looks like CP has asked them to stop humping it forward and build from the back rather than chasing down the second ball. Problem is, we haven't got the players to do it, hence all the defensive errors lately. Give Parky credit for one thing - he knew he'd assembled a shit team and didn''t ask them to try and play football coz he knew they couldn't.

That made me laugh out loud in a gallows humour kind-of-way, because I suspect there may be a grain of truth in it !
I think there were four significant problems with the way we played in the first half.
1. Lack of movement as others have noted.
2. Players were receiving the ball with their backs to goal. Often they had time to turn but they seemed to be unaware that they did and just passed it backwards again.
3. When facing a team like Walsall, who have parked the bus, you need someone who can get past his man. With the occasional exception of Racon we had nobody who was even willing to try.
4. We ended up so far forward that a misplaced pass at the back could easily lead to a break with no defensive cover. This happened a couple of times. Dailly was well into their half on several occasions maling us very vulnerable.
problem as well is that Dailly and jenkinson are probably two of our most creative players and they're defenders - i think both try and drive on more than would be normal for a full back and centre half because the midfield is so inept at anything approaching decent football. I know it's early days but i'm so impressed with Jenkinson i'd almost be tempted to try him in the middle - he looks a class apart to me and actually wants the ball! Reminds mea bit of Gareth Bale but i'm sure he'd do a good job in the middle if we balls it up in the loan market.
I think we create more when opponents tire and this is down to lacking players who can take a player on with a bit of trickery. Wagstaff is very effective as the game progressess when his driving direct style can get him past a slower more tired opponent but he cant run through fresh legs so convincingly. Anyinsah is missed as he does give our attack some of that and Racon can beat players. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see us trying to take on defenders the whole time but it has to be in the teams locker to make defending against us harder.
I think we can change the team by bringing in 2 of the right type - sooner arther than later.
And yes I do also agree with the point about us doing better against teams that set out to impose themselves on us rather than stop us. Our record which stands up against anybody's against the top half teams testifies to that. I'd like to see us play 3 at the back at home against teams like Tranmere - With Llera who is left footed and Francis' height we have the right personnel - we also have Semedo - a defensive midfielder who can help when needed. When teams like Tranmere attack- it is generally on the break and through set pieces - you don't need a back four and the extra player can make the difference at the other end of the pitch.

Sums up our season at home - if we can keep a clean sheet and nick a goal when the opposition are tiring we can scrape a win - and lets face it most of our wins at home this season have been like this
Cheers Clem, my brother likes a bet and we were discussing just this at the game as it was clear to us that it was BWP's goal, but they stuck with giving it too Llera. I'm sure bookies have a get out clause that means they only pay out once! Lucky for you though, well done.

Anyone know how I can return my winnings to Ladbrookes?. Feeling guily.
;-)
What happens in this situation, would bookies have to pay out on BWP too??
No idea. But I knew this would happen and it was the very reason I went and queued up after the game!
