I take my hat off to all of you. Just reading the original post, I had no idea what the implications of the changes were, good or bad, or who most of the people involved are. So I'll take it on trust from everyone else that this is a good thing.
I do doubt that the 'mysterons' have anything but a completely passive role in any of this. My guess is Slater and Jimenez pull all the strings and the mysteron thing is overplayed. When we were owned by shareholders we still had very rich minority shareholders didn't we? I think this is the same thing.
This, to me, is the biggest statement of intent so far by the club. Putting in place this sort of infra-structure (not cheap) underpins where the new owners want to take the club and can only be extremely positive.
Spot on as far as I am concerned. I said this in the CP at Bromley Addicks thread iro Jeff Vetere. Paul Hart is a superb appointment.
The restructuring off the field is great news. It's a statement of intent and shows that Slater and Jiminez are thinking long term. SCP is the right man in charge on the field, Hollands and Sullivan are good signings and Hayes looks to be following shortly. I have no doubt that a defender of SCP's ability will bring in defenders of the right quality over the close season. I expect this is where most of the money available will be spent. Next year will be very different from last year.
This is excellent news. I've always liked Paul Hart and this shows intent from the Board that they want to build from the bottom up. I'm excited about all of this and it shows there is money around as all this is not cheap.
Seems not to be mentioned so far but how about if CP still cant get it sorted by Xmas , wouldnt the owners already have a caretaker manager in place re Paul Hart ? done it at several clubs already. Business Continuity Planning in action.
Very pleased with this set up which has a real statement of intent about it. Having the desire to maintain our youth academy status and introduce change to the structure in order to keep the "Premier League" happy should tell us all we need to know about building the foundations. Now they need a period of grace from everyone in order to get the first team squad fit for purpose, as that's not going to happen overnight.
The Mysterons seems to be supporting some positive moves regarding the structure . Would like to see some of the positive rumours regarding transfers become confirmed before breaking out the bubbly.

I don't get it, I've never heard of a Prince Song called Business Continuity Planning - was it a B-Side?
Returned home from sooper Kent's latest non event in Tunbridge Wells and saw this.
Haven't read any other posts but feel like say " Oh, ye of little faith ! " ....as a comment on those who have doubted Messrs Slater & Jiminez.
When the takeover happened and we were assured of Peter Varney's role in the new "regime", I posted that he would be the cornerstone of the rebuilding of our Club and on such firm foundations the future of Charlton should not be doubted.
As others have probably pointed out, success isn't solely dependant on the players we sign, or the money spent on the squad but on the infastructure which is currently being strengthened - not with merely promotion in mind but the long term future of this Club we love.
For me, our owners have hardly put a foot wrong since they came aboard. For some, patience and a degree of faith might have been employed. For all, the proof of that pudding is now being served ....and we should be gratefully licking our lips.
I'm betting the faithful at The Boleyn would gladly swap owners with us.
On my Baby's life bruv .. Awoke at about 3.30 to the early dawn chorus, turned on the digital radio, tuned to 'Absolute Radio 90s' and guss what song was playing?
(go on 'ave a guess)
'Money Dont matter 2night' by (you've guessed already) Prince or the AFKAP as he might have been calling himself in those days (1991). I have not heard a Prince song on the radio for I don't know how long.
Is the message in the song?. It's not the money that matters it's the team spirit and the love etc etc
On one hand I'm very impressed with the structure that is being formed. But I can't help but retain nagging doubts we are putting a Hugo boss suit around an ugly scrawny body. Yes, of course look to the long term, but if we don't get out of this league in a Year or two we might not have a long term, so it will be interesting how much of an impact this has on our playing budget because this will be a structure not a single other league one club will be maintaining .

Surely, we wouldn't be putting in this structure, if we thought we were staying in League 1. No I'm with Fanny on this. I've got my rose tinted glasses back on & I have every confidence, that we will sign good enough players to be challenging for the automatics or play offs at the very least.
I just don't think we will be spending millions on transfer fees, like I think Soton did overall with Fonte, Lambert, Barnard, Richardson etc.
It's true what the owners say. There's no point spending hundreds of thousands on players, if you can pick them up for free. If we pick them up for free, we can possibly offer better wages.
Truth is we will have to be patient & no one knows for sure, but I'm feeling optimistic :-)
I can see what AFKA is saying. There has to be a balance between long term investment in scouting and academy infrastructure and the short term investment in the first team.
But one first team player's wages are likely to be the same as all the 7 regional coaches and Hart is filling the vacancy left by Matthew. Peacock seems to have a part time role so we have 3.5 first team managers/coaches as opposed to 3 with PP/MK/TB.
Vetere is an additional cost as well but how much we don't know much of one or what benefits he will bring.
Again the numbers are not clear and we've yet to see much actual spending on players. That is not a moan as it's only June. More will happen and the picture will hopefully become clearer.
I hate to agree with Covered End on anything but I think my view is closer to his than to Fanny's (the pudding is still a long way from being even cooked let alone eaten IHMO) or misery gut Bartram's. : - )
It is always a balance between investing in infrastructure to improve the medium to long-term and spending for short term gain. In my experience good - well run businesses manage to do this effectively.
There are things at our club that could do with long-term investment but which can wait a few years. Improving the stadium and increasing its size for example. Whilst those could be goals, they are not required at present. Getting scouting and academy issues right on the other hand cannot reasonably put off now for a club whose Board has the ambition to return to the Premier League in the medium term. The new Premier League approach to academies needs to be addressed now or we shall miss the boat.
Clearly they are also in the process of short to medium term spending on squad improvement sufficient to give a push to promotion in the next season or two and beyond.
Henry has pointed out that in cash terms, there may not be a much extra being spent in this announcement. I am not sure about that. Its the plan that I like. Having a cogent plan and bringing in key personnel such as Paul Hart and Jeff Vetere to deliver it is more important that the £ signs. It shows long-term vision and determined intent.
Ultimately the size of the potential money available via Jimenez and Slater is uncertain. For those rightly skeptical awaiting action not just words, they have with this re-structure demonstrated in my view, not only that they have a plan, but also a cogent delivery structure to meet their stated goals of evolutionary change leading the club back to the top flight.
The Prince/Vetere looky/likey thing is amusing. But it was a shame that the OS said Keith Peacock was "previously known as" technical director rather than “football adviser formerly known as technical director". Though perhaps all the management team should now have symbols rather than names? Suggestions?
As usual the depth of knowledge and clarity of thought expressed on CL has made it far easier for grunts like me to assess significance of this latest management restructure. Up until now I have been quietly happy with what I have seen of the new Charlton owners but like others have been waiting for real evidence of intent. This latest development has convinced me even more that Slater and JIminez are in for the long term and not just in for a quick buck. Happy with the players we are being linked with but Hollands apart no significant signings have been made and just how many of those linked names are genuine ? Time will tell but my gut feeling about this development is positive.
This can only be positive for our future, good to see us building again and developing from ground level. I am impressed! What happened to Gritt though in all this?
Maybe not a majority Bob but some want all the signings done now and the team playing great football from the off. Even a few dodgy pre-season results will bring down their wrath on Powell.
And that's just the ones who haven't already decided Powell isn't up to the task or worse.
Guilty as charged Henry ;-) I still don't rate CP on what I've seen so far but succeed or fail the important thing is the structure within the club

Agree, he's not impressed me so far but it is early days. Let's see what he does with his own team.
Regardless of who the manager is the rest of the structure still needs to be right.
The conditions of being an first class academy are quite expensive. Valley Gold mag says at least 7 full time coaches and proper teaching facilities and teachers.

Any investment in infrastructure is never wasted money - if only recent Governments realised this.
It always pays dividends in the long run. Well done the Board.
Picture please Adam !
