I think there are a number of questions unanswered
should more money have been put in to give Powell a serious chance of solving the problems, does this board want a lot for return for too little investment?
did he correctly identify those problems? (no CM or CB brought in, we already had a goal scorer)
not sure why you would boot out a centre forward after the window had closed either considering how injury prone the alternative is and how many games we have to play at the moment.
was it right to step up training at this stage of the season, and particularly with this fixture bunching - we look last to the
ball on so many ocassions
was Powell the right man for the job experience wise, or was it too much about his connection with the club? There do seem to be some tactical problems appearing - our team changes on a daily basis and formation seems all over the place and confused
It's all quite puzzling considering the run that he started on should now come to this. I guess one answer is he is learning the team, but he really needs to get that done quickly now
[cite]Posted By: Red5[/cite]Anyone else not going Saturday?
Can't believe how dissinterested I have become in going suddenly, especially as Mr Slater writes off this season as not imperrative to get promoted. Really? Can I please have my season ticket money refunded then! What sort of message does that send out to our squad of players, let alone our promotion rivals!!
I go to most games now expecting to lose so I'm not too dissappointed when we do (as was the case last night). Even when we do win I don't even feel that elated anymore because I cannot remember the last time it was totally convincing, or worthy, or great to watch over 90 minutes.
And I, what a fool, brought a 5-year season ticket! So, so deflated at the moment. I want to have a nice time with my family this weekend and that is why I will not be going on Saturday. I hope I miss a 5-0 win but I doubt that very much.
I'm certainly thinking about not going at the moment especially with the way diesel is going up. It's a 70 mile round trip for me.
Thing is if I don't go I'll be on Charlton Life or teletext wanting to know what is going on so the chances are, come the glorious day, I'll be there.
I am giving serious thought to season ticket (s) renewal though. I felt thoroughly depressed driving home last night and when I got in my wife said you look like you've had a really bad day at work not been doing something you're meant to enjoy!
Like many, saddened and deflated rather than angry. The whole evening was such a non-event with an understandably muted crowd watching an utterly disjointed performance lacking skill, nous, bottle and leadership. The problems evidently run deep, and the management must be well aware of the numerous weaknesses, but we won't make progress while that cm pairing remains. As others have observed, we are regularly out-passed at home by teams of very limited means who simply see our weakness, grow in confidence, and pass the ball around us until a chance (or 3) comes along. Not many around for nothing but the need for a wise head to hold onto the ball, lead the team, and pass creatively is paramount.
I hope "the management " are aware my worry is against P/Boro and Exeter and Nots County was CP looked like a "rabbit caught in the head lights" he just looked like he was lost to me. Sometimes good players seem to think that every player can play at their level-----------they just cant.CP needs to understand very quickly that his WHOLE squad my not be anywhere near good enough to play the way he wants them to play.
My hope is that someone takes him aside and tells him we need to go to the basics in this league this year and move on with a better quality squad next season.
Reserve game against Gillingham Tuna and Harriott were withdrawn,Tuna at half time,Harriott just after. It may be nothing but perhaps CP is thinking put em both on the bench this time considering that a center back will have to start to replace the old cart horse Docherty and numbers are short.

I thought Tuna was knocking around in the Ryman ? Aveley.

Says quite a lot really!
Carlisle hunted and broke in packs. Some players are not good or composed enough to play passing football.
Is the old classic that we are simply not playing as a team. Confidence is low and players are getting frustrated.
Not keen on the formation or the personnel-too lightweight.
Surgery is required at the back, in midfield and possibly in goal.
Would give Benson, Solly & Llera a chance. Plus any new loan players.
And then there's the defence!..
