Reasons to be cheerful: We do have some good players to build upon, We have financial stability which may help us bring in the players we need in the summer and Chrissy seems to be working towards a more offensive style.
Reasons to be less cheerful: We haven't signed all of our better players for next season, we don't know who we will be bringing in in the summer and Chrissy is unproven.
I suppose it depends on whether you are a cup half full or half empty person. Feels like it can go either way to me although the half full part of me is slightly ahead at the moment. That will change if I dodn't see the activity I'm expecting in the summer.
I'm optimistic that we will have a team next season that will be challenging for the top six and be seen as a potential 1 or 2, playing reasonable football.

Cmon after this season its been so crap, the board screwed it up, its almost criminal we are not at least competing for a play off place with so much of the season to go, we need to be optimistic now, imagine going through the summer totally depressed and in the doldrums. Lets wait till August before next seasons reality hits us.
The future is certainly not bright. We are in our lowest position in the football pyramid, and playing the worst football in the living memory of even the oldest of our supporters. We are losing game after game to teams that on paper at least have weaker squads and inferior players to our own team. The manager and assistant manager seem incapable of sorting out the problems and appear to be out of their depth. Yet we are pinning our hopes on this same managerial team turning things around in the summer, and turning a squad of under performers, into a team that will gain promotion next season.
Well I hope that you are right and I am wrong but I wouldn't hold my breath!
Whilst I am trying to stay positive with regards to Charlton, to say the future looks Bright is quite frankly laughable. People don't wanna hear that sort of Sh*t anymore. I'll believe the future is Bright when we have signed about ten new Decent players had a massive clearout of the Failing Flops of the last few seasons & have won our first six games next season.

Agreed. As they say, the proof is in the pudding. I remember in the close signing Sheff W making a couple of signings people thought were impressive, and expected them to have a strong season. Look how that panned out.
Words mean nothing, signings mean nothing. Its how it all comes together and the results that are attained what count.
exactly , be as posititve or negative as you want but the facts of the matter are since the great man left the building we have been one disaster after another and without doubt the biggest laughing stock in football
i wont be happpy till we're promoted and even if we win our first 6 next season we can still fook it up like we did last season
We'll begin the pre-season games still waiting for several signings. We'll have the usual panic that we didn't beat Welling and another non-league team comfortably (despite playing several trialists, a couple of players we're looking to sell and youngsters). One or two signings will be written off as no better than what we have after 45 minutes v Welling. Someone will blame Powell for no one buying McCormack off us, despite the window being open another 2 months.
6 wins would be amazing, I cant see that happening for a minute... I have very little hope for next season regardless of how much we spend... I have hardly any confidence in Powell.. I had a lot more confidence in Parky, at least he could get us results, i dont and wont drag the old debate up...
I know its a small thing, but I didnt like alex dyers body language towards powell after the win against orient either, he seemed to pat powell on the head three times... seemed patronising... cnat put my finger on it, but just didnt like it...
I certainly hope powell can put something together of course, but at the moment I am not very confident at all..
The last 6 games of this season are very important to CP, lose the majority of them then I actually don't see any reason why he should be here to spend the money.
At season end he will have had 23 games in charge, half a season in fact.

New owners backed Parky, bad home result and they flexed their muscles. New owners backed Powell, it's much worse than under Parky. Wouldn't be surprised to see him gone in the summer.
Yes no point dragging the Parky debate on this thread as we are looking forwards not backwards. If the club does what Slater has been suggesting it could be good and I still believe Powell can come good for us but the negative scenario is a real possibility and we can't dismiss it at this point anyway. That is, we lose our better players who are out of contract and we have trouble replacing and strengthening with the necessary quality due to whatever reason - be it lack of investment or lack of availability. Remember - we will be competing against Championship clubs for the quality we need - not D*R or Yeovil.
The scenario last season was as has been mentioned - us going into pre season without a full team. If that happens this season, we won't have a lot going for us - untried manager - no squad - what quality we had gone - it could be worse than this. Not saying it will be but it could be. Hopefully this won't happen but I'm not going to bet my house on it not!

I'll take your word for it!
At what point does the glass crack , and need replacing?
But we have been told results don't matter (or else he would not be here now) so we are looking forward and being optimistic, is that so wrong?
