think raizak's criticism is a bit harsh. he is nowhere near fitness or his sharpness. think powell should keep him on for a little bit longer and have a look.
Even when fully fit, Raziak is unlikely to tear around the park, snapping into every challenge - he's more like Todorov; very good touch and good in the air. Albeit at a relatively leisurely pace, last night's performance was pretty much what to expect from him. He'd bring something different but some might consider his input a "luxury".
Bizarre to hear Alonso's performance criticised. Before he went off I thought he was streets ahead of any other midfielder on show. He'll bring quality when he's fit; let's hope the knock last night doesn't set him back too long. Similar type of player to his brother.
Mambo did well again, as did his young cb partner, Semi Ajayi. Both have clearly been encouraged to pas out from the back. Sadly, their first goal again highlighted Sullivan's apparent weakness on crosses. Shame as he's clearly a good shot-stopper, and talks well to his defence but it's just so important.
Spoke briefly to Bover at ht. He trained yesterday, is loving being at the club, and when I complimented him on his pre-season form, assured me there's a lot more to come. I'm sure he would've said "you ain't seen nothing yet" if he was into Smashy & Nicey.
I agree Paddy. Alonso was decent in the first half until the unfortunate challenge. The only concern about the midfield is that while all four were technically sound, there was no sign of them being able to exert their authority on the most important part of the pitch and allow Charlton as a team to boss the game.
I appreciate that when it comes to playing teams like Carshalton, this is what the spectators want to see, so I understand they were left wanting by some performances. But last night was far from a horror show, far from.
The 1st Carshalton goal was a cross that Sullivan shouted out mine, came to claim it and made a horlicks off it , 1st clanger i've seen him make , guess he's human , good job the game was not at the Valley , maybe this Ben Hamer thing has unsettled him as well , perhaps he thought he could challenge Robbie , but can he challenge Hamer?
Better to make it now than when it really matters.
At least he made an attempt to be commanding and claim crosses.

Mistakes happen especially with goalkeepers.
