don't care if it was deflected or not. Good run, direct, pacey and not afraid to have a stike of the ball. Liked what I saw today but too early to judge completely.
Mustn't forget that Abbott drew 2 defenders away with his run, made a third indecisive, and created the space for Ecclestone to squirm through and score. If Anyinsah had been on the pitch instead of Abbott I think Ecclestone would have had a much more difficult task as there would have been another 2 defenders to go through because Anyinsah doesn't make the space for others that Abbott does. I think Abbott is probably the best partner for Ecclestone.
Viewed from the covered end there did not seem to be a deflection, nor any possibility of one.
Just seen it on television - there was a slight deflection.
It definitely took a slight deflection, but the key was that he wanted to run at the defenders and was composed and confident enough to take a shot when it opened up for him.
I thought he was up for it when he came on. Took the goal superbly well. We were in the East and looking along the line of his shot and it looked in the moment he hit it.
Whether or not it took a deflection (it did) it was his hard work and drive that created the chance. We all get a bit of luck every now and then but you have to work to create the opportuntiy in the first place. As Del Boy would say, "he who dares wins"
If there had been no shot, it would not have deflected. However it happened a striker hit a ball and it ended up in the net. That has to be a good thing!
Some people just love to pick fault in everything, so what if it took a deflection, end of the day he created the chance and it ended up where he wanted it to, the back of the net.
Who cares how it got there, i dont, A goal is a goal at the end of the day.
what really counts is we imposed ourselves on the game and at last we have a player who is positive and free running and confident lets make some more signings chrissy boy, you have just over a week to compliment what you/we have, as far as i can see eccs has won a place
I wonder if the loaning club (ie Liverpool) are able to state how much playing time the player must get as part of the loan. I'd be pretty pee'd off if I was Liverpool (and Ecclestone) and he only ever got camio's from the bench. I remember when Fraser Campbell went on season long loan at Spurs and hardly kicked a ball. What a waste that was! I realise you can't guarentee a player a place in the starting line each week in case he's gash.

I think if you are loaning him to a club in a higher division then you would be sending your player there to learn and be amongst a baetter standard of player in training and wouldn't necessarily demand he plays a certain amount of games. However i think if you are loaning to a club in a lower division you would be doing to get him match time and would ask for a certain amount of time at least, there would be no point going otherwise.
Really like the look of him, very quick and chases anything. Didn't look happy when the ref blew for full time as he was clean through. Can't be long before Powell starts him in my opinion.

Agreed, I see him and BWP as first choice. He's taller than I thought as well.
Looked lively again and can't believe the ref blew up when he was the only player in the Col U half apart from their keeper. Though I assume that is the least of his worries!

Why are you trying to antagonise people?
Ecclestone and Bauza I've seen so far - anyone else not up to your magnificent standards?
I think he will score a lot more goals for us than he did for Huddersfield as he is a year older and stronger.
A goal on your home debut is great. It will help his confidence and give us extra options up front.
Great comments from Chris Powell on Ecclestones performance.
Nathan Ecclestone is very welcome at the club.

Kevin Lisbie used to be good at doing that .......!
;o)
in a no n gay way
Its early days but very promising.
Deflections are all part and parcel of the game - a surprisingly large number of goals scored are as a result of deflections.
Lucky or unlucky depending on whether you score from them or concede.
But invariably evens itself up over the course of a season.

I guess Wagstaff's goal vs Sheffield Wednesday last week doesn't count either...

But please can we get his name right?? It is Eccleston - without a final "e"!
:- )
Consider it done. Love and peace, Ston.
I will do my best

I am not sure that I can make the same promise, 1905e
Oh you added an e, I'm telling.
Perfect player to bring on in a game like tonight, forced their defence into a couple of errors and a constant threat.
