Utterly furious. Dennis Wise delivered mine, even though the sorting office had assured me that there was absolutely no possibility of him being involved in the delivery of my mail.
haha after my last post and all the abuse when I got home from work today there it is sitting on my doormat, and to be fair it looks alot better than last years effort this time the fold/crease Is straight and the print quality is alot better!! buggers!
mine arrived this morning, why is it just as the club send these out, do the players decide to serve up 3 weeks of absolute shite - hardly convincing the undecided eh!
Alan Pardew was supposed to be delivering mine, but then he spent £12million on the wrong delivery method and it ended up playing up front. Wait, what the..
My postman's name is Sheldrake. He did deliver it but then decided that as he'd rung the bell first, he shouldn't have done and he asked for it back. Then he consulted with an onlooker and said he could deliver it afterall. But his manager, someone with the job title of "The Fourth Official", had the final say and it was concluded that the delivery shouldn't stand.
But yes, seriously, our packs arrived in deepest Essex on Saturday morning.
It doesn't really make much difference to me as I don't intend to renew until June/July when they offer the current season ticket seats to new buyers on swap week.
It does worry me that these new 'backers' are looking to cash our money four months before the new season starts like we saw last year.
On reflection they should have got these packs out a month ago. As it stands the threat of prices, potentially, going up if we are promoted looks laughable.

Unfair.
It's not about "banking the money early" but retaining the strong (for this division) ST base. of course getting the money early is better than waiting as the Club have a better idea of its budget for next season.
Of course the packs would have had more impact when we were winning but these things do take time to be agreed, designed, write, get signed off and then produced and posted.
Airman Brown could not foresee a four match losing streak when putting the schedule in place.

I agree with the timing of the results, and I was merely pointing out how unfortunate it was, not that it was a bad decision.
However, I don't buy the 'retaining' the ST base as I don't believe it will make much difference, and will be significantly boosted if we do win promotion. As for the budgeting, I understand why the club would use that line. It suggests that if there are enough renewals we will be able to make changes to the squad. In fact one year Waggot 'promised' that if we sold enough STs the club would sack and replace Parkinson - and that wasn't his worse public statement to boost sales, in my view.
There will be little to be learned from the number of sales in April to confirm budgets. It is, or I think it is, obvious that the marginal sales will happen late. Those that renew in April are probably those that you can count on to renew unless they have died in the last twelve months. I suspect that there will be minimal deviation from the number of sales this April to last March. This will enable the club to make little (or no) observations about budgeting for next season. I expect there to be a much bigger difference between total sales in August than in April and for this reason there will, in my view, be little to learn from sales numbers until then.
On top of that is the promised suggestion that the club are going to give the manager all the support he needs to get us out of this division. If that is true (and I'm not doubting it) then it matters little what the sales to budget ratio is. If we need to spend £4m, say, to win promotion next season that that is what needs t be spent, the budget will have to be driven by the need for resources. It is not as though this club can break even in this division, so it doesn't matter how many tickets we sell. The board either invest enough to get us promoted or the club eventually go into administration and they lose all their investment, or they keep funding the losses year after year.
All of this means, in my view, that there is no reasonable business case to be made for selling season tickets early, save for cash flow.
We have released two strikers (removed their wages) who I believe would have been able to offer something in the last two/three games, neither of them have been replaced. There does seem to be a fair amount of evidence that cash flow is tight.
I'm sorry Henry, but I don't think my comments were unfair.
The case is that you secure your season-ticket base as soon as you can and it makes sense to do the marketing while they are coming to The Valley every week (or perhaps not, in the current scenario, but I can't plan for that) rather than at the end of the season when people may well be disappointed, as last year afer losing in the play-off semi-final, and are not exposed to the messages as often or as cost-effectively.
It also helps with cash flow and aids financial planning. Already we have the doom-mongers on here who think we will lose thousands of season-ticket holders this year; we have always out-performed those predictions in previous years, but from a business perspective why not give yourself the security of knowing what you can?
There is nothing exceptional about this season's timetable and the new owners have simply taken the advice of the existing management based on what worked last year, when we sold about three-quarters of all season tickets by the end of March/beginning of April. I'd agree that if we continue to perform as at present there may be more people holding off to see what happens over the summer; if we get the same number by April 4th we will be in a strong position.
There is no commitmemt not to raise prices after April 4th in this division; in fact it's not been decided either way.

You mean they haven't been replaced yet. In both cases it was an opportunity to get a player who wasn't up to the required standard off the books, and in Abbott's case it was very much driven by him.
My one turned up yesterday. My postie is Spanish, I haven't seen him for a while but he hit the target yesterday, straight through the letterbox, although it did deflect off the cat on the way to the mat. Our previous postie was some ginger haired bloke who was a bit slow round the estate, think he fell off his bike and hurt himself.

I wasn't suggesting that the packs should have gone out a month ago, merely that if they had they would have been greeted with more enthusiasm. The results and the arrival of the packs is just unlucky.
My reading of Waggot's statement was that the club could not afford to sack the manager unless we sold enough season tickets, so if the fans wanted a new manager they had to go out and buy one. It was said in the Fans Forum meeting, and it was not reported as a joke at the time. If I've missunderstood that then I apologise. However there was no misunderstanding of his comment about the club expecting to finish half way in the Championship when they had sold STs with the free ticket if we make the Premier League months before.
I don't have a problem with PR, all companies do it, and I hardly expect those selling tickets (in any industry) to do anything less than 'sell' the positives. I just don't think it's realistic for the punters not to notice that it goes on.
[cite]Posted By: Vinnie V.[/cite]Mine arrived sat morning. Anyone noticed that the interest free option only works out £2.30 cheaper than the 8 month option for north upper?
Yes, "interest free" is an ambiguous (to put it politely) use of the phrase by Zebra isn't it? The £16 admin fee could be good value if buying, say, two adult season tickets and a West Stand car park season ticket. (I wonder if Zebra would accept that combination?) But if, you were only buying one Over 60s North Stand ticket @ £165, I reckon the "interest free" offer could cost the equivalent of around 60% APR (gasp). And it would in fact cost a pensioner £3.40 more than the 8-month interest paid deal!! I think the club should point out these anomalies to supporters. Particularly as these aspects are likely to affect the less well off supporter.
Sorry, I think I miscalculated the APR above - it's not 60% but in the region of 45% - still high though. That led me to thinking about the under 18s tickets. If you bought just one of those on the "interest free" scheme the equivalent APR would be in the region of 100%.
BTW does anyone know if the Zebra form was excluded from season ticket packs for under 18s? I mention this because, as I understand it, If you are under 18, it is a criminal offence for anyone to send you material inviting you to borrow money or obtain goods or services on credit or hire purchase. (Presumably why you can't have a credit card until you're 18.)

U18 go back to £10 but not U11, which will remain £5, assuming we are in this division. However, U18 season tickets remain £75; U11 £49.
AB has explained the rest so yes unfair.
