My reading of Waggot's statement was that the club could not afford to sack the manager unless we sold enough season tickets, so if the fans wanted a new manager they had to go out and buy one.
Do you really think a club official would say that in public and in full seriousness ?
Anyone remember what his words were again ? I remember thinking at the time that only via a very loose interpretation of his comments could you infer that he meant “if you buy more season tickets I’ll sack the manager”.

I was there, but I don't remember the exact wording, but I do remember that being the inference.
Michael Slater was going to get Parky to deliver mine, which I was happy with, it would have arrived eventually. Then he changed his mind the next day.
Now he has got someone else to deliver it and I dont think it will turn up.

From the minutes (approved by the Club) of the Fans' Forum meeting held on 14th May 2009:
6. Manager Position
Steve Waggott reiterated that Phil Parkinson’s contract runs until June 2010 and, until he is told otherwise, he is continuing to fulfil that role by going to matches, scouting players, scouring leagues and planning for next season. It was understood that some fans wanted to know whether he will stay or go before they renew their season tickets, and it was suggested that, if some fans wanted him to go, by renewing it would give the club money to possibly change things, but either way it was unknown at this point as to his position going forward. There was a discussion regarding whether any decisions could be reliant on a takeover or investment, but as further information regarding this isn’t available at present, it was difficult to discuss in detail. It was agreed that, at some point in the not too distant future, an announcement would have to be made either way, but it was unclear when this would be.
The main dilemma for me is the lack of use of my second ticket because my daughter is at university. My nephew (who is in the same age category) comes sometimes but his enthususiasm is dwindling.
At the moment there is a reasonable mix around me but in recent weeks some of the obnoxious lot have filtered into my block. (sample example on Saturday to the ref at the end of the game. "I hope you have a car crash on the way home and f****** die you c***") I fear there could be more of that and worse next season if the longstanding regulars don't renew which is another point for serious consideration. I'm reconciled to some extent to cr** on the pitch. 48 years of supporting Charlton has produced mainly that but I don't need it close to me off the pitch in my leisure hours at my time of life.
Len...East Stand Block C...it's ok in there...just people who want to watch the game. You don't get any of that nonsense (now tell me that you already sit in Block C!!!!)

I'm not sure the North (or any of the ground for that matter) will be noisy next season.
