  • 4 is an unlucky number is some Asian countries such as Japan and is sometimes called the number of death.

But numerologists think 11 is a special number and that all multples of it are special too

Or it could be because Robbie birthday in 4th April
ah .. the code master .. are you Mr Erriot's feng shui consultant?
  • Who used to wear number 44?  Was it Danny Mills?
    yh he did

    yh he did
And it's also the waste measurement of JFH's old Charlton shorts.
  • I'd be worried to see a goalkeeper with the number 13 turn up, albeit as first/second/last choice...
I see it as a good sign.  Our manager is working on logic not superstition - that can only be a good thing.
  • just proves robbie is proper charlton.

choosing 4-4 is no coincidence thats the best scoreline we acheived when he played against scumtrawl.

    It's all in the numbers

Note that Hayes is number 9 which is the number of patience, meditation and harmony.  Just what a clever hold up player like Paul brings to a team

Oh it's so obvious, how did we miss it.

Which game did Robbie attend as a young boy at Wembley with his dad?

    The 4 - 4 play-off final of course.

    Nice one Robbie, very clever.

b t w .. is Paul your coz, brother or son?
  • new numbers at last and TBH they don't mean that much apart from the fact that I now Know what will be on the back of my shirt

You'd be an old hippie. I refer you to Mr Ken of Bexley for further information.   : - )

    Half-brother.  it's a long story

if i'd been promoting his signing as much as you Henry i'd certainly be clinging to the patience element of that
  • Apparently Andrew Davies is signing a loan deal at Palace tomorrow, so that can be put to rest.

In Japan 7 is their lucky number, or happiness.
As well as the 4 you correctly identify Henry, 9 is seen as suffering. Sorry. But only in Japan of course!
  • to be fair, i think Hayes has a role to play, a steady eddie link up player but can't see him terrorising defenses and think we need a bit more as well

Ok for good tickets then .. enjoy

I think we'll see him having to fight for a place with the target man we'll (hopefully) sign.

Even though Hayes is starting as first choice it might turn out that a big strong target man is more of a goal threat, suits BWP better or makes the team that bit more physical.
  • I am confused with this striker situation

It is clear we want 4 headline strikers from Powell's interview

However didn't Slater talk about a need for pace,,,

Hayes is a target man type striker, Benson and BWP are goal-snatchers, only BWP has any real pace... if he's injured aren't we just going to be left with 3 relatively immobile strikers if we are focusing on a "target man"?
  • Everyone's talking about the need for a striker but to me a new starting CB is an even bigger priority for the squad.

    agreed
  • Everyone's talking about the need for a striker but to me a new starting CB is an even bigger priority for the squad.
Think both are crucial to be honest
  • We defo need a 'Danny Green' standard signing at CB to really finish the squad off.

And I would suggest a target man, and a nippy striker (Schlupp?). Could imagine Benno being the odd one out then.

  • Elliot saying all the right things to ensure he gets a nice cut on any transfer, not asking for a transfer or signing a contract........................... hmmmm
So that's something you know for a "fact" or something you just made up?

He is saying the right things - "FACT"

He has not asked for a transfer - "FACT"

He has not signed a new contract - "FACT"

If none of the above changes and we choose to sell him, he's "likely" to get a cut of any transfer fee ................................. hmmmm

Is that better ? or is it still made up ?

IF (that big word) it came to a one or the other, I consider a defender to be much more important to the present team, we have decent strikers but still look a bit flimsy in defence

    Here's the quote http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/sport/9165983.More_new_signings_expected_at_Valley/

“Clearly with Bradley Wright-Phillips we’ve got a striker who in this division you can confidently predict will get us 20 plus goals this season.

“If we could find another one like that - not necessarily the same style because Bradley is very much a poacher - like everybody else we are looking for a strong target man and we could probably do with a bit of pace.

I wouldn't be surprised if Benson leaves or the pace comes from a winger/striker Eccleston type who can also cover for Jackson.

As it stands Mambo is 4th choice CB Popo is 4th choice ST

Neither is a desirable situation but I could accept either argument!

So ideally then we are looking for a cross between Schlupp and Howard ;-)

As you say Benson leaving fits the equation better...

You forgot  - jump to conclusion "FACT".

    HTH...

That would be ideal, but you don't get pacey skillful targetmen who score goals at this level. Or at least if you do somehow find one, they won't be playing at this level for long.
