[cite]Posted By: CaFc X HaZzA[/cite]im afriad it might be a draw after last years performance by oldham they have got more chance of wanting to win than rob elliot trying to score a goal kick
Well, this Oldham side under Paul Dickhead are playing a completely different type of game, compared to the Oldham side that 'parked the bus' here last season.
team picks itself really except Solly at RB. Was excellant against Bournemouth and I thought Francis was poor at Orient. Passing was poor, positioning poor and allowed McGleish to sneak round the back to score. Just cause we paid a fee don't mean he should play. 2-1 to us, tight game.

Unfortunately I think Francis is going to be preferred over Solly - PP will go for height at the back and use Solly as a utililty player on the bench. I think he's wrong but I'm pretty sure that's how it'll go this season.
After Orient, everyone is expecting us to beat allcomers, but this will be a tricky fixture and could frustrate our supporters....a draw could well be on the cards; I'd go for 1-1.
An interesting game in prospect in my opinion, Abbott playing against his old side so soon after leaving will want to put one over on them. My concern is we have to play without Dailly and Semedo, can Llera step up and not make any major mistakes? I think if the players can continue with the spirit they have shown in the first two matches when up against the odds, then we can win 2-0. Abbott and Martin to score. Going to miss another game.......but will listen on CAFC player. Hope all who are going enjoy the day.
Oldham to be in front for the first half and then we either draw or sneak a winner at the end. People are forgetting we are without our two best players.

You all seem far to confident about beating us. Abbott when things do not go well, he goes into a massive sulk and everything just bounces off him and nothing he tries will come off and he won't chase down as much. Regarding Gregan; yes he may be fat, but any striker with no pace will be worth nothing in any game against him. Even plenty of strikers with pace have a nothing game against him. He may be quite large, but he will outmuscle majority of strikers in this league, ( his backside usually does the trick ) and he is a class player. Last season we was rubbish. We played the most negative football i have ever seen in my time supporting Oldham. This season we will go to win, and we will chase down every ball etc... Against Notts last week, 2-0 up, lost ball attacking, players ran back 30-50 yards to win the ball back despite being comfortably ahead. If you think we will be a easy game, well your in for a shock tomorrow. For you fans who think we will be easy, and you will win by 4 goals (well we do have a 'Brill' keeper) i seriously hope we stuff you lot. However i think it will be an open entertaining end-to-end game, few goals for either side, and will be a 2-2/ 3-2 either way game.
[cite]Posted By: Covered End[/cite]Gregan was their best player at The Valley last season.
true but he made me look slim the size of thaty blokes arse i aint surprised no one got round him the game is only 45 mins a half would take most people a week to jog that far
Regardless of his size he was superb against us last season and I suspect he will be all over Abbott
Iirc gregan was paired with a young and athletic chap and that seems to suit him.
To break them down today will require Martin to use a bit of quality and Waggy and Reid to cause havoc on the wings.
Key man - it could be a day for a battering ram. Step forward Akpo Sodje

I may regret saying this, but I'm really pleased you will come and attack us. We usually do better in open games than when a team parks the bus. It's also better to watch of course.

Not Pawel Abbott, he is a proper unit as I'm sure you know.[/quote]
He got outmuscled and out jumped by quite a few defenders last year. Always moans to the ref when something goes against him, so ref ignores it more and more.
Also Gregan won't be playing due to not being match fit after recently recovering from an injury which has been put down to wear and tear over his long career.
Will attack, but dont expect that to naturally leave us opened up as our players do have some pace, especially when getting back.
Regarding our strikers, we are not yet sure who Dickov is planning on playing upfront now that Feeney is back after a slight groin problem with Northern Ireland. It is likely to be Tounkara and Bembo-Leta again. Tounkara is 6ft+ and has some pace (especially when he does his running face!) and will cause your defence problems. Bembo-Leta is very small, but dont expect that to make him as easy as you think. He has some pace, good ball control and likes to get in behind defenders. Can also win a few headers (e.g. his goal against Scunthorpe) Even if you are winning comfortably like majority of the fans on here seem to think - we'll still harrass you for every ball - we will have some decent players on the bench. E.g. Chris Taylor (if is on bench) is getting back to fitness, and has a new determination from what i have seen this season, so he is hopefully going to be back onto full form when he was one of the most feared wingers in the division and had to be double/triple marked to stop him

What are Oldham like up front ? I do worry about a Doc / Llera combo if they have nippy strikers , so Fry might be a better option.
Abbot 4' 45'
Llera 83'
