I agree with Clem, called it spot on. I also think Stewart was very tidy. Most of the other lifers I spoke to at half time, were of the same opinion. Also wasn't sure about Powelly at the end of the match personally after the run we had been on, would have liked him to shake Slade's hand clap the fans and go off down the tunnell. However he waited until all the players went off, then went and sat in the dugout and then walks off on his own to take the northstand applause.
IMO Chris you can do that if we are on a 12 game winning streak, after the the run we have had, take the win the 3 points and go and tell the players how their second half performance won us the points. Too much all about him imo opinion and wanting to be the messiah, I would rather a bit more low profile after the last month and a half. We beat Orient we are safe, but let's realise this season has been the biggest let down on record.
Thought the second half showed just what could have been had the management team and squad got their collective act together for the last few months.
Just about any team in this league is there to be beaten if you put them under pressure and have a striker like Wright-Phillips who can put away a chance.
Really pleased for Semedo, and to see that it obviously meant so much to him.
And also thought that Stewart looked very useful in those few minutes.
Thought we deserved it in the end but the game changed in those 3 minutes when their goal was ruled out for what looked like nothing and BWP goal which came from nothing.
Really liked the look of Stewart and glimpses from Parrett.
Still worrying lapses at the back which need sorting for next season, hopefully by clearing out Llera.
Enjoyable afternoon for the first time in ages, well done Chris Powell and the team.

Funny how we all read things differently. To me, through the binoculars that I was looking through, CP sat down in the dug-out totally emotionally drained. And only finally moved, once he had recovered the strength. NSS, I think yours in an ungenerous supposition as to his motives.
well chuffed - second half very good - amazing what a difference a couple of cemtral midfield players can make. i know Stewart was swopped for Parret but would like to see them teamed up soon - really pleased for Semedo - top man, great determination but he aint the future.
1st half was shocking , no rhythm , nothing of note happening , 2nd half completely different story, (why can't they start like that?)it was like that the players had a rousing teamtalk at half time and went out to show us the fans what they can do, i don't know about people saying Chris Powell looked drained, i was drained! delighted with a win , almost forgot what it felt like , would be nice to play the rest of the season how we did in the 2nd half today.
Great performance from Racon again, and Solly is progressing nicely. We appeared to open up 4-3-3 second half with Parrett pushing on. Once we had the lead he dropped deeper. Not sure if this was a tactic, or my impression. At times 2nd half we were murdering them. COYR............
Delighted for Semedo. The debate as to just how vital and effective he is to the team will rage on but his commitment cannot be called into question. He'd have to be Sir Lawrence Olivier to fake that reaction to scoring his goal!
As for the game I thought we started brightly enough but gradually lost confidence and let them into it. At times in the first half players, with the honourable exception of Waggy who is excellent at it, were not moving enough off the ball to make themselves available so Parrett and Racon amongst others found themselves running into blind alleys much of the time with little or no support. The Orient goal also seemed to have more than a hint of offside about it. I did wonder whether the fef disallowed their second half effort to even it up as he realised he'd cocked up first half.
Second half we came out smokin' (minus Joe) and really took it to them. A little bit of magic from Racon to wrongfoot the defenders, the cross, the volley from BWP saved but not held and a clinical predatory Benson finished it. We then battered them for 20 minutes or more before they scored a disallowed goal on a rare foray into our half. Our first bit of good luck for a good while. Our second was Jones' throw straight to BWP who finished the resulting one on one clinically through the keeper's legs.
Finally we had that back post header from the Millwall hater which is where I came in........
Great win, credit where its due to Powell and the players.
Absolutely crucial for Powell to finish the season strongly to increase his credibility as a manager and to make us more attractive to new players in the summer.
We have weaknesses but also a lot of players who are very, very good players at this level and the recent run has not been anywhere near good enough.
Big test on Tuesday at Saints but we need to get something from it, if we get done 3-0 there then we lose all of the momentum from todays game.
So pleased for Powell. He deserved that after some of the things the Parkinsonian rearguard have said about him in recent weeks, and it must have pleased him to stick one in the eye of those saying we wouldn't win again all season and would get sucked into a relegation struggle.
Surprised by how decent Benson was. We look so much better with him alongaside BWP than Joe Isn't-Any-Ansah.
Stil think Benno will be moved on in the summer, along with the likes of Francis, McOxo, Reid, Doherty and Cotton-wool Joe - but it's clear the kind of forward we need to find to play alongside the division's second leading goalscorer.
We're now safe from a relegation struggle and so Powell can start working on the elements of the squad that might be able to do a job for him next season and forget about those named above who won't be here.
It's funny how after going to football for so many years you can still see things that you've never seen before. I've seen howlers before, but never quite like that one...but I have never seen a Charlton player weep with the thrill of scoring a goal for us. We all (or 99.9% of us) like Jose, but that minute today after he scored has elevated him into a never to be forgotten, eternally loved legend in SE7. No way was that faked.

give it a rest Nigel we have been shite and Powell has been a part of it, I don't think any of the criticism has been unjustified, you have to take the rough with the smooth.
But it was a win - and we had only managed that on 13 previous occasions all season, under three different managers !
What's more we deserved it.
There is a future beginning to take shape - and it's going to be an exciting one. You get the feeling Powell now knows who can do a job for him next season and who can't. This time next year, we will be sitting in the top two and preparing for the championship. You'll see !
Thoroughly enjoyable game. I agree with SHG about the contribution Dailly made, that's something we haven't see for a while and he really made a difference. Man of the match for me though was Racon, he was awesome.
NSS don't believe cp was trying to milk anything as he quite often at the end of the game stays around the dug out area. One game he sat on the advert boards and just surveyed the valley. Whereas pardews thing was getting off the pitch quickly cp's is to just diamond in the arena
first half was poor from both teams. I didnt think either deserved to be in front. Not sure what was changed in second half ---but something did. For 25 mins we actually went for the throat. It would have been total injustice if that goal from Orient had stood. Although their keeper made a huge blooper he also made two great saves prior to that.
15,800 crowd ---- thats still good considering how poor we are.
Racon out wide ---- still not sure, but he had a good game and was invovled in alot, which is a huge change on most of his time with us.
Marginally fewer comps than usual yesterday. About 1450 Orient. Good turnout by their standards.
We have a lot of STs not coming. There were very few comps for Southampton and a massive number of paid tickets not used, some of which will have been Dec 26 match tickets that were never refunded.

BWP looked very dangerous second half. Very impressed with Parrett - would love to see him here next year. Stewart provided an assured cameo.

Looks a bit hot and sweaty! Are you going wear it from now on?

Nahhh, just a one-off with the odd away game

And how few people were in the ground, we must be giving away a hell of a lot of comp's these days.
