Llera

  • I agree 100% and told Parky on Thursday that Llera is a disaster waiting to happen. I said Fry was the better player.

Both Parky & Breacker repeated that Llera is better in the air and so is likely to play when the opposition have a big bloke up front.

What a pile of shit. Llera is 100% crap as I said in quote 9 of this thread.

We will go nowhere with him playing. The whole team must be panicked knowing there is a fookin great whole in the middle of the defence, when he plays. He can't turn quick enough & gets roasted on average at least once a game. Sometimes like today I think he got left for dead 3 times.

If he ever plays again it will be too soon.

I repeat what i said in quote 9 - he would be my last resort 6th choice.

    Enoughs enough !
  • Covered end Parky also told you that he gives us better distribution. Are the other defenders so technically inept that we have to rely on Lleras crossfield pass?It comes from so far
that a ten year old could cut it out.
The man gives you the idea he is walking on eggshells. Its worrying though because our whole defence is a mess.
  • Well Worner is too small - end of . I know he made 3 great saves, but he still missed a couple of crosses completely and dropped another. On another day he could have cost us 3 goals. The loan goalie should be playing.

Francis is getting better, but I'm still far from convinced.

Jackson played for Spurs, so can't be too bad.

Doherty was 3rd in Norwich's player of the year.

So change the goalie & get rid of Llera.
  • Christian Dailly at centre half today and we would not have conceded that second goal. However poor the ref was. However unlucky we were hitting the woodwork three times and losing two of our brightest players to injuries. However poorly composed Wagstaff was on a couple of occasions when well placed to score. However much of a load Benson was. It came down to one cross and one bit of marking and we couldn't manage it.

Agreed, but we got away with a couple of scrambles. Llera's basically got all the kit, but seems to always be at the centre of some kind of error that lets the team down.
  • God knows what Matt Fry has done to deserve being on the bench because of this clown. What an awful defender he is, it wouldn't be half as bad if he didn't think he was David Beckham either!!
  • Elliot,Francis??Dailly,Fortune,Youga,Semedo,(Solly)Wagstaffe,Martin,Benson,Asinah,Jackson.Best 11.
Injuries are making us lose our shape and strenght.Too many substitutes are below level.
It might be time to try a couple of youngsters.Talk about having to go up at all costs will only lead to much frustration.

In a nutshell yes. Ridiculous lunge at Exeter cost us a point, I believe the scorer today was his man (I stand to be corrected), that cost us two points. That's a whole win, bearing in mind we are not even out of September yet, down to one man.

And before anyone says, indeed he did score today but you'd hope any tall powerful centre half would be able to nod a corner in a few times per season.

Every fan I spoke to can't stand Llera, he can't defend and lets the strikers walk all over him when he should be the one defending.

For crying out loud if Parky says he is good in the air, don't he stop to think what other area's Llera is used to defend? Since I have started getting a season ticket from 1994 onwards, Llera has got to be the worst player I have seen in a Charlton shirt.

I just hope some nutter does this to Llera.

Sorry mate, that is a ridiculous thing to say. Llera may be a liabilty but no player deserves that sort of treatment. The Everton fan there is a thug.

The most depressing thing about the bbc article is the Charlton score from that particular weekend.

Sorry - that last bit was over the top from me, but it just amazes me how a lot of us see was part of the defence we are lacking and Parky has some strange idea to play Llera.

    My bad :-(
  • Covered End's post no. 32 summed up exactly how i feel. Nothing more to add.
  • I stand corrected... Doherty's man scored... but that was some flick-on for their "penalty"!
  • The 2nd goal was poor defending by Fry - that's the sad truth.

Llera is far from the worst defender in this league - whilst he is a carthorse he is rarely beaten serially. We are however exposed when his partner is also not quick.

As for dropping Worner - he was MOM today and the reason we got a point. He might not be all conquering in the air but he is very quick off his line and is infinitely more agile than Elliott. Go easy on him for christs sake
  • I thought he was very unlucky with the penalty he came so close to saving it!

Llera was an almost ever present in the MK Dons side that was second for most of the season the year before we signed him. He was also in all of the six wins we played at the start of last season.

Coming on here to tell the world that all of his colleagues hate working with him is ridiculous.

We are losing millions of pounds a year and we have two other centre halves (Fortune and Dailly) out and we have to play someone. I would love to see us sign a Richard Rufus or a Jorge Costa, but we can't afford one.

This is not the Premier League, all players have limitations if they are going to play at this level. If you really insist on watching flawless players every week go to Chelsea or Arsenal. If, however, you genuinely want to 'support' Charlton then maybe it's time to stop complaining about players that wouldn't get into Spain's World Cup winning squad and give those that are doing their best the support to do better, rather then jumping on them when they prove to be less than perfect.

People often ask why it is that so many players seem to go backwards when with us. With the attitudes of some on here you may well have your answer!
  • Llera is somewhat ungainly and awkward in style and thus tends to stand out more than other players. Perfect credentials for a scapegoat. He got us a goal, a couple of important headers, but like everyone else, overall he didn't have a good game. But hey, let's crucify him anyway.
  • He's the third choice (soon to be fourth choice) centre back for a broke league one team, with a small squad.

He's not perfect, but that's why he's playing for us.

Fortune has not been in yet. Fry played well there in the last home game.

Llera keeps getting caught out of position and then makes stupid tackles.
  • The marking for the dagenham second goal was non existent and the defensive positioning terrible. I blame parkinson for putting x2 slow central defenders together. You can get away with a central defender who is tactically and positionally very good and not the fastest (Dailey / Doherty) but to have the other one slow (and positionally poor) as well is asking for trouble. Fortune and Fry have to be ahead of Llera.

  • Llera is an honest third division pro who gives his all. Third division pros make mistakes. It does seem that Llera's are highlighted more than others though. I thought the first goal was a disputed penalty and Racon if anybody whilst the second was Fry and Doherty but Llera is the man to blame obviously.

The Charlton boo boy loves a scapegoat! One of them will be becoming back with Brighton in a few weeks.....

Thanks for the reminder Len. Kish - booooo . Only joking :-)
  • What I can't understand is why Llera is always adopting the left back position when it comes to clearing the ball. Yesterday he did it and left a gaping whole through the middle and their centre forward a one on one with Doherty. We have in Jackson a dead ball specialist who should be doing that.
  • Remind me to never tell Sir Chriss any of my secrets lol!
  • I like Llera's long crossfield passes.....The tension as to whether it will be the 1 in 10 that doesn't go out for a throw in adds to the excitement of the game :-)

He's a back up league 1 defender. Yes he's often a liability but he always gives it his all and i can't ask more of him. If he's not consistant enough but gets picked then it's the managers fault for playing him, not the players fault for not being good enough.
  • As a mate said on saturday, Llera spends more time apologising for mistakes than he does actually defending.
  • will never get over what happened at Colchester last season. worst performance ive seen from a professional footballer. actually, worst performance ive seen from any footballer.

I remember when he was subbed that night, he took off that protective head gear thing and threw it on the floor as though it was because of that. He hasn't worn it since and he hasn't got much better either.

Didn't he play that night when both injured and ill because of our shortage of bodies?

No wonder the likes of Youga have disappeared into a black hole if that attitude is typical of the reaction of our fans to a show of commitment to the cause.
