Exciting times ahead with a near new team I'm giving Powell the whole season to do something,as long as they go up I don't care where they are in september or late jan,as for paul hart ever managing us that's as scary as les reed coming back
I have found out from a very reliable source that he has seven games to do the business. Let's hope he does as I don't think I could take any more changes!
Can we not get rid of this please? Not having a pop at your very first post nor saying your 'source' is lying but this is exactly the sort of balls that gets picked up by the press (and we do have journo's on here) and reported as "fact".
True or not, I don't think that sort of unsubstantiated rumour (and that's all it is unless you've a hotline to the Mysterons) is very helpful to our preparations to the season.
Welcome to the board BTW.
Fair enough, but I read the boards every day and it was just too tempting as this was a genuine comment from a friend of mine... Sorry guys.
As I've mentioned, very positive about this season and can't wait for it to start!
And thanks for the welcome, hopefully we'll be discussing a contract EXTENSION soon enough. ;-)
Seriously, do we really need this sort of thread right now?
It's a football forum and the question has crossed all of our minds at one point. I'm expecting a solid season with a stronger finish than start with the playoffs at the end. For me he needs all season unless things go very very wrong.

Don't believe every rumour?
You think that the board would let CP spend all this money and completely change the squad, bring in players for the youth team and then will give him just seven games?
Never crossed my mind this summer SHG. Why start trying to put time limits on things at this stage. Smacks of boredom at best, trying to undermine all the good work that's being done at worst.
Some people have already made clear they wanted him out and whilst some may be happy to eat humble pie others appear to be incapable of adapting their views and just want to be proven right at all costs - even if that means a shit start/season.
Double helping of troll for Friday afternoon. Great
I wondered how long it would be before the cardigan police would turn up...
Instead of dazzling us with an array of your internet bullying skills, why not bestow upon us a dollop of your vast footballing expertise and give us a simple opinion for once..?

I said that I hoped it wasn't true, and feel that it won't matter anyway as we're putting a really decent squad together now. I wouldn't normally go for a comment like the one my friend made, but there was no reason for him to say it in the first place so it got me thinking...
I'll make sure that these things stay quiet in future. Apologies for any offense caused chaps.
As previously proved our board are unhappy with 5th place and since we have languished in 5th for the last few weeks I hear Powells position is already under threat.

Perhaps we should change our name to AFC Charlton, I'd settle for second...
WSS, other than Alonso is there one player you can reasonably say Powell didn't pick?
Morrison played alongside him, Pope, Bover and Pritchard were on trial, Hayes he wanted in March, the others played against us last year. Powells team as it should be.
There will be no excuses now that Powell has (within budgetary limits) got the players that he wanted. He now has to orchestrate a symphony in a very short space of time. I think he'll do it and do it well. Win lose or draw, the board has burnt a few bridges by appointing Powell and giving him a big budget. He'll get at least one season.
I am looking forward, as usual, to a VERY successful season. One little quibble though and YES, it's about size. Both the new centre halves are just 6 foot. Greer, the vital cog in last seasons' Brighton machine is 6 foot 3. I know all about Perry and his leap etc etc but a tall central defender in this division is absolutely essential. I cant wait til early August.

No need to keep schtum in every case fella - just think right at this moment in time, whether it's true or not, it's not the best time to be putting that particlaur nugget in the public domain.
