[cite]Posted By: Curb_It[/cite]sadly but hopefully briefly, the valley's jealously guarded reputation for fairness and restraint, both casualties of a major lapse in taste by a minority of empty vessels who speak for nobody but themselves.
Who or what does he mean by this one?
From my reading of it Kevin Nolan can f### off, the cherry on the top would be sneering patronising journos taking the p
i left early i have to say,but still miffed why everyones so excited about what this old dude done,it was hardly the bloke with the boro season ticket, all very charlton
So it would seem that the views of supporters who no longer go to games, those that leave before the end and those that leave heads down at the very end don't count. Seems like I need to review my no-booing policy.
Have a feeling Kevin may have ment me as one of the empty vessels, due to talking to him after the game and saying at least the old guy was prepaired to voice his anger, but dont condone the way he done it.
What I would imagine the Club will do like they do with most season ticket holders who have their S/T confiscated for whatever reason, is invite them in for an interview a week or so later to discuss the circumstances with more reasoned & clearer heads. A decision is then made on if the season ticket is returned at all to the person in question.
What's this about it being time for supporters to stop "meekly taking this crap" and "being apathetic"?
It seems to be the same people who say it's not the supporters' fault for our demise, that seem to assume that supporters acting up will help anything. Does anyone actually believe that Parky hasn't been trying this season and will suddenly start trying now he's been confronted? Being yelled out won't increase his managerial nous or his ability to emply a formation that doesn't break down.
He's limited and often tactically inept, but passion is the last thing he lacks. He's been sent into the stands enough times to see that.
I think the old guy should be excused as an understandable boiling over of anger, but he's not a hero either. Lots of supporters would love to get a chance to rant and rave, but it achieves little apart from making them feel better. I can't see how it actually helps the club.

Weegie i think honestly that people have had enough i aint going anymore until he is gone because believe it or not i actually go to support charlton vary rarely during a game would you hear me not be supportive. but those going week in week out are fed up to their back teeth of the shite served up
it doesnt make it right what they are doing but parky has to shoulder that blame
as for the old boy
i think it is brilliant that he done it, if it was some young fella he would have been labelled and lambasted for being the sort of person we dont want at the cub
the fact he is a senior citizan maybe muzza and co will sit up and take note

applaud your stance but if you are a season ticket holder you won't be missed because they have your money and you will be counted as attending anyway. What will make a difference is if match by match buyers stay away as the Club will miss this income. If you have coem to a game recently against MKD or Brighton there has been NOTHING to encourage you to return. If these fans stay away then that will hurt the Club.
From your personal pespective it will save you a lot of angst and you will have an enjoyable weekend for once. For me it is becoming a chore going at the moment but the breakfast in the cafe beforehand is the only thing making it worthwhile.
[cite]Posted By: Weegie Addick[/cite]I was as furious with our fans as I was with the team on Sat - proabbly even more so. The team c*cked up, but the fans turning so vitriolic when only 2-0 down was disgusting. People were even having a real go at Reid when he over-hit his crosses in the first half - when it was still 0-0! Yes it's frustrating, but turning on each other and on the players and on the manager at the slightest opportuntiy is just going to make the situation worse and worse. I travel 500 miles and spend well over £100 to come to home games - at the moment I have no inclination to do so again for a very long time. Not because of Parky, not because of the players, but because of the poisonous atmosphere we seem to delight in creating. I'll be at Carlisle, though...
For the record, I have little sympathy for the "geriatric" either. My Dad never behaved like that, and he saw us in every bit as bad a way over many years.
I have to say that I agree with every single word of that Weegie. My matchday experience is constantly ruined by 2 or 3 "older" supporters who spend the entire game slagging off Parky, the players and anyone else connected to Charlton that they can think of, at the top of their very loud voices. One of them even stormed out when Benson got the late winner against Notts County, swearing at Benson for having the temerity to ruin his game long rant about how crap he was. How I wish these 3 individuals would do something to get banned from the ground! I hate the current poisonous atmosphere at the Valley and too many people seem to revel in the team's shortcomings. We are a mid-table team and we lost to the team who are probably going to run away with the league this year. I didn't expect anything else. Some people's expectations are far too high for a team losing money hand over fist and no new investment on the horizon. That is a big problem IMHO.
You should sit in the West Lower when the Charlton academy players sit there, they are a fecking disgrace to the club - rude, obnoxious & all of them need a good hiding - sorry to take this off topic.
People expectations have been way too high, and have been for some time now, overlooking the declining skill levels of the squad, every season, and as Red Pete said, a "club that is losing money hand over fist and no new investment on the horizon. That is a big problem."
Indeed it is, and well said..
As for the "geriatric" fan... At 60 he should know it's just not the right way to conduct oneself... I have no sympathy for him. The club can deal with him as they see fit...

Didnt renew your season ticket at the MCC this year then?
Comments
me too. We let the players and Parky off too lightly in my opinion.
Is that the same Peter Varney who was there when Brian Cole was sacked for a couple of harmless jokes????
The club is a joke sometimes but only because it thinks it has to operate in the ridiculous world we now live in.

You must be joking. That idiot left them no option but to sack him.
lol I have to find that thread about 'stop doing the bouncy', coming from someone I've seen several times try to start that chant by himself!!
Next time i see him will have to ask.
Do you think you urned it?

This seems reasonable.
That's a top quality post. First time I've laughed at anything on here for a good while now - cheers !

Methinks you've got too much time on your hands and you're just trying to play devils advocate by digging this old guy out.
Give it a rest mate.
