I feel as sure that Francis will not be a first choice player next year as i did that our centre midfield would be completely overhauled once the new regime got going. I'm also convinced that JJ will play wide left if we go 442. Like the look of this guy - a bit of 'nous' that we needed in the middle along with a bit up front in Hayes (i'm assuming). Now, for the centre halfs and the spine of the team will have been replaced - thank god
Somebody please explain exactly why Mambo should be in the team ?
He went on loan to a non-league team & sat on the bench for part of that loan. He has been kept on solely to see if he can develop into a centre back, not because he is in any way ready for 1st Division football.
"Mambo big, tough, no nonsense defender" Oh really & in what games that you've seen has he displayed those "qualities" Lincs ?
Francis ? Can't defend, caught out of position constantly, can't turn when a winger just knocks it past him & runs. Can rarely pass to a red shirt. Was the weak link in the weakest back 4 I can remember seeing in the last 30 years
You guys really think Francis is a better option than Solly?
Not sure if you're asking me, but no, Francis (the crossing specialist to some) is not a good option and hopefully will not have to feature in what i hope is a footballing team being put together by Powell. RM kept stressing the word 'competitive' team this time last year and i think we had a team who could compete but didn't have one that could play football and i don't see Francis as having any part to play in a team looking to play football.

yes, Solly is too small for the division as a defender, lots of high balls, balls pushed in behind him etc. Ironically he'd do better in the championship . This division?, he'd do better as a wide attacker
Yet again the Mambo debate rears its head. Failed to impress at any of his loan clubs. Failed to impress at Shrewsbury. Amazed he was kept on. Forget him. He wont be anywhere near the first team next season.
he should not have been given a contract then, why do you think he was re-signed?

God knows.
They must be worried about another Danny Shittu situation.
Hope he proves me wrong but I suspect there is more chance of him becoming a Ryman League stalwart.
All true re:mambo but Jenkinson didn't impress on loan either and look at him now.
Someone thinks one more season on low wages is a risk we can afford. Can't say I'm optimistic but we moan if we don't give the kids contracts and moan when we do.

It's nonsense to say Solly is too small - sure he's not the biggest but he's got spring heels ( just like Chris Perry). He gets up just as well as people a lot bigger than himself and in the games I saw him play last season, I don't recognise your criticism of him. Plus throw in the fact he clearly wants to play for us and as far as I'm concerned he's nailed the number 2 position down for me next season.

Re Mambo: We've long had a habit of releasing centre halves too early (eg Linvoy Primus, Michael Turner, Danny Shittu) so they are clearly hedging their bets by giving him another year.

we will see. i expect that Solly will get the job but I would prefer the bigger Francis in defence and to see Solly as an attacker/midfielder.
Mambo did impress with Staines the season before last, that was in the Blue Square South.
It was Eastbourne in the Blue Square Prem where he struggled, after a few games he was dropped to the bench.
I think he went back to Staines at Christmas, but pretty sure he was recalled around the time Powell took over, probably so he could have a look at him.
As said he's obviously seen as a cheap risk we can afford to take (same with Davisson). Sometimes a young player suddenly pushes on and takes his game up a level or two. He'll know it's his last chance here. I agree with others he probably won't make it here.

No comparison. All were released when we were at a much higher level.
They all stepped down before coming good. They werent good enough for the PL at the time.
Mambo probably isnt good enough for league football.
He admitted: "I don't know everything about League One, the kind of games to expect, but I always think football is football."Its 11 against 11 and I just hope these things I have learned I can apply them to this league. At the end of the day it is one ball, two sets of teammates and two goals.--------------------------Ah, thats how we managed to sign him then.Guess we should keep going abroad for players then, they don't know what awful league they are getting themselves into.

Nothing I have seen suggests he will up his game.
We'll see.
