Reading this thread back Cawley has been playing catch-up all the way through. Initially was saying the accepted bid was from Peterborough. Ah well, at least he has his exclusive now.
Loving all the Sheff Wed fans thinking somehow they are a better prospect than us. Although quite pleased that our takeover and investment has gone under the radar.

If anyone feels like being negative, maybe we could only afford Green and Stephens because we got around £1m for Jenkinson...
I don't think so as I expect we'll spend more on centre backs if we need to. Seems we put in bids of £200/300k+ for Magnus O and Wiggins.
I can't help feeling that we will end up getting loanees from above as CB's unless we really push the boat out price wise which I don't think they will.

Think you will see us paying around 800k on two centre halves
Time will tell. If they do I won't be unhappy. We need to build for the future and some class defenders would really go a long way to getting things off to a great start.
My only reason for doubting it is that the noises leaking out of the club is that they are struggling to attract decent ones.

Will we get the quality that we need for that kid of poppy?

Large i really hope your right , every time i think of last season and how poor our defence was i cringe, at the moment it feels Charlton feels a bit like a classic car you've inherited , its just come out of the garage and it needs a lot of work to bring it back to its former beauty.
The seats are ok leather and beige , (Waggy , Elliott , Jacko & BWP) but could do with a buff , but the tyres are knackered and past their sell by date , the spoiler at the back just has to go (Francis or Mcoxo take your pick) and hopefully the paint job is being done tomorrow (Agent Green & Dale Winton).
LMAO Mendonca.........You sound like swiss tony talking cars, "Washing a car, is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. You've got to caress the bodywork. Breathe softly and gently. And give every inch of it your loving attention. And make sure you've got a nice wet sponge".
As far as I know the average League One Salary is between £1k and £2k I think we may well be paying just over the average for the new signings we are making.
I do know however, that in our first season in League One the average was £2k, but with teams like Leeds, Norwich, Southampton, Brighton etc gaining promotion the average wage would have decreased. There are a lot more so called, "smaller clubs" in the league this season than there were in the first season of when we got relegated to League One.

Thats an excellent comparision , i'd not thought of that, i'm sure Mr Slater could use the analogy though, the car one not the woman one.

Wouldnt be at all surprised.
