  • Scouting Co-ordinator sounds like an admin job!

    Looks positive though.

  • Paul Hart worked wonders at Leeds Academy, Impressed
  • Seven regional scouts to be appointed to cover the country as well
  • Sounds like "significant investment' in the scouting set up and a high profile academy boss too.

All sounds good for the long term.

Impressed with Slater's quotes as well, I know nothing about scouting infrastructure but I'd imagine you wouldn't need many fingers to count clubs outside the top 2 divisions who have seven regional UK Scouts with remit including Ireland and a person in like Vetere who has overseas links left right and centre
  • is that the same paul hart of pompey, qpr ect...?
  • As I said elsewhere.  These could be the most important signings we'll make this close season.  Hart has a superb record in youth development at both Forest and Leeds.  Excellent news.
  • Great news for the long term.

Lets hope we get promoted soon or rather like Jenkinson, Jonjo & McGinty we will produce a load of fine youngsters for larger clubs to take of our hands early on!

  • This, to me, is the biggest statement of intent so far by the club.  Putting in place this sort of infra-structure (not cheap) underpins where the new owners want to take the club and can only be extremely positive.

  • I know he's been at the club before but Jeff looks nothing like I expected when I saw his pic on the OS.
  • it's the little thing's like this that spread the most positivity for me, it shows the new owners want to really build this club in all area's and lead us back to the premier league. just hope they keep a good amount of investment in the playing staff as well.
  • Good news.

Also mentions us keeping the academy status in the future.

"He will oversee the changes that need to be made next year to ensure we are able to retain our youth academy status within the new structures being introduced by the Premier League."

Well innovation and short-term outlay for future growth rather than asset-stripping is certainly the preferred way as to how to bridge the annual loss cafc is churning out.  A few more on the production line buys us more time as well as offering us the ability to internally recruit from the academy and save on transfer fees and associated expenses. You only need a couple of success stories per season, or even one to make it pay for itself.
  • cheers pouso!

well my first thoughts are paul hart cant be cheap to employ, and if im honest is one of the first signings weve made so far that ive heard of and know about (which is nice). all in all i feel quite happy about this 'shake up' (which again, is nice).

  • Agent Hart?

    ;)
  • Great News,
  • Agent Hart?

    ;)

dont start that old bollocks ;o)
  • spirit is bang on here, not only can we make the academy self-sufficient, if you can get it right it can pull in capital to cover a % of our operational losses as well

it is definitely the way to build from bottom up
  • If we have bought in Jeff V and Paul H we have money to be spent.

  • nice to see Paul Hart, lots of experience and will make a good interim when St Chris gets the sack
  • Very pleased, we have a manager with a good record with youth teams and teams in champ and leagueone working on our academy. Can only be a good thing.
  • I recall the academy cost close to 1m pa but that was before cuts.

We will always sell players to bigger, richer clubs. 99% of Clubs do but hopoefully we can move up the food chain and at least have a better ranked academy than other non-premier league clubs. Millwall for example do not have an academy.

But this all takes time. Which is good as it means the Mysterons are looking long term but will not satisfy those who want instant action and instant success.
  • All looks very promising ... these are not the actions of a board prepared to stay in Division 3 ... all sounds good so far.
  • nice to see Paul Hart, lots of experience and will make a good interim when St Chris gets the sack
LOL. Texted someone earlier this week when this leaked that that would be the reactio.

I prefer to see it as another wise been there, done it old head for Powell to bounce ideas off and whose contacts can be used.
  • We all knew about Vetere but the Hart appointment has left me genuinely surprised, in a positive way.
  • This is a significant development and augurs very well for the long term future of our club - especially regarding the academy and upgrading of our scouting network.

    Well done the board.

  • nice to see Paul Hart, lots of experience and will make a good interim when St Chris gets the sack

excuse my mild cynicism, i just cannot believe that the lovely Mr Powell will be a success as a manager, although, with all the experience around him, Hart, Peacock, Vetere, Dyer, I HOPE that I am 100% wrong
  • Is Jeff Vetere actually Prince?
  • Excellent news. Things seem much brighter this week in the CAFC world. I'm getting my rose tinted glasses out again.

Note for Oohaah - I'm back in with the freaks :-)
