It's never been any different. There's just more money involved now. Wherever there's vast pots of cash to be siphoned out, there'll be moody c***s and scumbag lawyers involved doing it. Make no mistake about it, something unpalatable is involved behind the scenes with us as well. It is at every club.
Aslong as we play good football and I enjoy myself on a saturday after working the whole week I couldn't really care less who the mystery fat cats are behind the scenes (to a certain extent) I know it sounds bad, that's probably because it is!
Love it or hate it Football is a business and we all quite happily aid it with Sky Sports etc. As a Charlton fan, you obviously want to see us in the best division playing the best football ever. But when you think about it, would you rather be a City fan whos selling Tevez for £35m+ and then buying the next Mr 200k a week, or little old Charlton fan wheeling and dealing for Dagenhams best player for 300k? I'd take my little old Charlton any day.
Just watched it ... interesting program and can certainly see the similarities with our situation.
But if our owners get us into the Premiership, stay for a season, and then sell ... should I be worried? Possibly, it depends on who they sell us to and how much they take out. It's quite possible that one years takings in the premiership will be enough for them to say they have made a big profit and leave.
As long as we are on a sound footing ... and I admit it's a big if ... then fine. Not that concerned at present based on what we hear from Slater / Jiminez and it would be good to get the answers to the key questions that Henry mentioned ... but I think we know that won't happen ... at least not yet,
