Llera

edited September 2010 in General Charlton
Am a good friend of one of the players brother, not going to name names as was told to keep it quiet. But what he said to me was, the players all can't seem to understand why Llera ever gets a look in. It was his fault for the goal saturday, and the boys see him as a major liability and don't like playing with him in the side.

Thing is, I can see what he was saying. I wouldn't feel safe having him in my back four...

You were told to keep it quiet so put it on a message board? The brother should be able to work this one out pretty quickly mate!
  • He doesn't come on here 'mate'
  • Phew, thank goodness
  • A mate of mine was an U18s MK Dons player, from what he used to say to me, Dons Academy players seemed to have the same sort of views as to why he gets a look in in the first team. Hes obviously a nice guy, you can see that, always showing a smile!I honestly think Parky should give him a go upfront!Would take the pressure of him, because if you take his left foot and his left foot only into question....the boys got plenty of ability to shine in league 1!
  • Doesn't surprise me, when he plays Elliot especially always seems to have a go at him.

He is too much of a liability though, he can have a performance like against Orient but then he is just as likely to be all over the place the next.

So - you post something which could quite reasonably be taken as utter, utter bollocks, someone posts a light-hearted response and you jump on it? That sounds reasonable.
  • The reason he had a quality game against orient was purely because everything was on his head & pinned back into the 18 yard box. I really cant stand the bloke but after the orient game i praised his performance. Anything at his feet though & he is an absolute donkey or anything in the air when his pushed up the pitch further than the 18 yard box all it takes is a ball over the top. Saturday for example.

Well I wouldn't be surprised. If the majority of the fans think he is a liability I don't see why the players wouldn't think the same.

Llera is obviously a very nice bloke & I'd like him to succeed, but I can't see it happening.

As I said elsewhere, I'd only play him as a last option.

IE Dailly , Doc, Fry, Fortune, Youga & Semedo would be my first 6 options. Probably even Francis as he has the height. (obviously if fit)

AOB Llera. Sorry Miguel. But the 5-10 points that you may cost us this season could be the difference between making the play offs or not.
  • Llera has a great attitude and must work exceptionally hard in training, there were many times last season when Parky mentioned these two factors when he talked of Llera. However he is a liability, like Sam Sodje last season, both were always a risk and cost us goals amd points.

While Dailly is out, I would rather see Doc and Fortune start at CB (unlikely for a couple of weeks at least), Doc and Fry, Doc and Semedo, just not Llera and Doc.
  • Didn't hear to many people complaining when he came on against Orient and won everything in the air

  • He is probably the best player on the team for winning headers, just everything else he is pants at. Bit of a shame really as he does seem to always give 100% in and isn't afraid to put his body on the line.
  • Again didn't hear too many complaints when he scored an absolute beauty against Swindon in the last minute when we were down to 9 men. Every game we have to find a scape goat. If it's not Llera its Akpo if its not either of them it seems inevitable it's going to be Francis. It's not his fault that we have ended up in this league.

He is a third division player playing in the 3rd division. He is probably less guilty of giving away goals than some of our strikers have been in recent years of not scoring them. Give the guy a break. Constant hammering and jeers will not help his confidence one bit.
  • To be fair i think you'll always hear complaints about him whether he scores or not. He makes silly mistakes and has terrible control. Gives everything but sometimes that just aint enough. Not sure he gets a constant hammering just some people on a forum asking if he's good enough or not.
  • Come on jpb. Whenever you watch him it's heart in the mouth stuff. Why would anyone complain if his just scored a 92nd minute beauty against swindon. That one goal doesn't make him a great defender. His not a scape goat. His pony full stop. Read my previous comment about the orient game. He was class purely because he was pinned back in the 18 yard box and the balls were on his head all day long. Saturday was an example of how easy it would be for a team to get past him. Simple ball over the top. Job done. He should be reading them passes
  • Being as poor and crap as we are atm the likes of llera and akpo are back up players that we need cos they'll do a better job than whatever we have coming thru the youth ranks atm
so as much as they are pony so are we and we don't appear to be the club that improves many players for now
one day our coaching will improve and we'll get the best out of players but as for now it appears they have to move on to maximise their abilities

  • I dont really know what we expect we are league one club with limited budget he is probably our 4th choice centre half and there is a reason. He is limited but how many defenders that dont make the odd blunder sit in the reserves of a league one club
  • Totally agree with you CAFC B.
  • Did ok on boxing day
  • I actually think Llera is not far off being a really really good player. He just lacks something.

But until he gets that something, he's a liability!

  • concentration? decision-making?

very impressive that he managed to be at fault for that goal on saturday twice, first letting the ball drop and then putting in that needless challenge!

But llera might - going to do his confidence a world of good reading that his team mates hate playing with him.

    Horrible post.

Thought it'd interest people on here as to what I heard, make of it what you will, but obviously this hasn't interested you. Don't see how what I posted was a problem but heyho, everyone to their own I guess

People on here are just surprised by your lack of ethics.
  • LMAO oggy is bang on
  • Tame compared to us losing the valley ad our home according to sir Chris
  • Never realised one comment that has come from someone else could cause so many issues. Was a passing comment made to me that I thought I would share with you lot.

Nth London Addick, if you check that thread, the comment never came from me, it came from someone else and I was making a comment about truth and reality.
  • Llera is ok in a tight 451 or maybe in the middle of a 352. Needs a lot of guidance and protection. I like the suggestion that he could be a lump at the front striker, could score goals with his head and has a good shot.

He is a bit bambi on ice and positioning is not great. He is good for certain circumstances. Not good in an opening attacking formation as he will get done for pace.

Obviously a nice guy and has guts, remember the head guard. The manager just has to be aware of his limitations and play him in the right formation.

Against Notts County it should be 451 if Llera is playing.
  • Llera was shocking today again, especially in the second half. I know he scored but it is not what he is primarily paid to do, the guy is a liability and an embarassment. Too often when the opposition get a chance it is down to a mistake from Llera and I genuinly wonder why Parky persists with him. Surely the coaches must realise he is not good enough and quite frankly not fit to wear the shirt. He seems to start games ok but loses the plot especially after we concede a goal and I do not think we will ever get out of this league with players like Llera in the side. I am sure he is a nice guy and apparantly has a great attitude but it is not good enough. Fry to play Tuesday and the sooner Fortune and Dailly get fit- the better.

It has been commented he is a league 1 player playing in a league 1 side but honestly is he? I have not seen many worse defenders in this league.
