not a lot .. for as long as UK company law is so complex
Not a lot to do with UK company law though, is it? They're all offshore co's, so no UK jurisdiction in that sense.
Like, for example, a British Virgin Islands company run from Switzerland. Don't know where I plucked that one from!
the point is .. no matter where they are registered, companies must still abide by English or Scottish law when operating in the UK .. your swiss owned v i company must abide by, for example, minimum wage and health and safety law and the foreign registration must comply with criteria outlined in the companies acts
The one thing that was most worrying of all was the amount of clubs owned and no one knows who actually owns them. I knew there were quite a few but not as many as they through out in the programme. The football league saying we don't have enough money to research the owners makes a whole mockery of the fit and proper persons process.
Am I being to simplistic by saying can't they change the rules so that all owners, financiers, shareholders etc. must be disclosed in full? Or are they just too scared to shake the very fragile house of cards at the moment?
Football clubs and the minimum wage! Now that is a modern day chalk and cheese!
give it time! .. things are getting tough (ish)
I missed it, sky +'d it but wont watch it til tomorrow. Any chance of a brief summary?
English football is run by a bunch of chinese gangsters who are based in thailand .. ferguson (a) is a drunken and corrupt old sot .. the player loan system is rotten to the core and should be suspended immediately and bryan robson, who couldnt manage a piss up in a brewery is the new management guru for the far east gambling gangsters

The problem is English company law, you can't impose one set of rules just for English football clubs, that would be illegal. In any case the clubs have legit owners on paper who have passed the "fit and proper" owners test. The real problem is who are behind the owners.

But if you don't know who they are, how can you ensure full disclosure ?

Basically a ' what Bryan did next....'. I'm only halfway through it myself. So far he's sold Cardiff for twenty quid and introduced to all his new bent Asian chums. Expecting the second half to hot up when he'll probably blow all his commission in a chick boy joint.

99% of this country's assets are probably owned and run from Berlin, Beijing, New York, Moscow and Jerusalem .. we are a banana 'republic' with not even a banana tree

Well, if you think you know best I'll leave it there then.
To be honest, I'm surprised how many of you are shocked about this. Football has been crooked for years and only a fool can't see this. Like any laws or rules, if there's money to be made, there will be those who will break these laws/rules in order to get a slice. All we supporters can do is hang on for the ride or jump off. Stinks i know but hey!
The only thing the football league and premiership have to do, is stop transfers or loan players during the season and you can only change your registered players once a year (May to July) this way Mr Sim wouldn't have anything to sell

Do you have any evidence to back up that rather stupid claim?

As well as several highly qualified lawyers and rich Asian businessmen...

Quite suprised Charlton were not mentioned.
I better go and watch it now then...
Again gets you wondering who owns us....
Yep
Or who tried to... didn't murray reject one takeover bid before our current owners came in?
Murray made it clear he only wanted to sell to the right people, with Varney involved I'd like to think we're in safe hands.
But of course I can't be sure.
