!!!!!
No excuses left for Powell now. This is his team, and with the players he has assembled (on paper at least) he simply cannot fail. Or put it this way, if we are outaside the top six after a while, he will be gone.
As for tomorrow - 1-2 Bournemouth. I need to be convinced that the tactical weaknesses of last year are gone.

Not got a clue how this one will pan out. Literally could end up at anything from a scrappy 0-0 to a rout for either side.
The Cherries will be up for this one even more than last year and I expect a decent turnout from them as well.

2-1 to us. Time to gel and all that.
BTW if you know the posters you can hazard a good guess, at their prediction & you'll be most likely correct.
I just knew Golfie would predict an away victory, sorry Golfie :-)

Don't read too much into these results though - hopefully complacency will creep in!
I think 2-0 to Charlton but will be a close game

If it's sunny, 1-1 (9th)
If it's raining 2-1 to us (5th)
Any other weather conditions, 0-0 (12th)

3-0 Charlton
BWP, Jackson & Waggy
COYR Cant wait!
Hayes and Holland.

Team:
Hamer
Hughes - Morrison - Taylor - Wiggins
Wagstaff - Stephens - Hollands - Jackson
BWP - Hayes
That's EIGHT debutants in the same side!!! Surely that will be a CAFC record.
Result: 2-2
Methinks we are going to score a LOT of goals this season, the bad thing is that we will concede plenty as well.
Still to be convinced Powell is the man but on paper we look bloody strong this season.
2-0 Bournemouth, team is still gelling and its all Parkys fault
Imagine seeing Powell with the League One trophy though...come on you Addicks!!!!!
