2-2. BWP and Waggy will score the goals in a game in which we could have scored 8 but also could have conceded 8 as the 5 stangers at the back get their wires crossed on more than one occasion. Hayes MOM in attack, Hamer to get us out of jail.
I'm expecting a draw, but followed by a top four finish. It is easy to get carried away I know, but a win by three goals is something I can't imagine against a very well run club. If we manage it, I'll be the 74 year old skipping towards the coach !
Going early, getting the kids' new shirts, looking forward to it a lot. We're better than last year on paper, they are worse. We've got their best two players, they tried to sign Simon Francis!!!
Extremely excited, Bournemouth mate coming down for drinks before and after, fingers crossed I dont have to listen to any abuse come 5 o clock but dont think I will. Think we'll concede though, 3 1 addicks.
We win by one goal but with some coronary-inducing defending and chances on both sides that really should have been scored. Signs of greatness but also of nerves and a need to stabilise as a team.
Haven't Bournemouth pretty much lost their entire team this summer? Going to be hard for them.
Last few years our first goal of the season has come from new centre backs (Hudson,Dailly,Doherty) so I'm going to put some money on Morrison and Taylor.
Think it'll be tight, but a 2-0 win would do very nicely
Surprisingly had a decent goalscoring record for Hibs last season. He'd have probably have scored more than Abbott or Anyinsah if he had been given more starts.
We have taken their 2 best players, and this time last season with our shit team we won 1-0 so in theory we should run them off the park. BUT this is Charlton and we always do it the hard way!
4 - 3 to Charlton, setting the tone for the season with a combination of scintillating attacking football and woefully inept defending, a bit like Keegan's Newcastle first time round.
Very nervous about this game and the huge levels of expectation placed on an untried team of L1 level players.
If we don't look like Barcelona and have a comfortable lead after 20 mins, I can see the Valley being a very edgy and nervous place to play football. Bournemouth are no mugs and will know that we are still very poor at set pieces and basic crosses into the box and remain slow at the back and lightweight in midfield.
Despite the huge optimism we all have, we have not fully addressed the basic weaknesses of last season.
Fortunately it is my youngest's 18th birthday, so this will guarantee a 4-0 home win and much Grumpy family jubillation.
Would love to see a regulation 2-0 with no real drama's in front of our own goal, but hey this is Charlton and we have never been able to see out a game in comfort no matter what 11 have been put out, therefore I predict us to take the lead early with a AFCB leveler just before half time.
Second half we come out all guns blazing with 2 further goals added by 65 mins, but enevatably AFCB add a second to leave us hanging on for the final 10 mins.
3-2 to CAFC
We all know if we are hanging on the last 10 mins AFC are guaranteed to score around the 88 minuite mark!
Think it will be a 2-0 home win. We have just got so used to Charlton doing it the hard way with the way things have gone in the last few seasons that we actually expect our team to mess things up. Not this time, its a new dawn, gone are the underachievers,in are young, hungry players, some of which were the cream of L1 last season...Lets get behind our new team, lets not be pessimistic, lets not overbear them with unrealistic pressures of expectancy. Let them do their job and we as supporters shall do ours!!! COYR
After Solly's player ratings last season when he got a game at RB, with his record of linking up so well with Wagstaffe, and with so many other strangers in red on the pitch, I think it'll be a great shame if he doesn't start. Otherwise the team practically picks itself, barring any late injuries to fingers.
After reading through Bournemouth forum, they seem optimistic their going to get the 3 points, but I'm pretty sure Powell know's he has to get of the way he want's to continue, and now we've seen JJ be made captain I'm more optimistic, Unfortunately we won't have Green due to his 2 game ban he has to serve but I can still see us winning this.
Expect our play to be progressive rather than fluent just yet, it will come given time though.Ultimately what we want is results & I expect us to deliver on this front this season. A one goal home victory.
Flying down from Glasgow on Sat morning. Looking forward to it, but in usual CAFC fashion, expecting a 0-1 or 0-2, with one of the new centre halves getting sent off and lots of frustration round The Valley....oh for it to be different!!

Its all about opinions but what is this based on ? From what I have seen pre season how can Green (Wagstaff) Hollands Stephens Jackson possibly be labelled lightweight? Or that with an untried back 5 assuming this includes Hughes and Hamer on Saturday we are still weak at set pieces and crosses? I''m reserving my opinions on sections of the team until at least 10 games in. I know its hard to be a Charlton fan at times but you don't have to maintain that grumpy image at all times after all I'm alive and kicking! Clean sheet and 2 for BWP 2-0 Charlton COYR
we never do things the easy way at Charlton so I see a fluctuating game with some good stuff, lack of understanding between team mates and ultimately a frustrating draw.

We've often struggled against Bournemourh. Their record is the second worst of the teams we'll be playing this season ( PNE worst ).
I'd like to post the stats by opening a new discussion but my vast computer skills don't get me further than 'body required'. Help appreciated.
Their last season's best player is on our side : we win 2-0 .
We'll score more than we let in.
2-1
So much optimism going round, I fully eect a classic Charlton deflation on Saturday. Think our defence is looking very ropey.
High score draw: 3-3 / 4-4
First time I'll be missing the opening home game - hope you all enjoy yourselves.

yep and the over excitedness of some that kakpo had scored and was gonna be a half decent squad player for us was as usual nowhere near accurate
and that was his one goal in 2 starts and 19 sub appearances for us last season
