@Curb_it yeah - I think they're thinking grass for the kids. They'd have to pin Pops down to stop her running down the road and there are other kids too. An adventure playground type thing would be good I suppose. They just don't exist these days all in the same place.
The Yacht in bexleyheath has a playground out the back with big garden.
Lovely one down at Horton Kirby, Fighting cock but probably too far for people to travel. My friend had his 40th down there with lots of kids and was very good.
Suzie...........you'll need to check with The Northbrook when they expect to have the garden open. I'm not sure when that is planned for, only that the plans are in place to do it.
Back to the thread title "worst pubs", & back to the Boadicea at Charing X station. It's been renamed "The Beer House", but doesn't have any real ale, and prices start at £4.50/pint. So it must be on the shortlist on several counts.
Post Office in Eltham. Went in a while back it did'nt have two bits of furniture that match, all the shelfs behind the bar were empty, and clientel looked like cast of shamless. Although bloke behind the bar was catually quite nice guy.
years ago when I played in a little band we were at the Thomas A'Beckett, sheesh what a dive it was, but the long gone Southern Stars in Deptford was great.
The Porcupine seems to have died a bit of a death even the sign is upside down. I only went in there once with and got fronted , i was with the wife, her friend and 4 kids. Any pub in Wales.
I used to go in the Northbrook as a young 'un with my parents in the summer, I can confirm that the garden was fantastic for us to run around in with plenty of space and no means of escape at all.
Always felt the pub was a really bad loss and that it would be great to see it re-generated - just have to hope that they exclude the Chav coke-snorting Scum that helped wreck the place - although that may mean barring some of my relatives.

quit you're moaning everyone & count your blessings that you live in a land with a half-decent boozer never more than a short stumble away.....

Been shut and gutted out for about 5 years. The pub opposite is one thats trying to be "trendy".
The Post Office is, and always has been, a shocking dive, fit only for Chavs and Pikeys.
Any pub in Wales.
