looks very sharp, the way he chased the fella back and then got straight on the through ball to score was bloody impressive, drove straight at both the defenders and forced his way through.
Great finish and ran himself silly chasing and tracking back, you could see he really wanted it. He looks like he can also hold the ball up as well as play the speedster role. A couple of times he showed good chest control back to goal and laid the ball off. I think he'd work perfectly with Anyinsah, Benson, or even Abbott - very versatile.

I agree, no wonder he was getting the ball a bit lost under his feet by the time he'd got to their penalty area, he'd just done the best part of 100 yards in about 15 seconds, half of it with the ball!
i agree he is lightning quick and reads the game, but we have to get the ball to him in dangerous areas, who is going to slot him in ? i would like to think that we could get another andy reid, anyone know who would fit the bill ?
I agree raymondao, I would like to see us get a CM that can pick a pass and carry the ball in (after defensive acquisitions)... I picked out 3 from "lesser" clubs in L1 and L2 a few weeks ago - Ryan Harley (now signed for Swansea), Danny Green (sent off today!) and Nicky Law to have a look at - all are high up in the assists standings at their clubs and have notched a few goals as well
Too early to say if Eccleston going to be brilliant for me (or the other way like forza...). New signings can easily impress when they're a different type of player to what you already have. Remember all the excitement over Lee Martin, he seemed to have Wagstaff's energy and work rate, but with Sam's dribbling and a few more tricks. Half a season later and we saw that wasn't wrong but at the same time the reason why he was available to a League One club.
Difference with Eccleston is he's not here because he failed elsewhere, he just isn't old enough to have a chance to prove himself at a higher level. Championship sides were meant to be interested which is a good sign. Looking forward to seeing more of him.
Lee Martin extra. A much better all round player I think. Bit faster, better finisher & bit stronger, maybe not so good with the pass, but he's a nifty centre-forward, I think he'll fit in perfectly.

After the Sheffield game, I commented on his composure and skills, and added that I thought he had a football brain. He stands out for me even at this stage, there's a lot of talent there, hopefully he will stay grounded and develop into something special for us. Good work Jonjo!
To be fair that was the best play all day, he lost the ball (fair enough) tracked back like wayne rooney, got the ball back (with some help) got up the other end of the pitch to score, that is what I want from a Charlton player, class above
[cite]Posted By: coltsgoalie[/cite]shot deflected though
Didnt look like it on Sky just now. Got some luck in the lead up though with a bit of pinball.
Didn't look like it in Covered End Upper either.
He nearly lost the ball just before he shot but from what I saw the shot itsel was clean and well placed to the keeper's right and nobody got a boot or hand on it.
He miscontrolled it and the ball hit the centre back, but he recovered the ball quickly as it came back to him. Great pace though, frightened the two defenders who were trying to deal with him before a coolly placed shot. Hard to say at this point but he looks very promising.

Significant signing imo as Champs teams were supposed to be after him as well.
I know this is controversial on the other thread but I think Bostock could be that player.
Our team is better than most in this Division our squad needs some more depth . Ecclestone showed what a little quality will get us.
