Orient 1 - 3 Charlton - PLAYER RATINGS

  • Team Performance 9

Parkinson 8.5 for some great substitutions / got it right strategically and is building a team with real spirit

Fans 8.5 / Valley Floyd Road clearly audible on television, in good voice throughout.

Ref - 6.5 / Missed a penalty in the first half for us / but levelled it up with McCormack in the second half. Refereed 15 games last season and didn't give one penalty (according to the commentator). He could have warned Dailey rather than sending him off as the tackle was clearly not maliciously intended and the ground was wet underfoot from the rain.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Elliot - 7 / Commanded the penalty box well, came out for crosses, quick out on the free kick in the first, distribution a bit Kielyesque - i.e a bit wayward

Francis - 7 / Great cross for the first goal

Dailly - 6 / Loses a mark for a clumsy challenge, the ref should have warned him before sending off, but he gave the ref the chance .

Doherty - 7.25 / Missed the cross for the first Orient goal but otherwise solild

Jackson - 6.75 / Solid enough - lost possession and caught out of position a couple of times.

Wagstaff - 8.5 / Excellent performance - great goal (Man of the match)

Racon - 7.5 / Disciplined performance - lots of good interceptions / cut outs - A bit under rated on here

McCormack - 8.25 / Great performance - scored a goal / Trustworthy in front of the back 4.

Reid - 7 - Quieter game but I think Orient concentrated more on stopping Reid as the danger man and this left some more space for Wagstaff to shine. What a difference having a decent left wing and right wing on the pitch makes.

Martin - 8.5 / Great Performance - could be the missing ingredient in our attack, behind the centre forward. V Impressed with him. I think he can be a real favourite with the Charlton supporters.

Abbott - 7.5 / Tireless running, led the line well.

Llera - 7.75 / Putting in such a solid performance after the poor midweek performance, shows he has Cojones. If he plays a tight defence, he is solid, in more open games his lack of pace betrays him, he just has to be played in the right defensive formation.

Solly - 7 / Came on and scored.
Sodje - 6 / Not quite sure he can play as the lead striker in a 451 / 4411.

  • Elliot - 6.5 Solid and not at fault for the goal
Francis - 6.5 Rangy and didn't get much wrong
Dailly - 5 Really he should have cost us the game. He's better than that.
Doherty - 8 Flying into everything
Jackson - 6 Not a left back, filling in, but so often out of position
Wagstaff - 8.5 Cool finish and cool assist. Really looked like he just had a bit more time and composure than everyone else. Not sure if it came across on TV but their starting left back looked out on his feet by the time he was subbed.
Racon - 7 Not too creative, but did a job
McCormack - 7 Very busy and got forward to good effect
Reid - 6.5 Looked very up for it, but didn't make much impression
Martin - 7 Looked a class apart, with the assist for the second goal the icing on the cake. Great pace too.
Abbott - 6 Didn't get much change out of Orient's defence, but worked hard.
Llera - 7.5 When balanced with an older calmer head he copes well

Parky - 8.5 Perfect subs and didn't sit back when they had their good spell.

  • Elliot - 6 Did ok and did come for balls into the box. I could be wrong but think his weight is going to stop him progressing.
Francis - 6 Looked a new player in a new team. My Southend mate who is a good judge, says he'll do ok for us but is more of a centre back....a bit like Martin Crainie? Great cross with his wrong (?) foot.
Dailly - 6.5 Didn't mean to foul the fella for the 2nd yellow but had to be booked and sent off. Doherty will miss him next week.
Doherty - 7 Not sure what he could have done with the O's cross for the goal...it was in behind him. Suited him to defend the box in the 2nd half but will rely on the others to keep him out of trouble when we have to press the game. Great blocker and header of the ball. He'll get goals too. A Phil Chapple type of centre back.
Jackson - 6 Will rely on his footballing ability to do the job. He's neat on the ball and a bit like Mark Bowen, will start lots of moves.
Wagstaff - 7 I had no doubt when I saw him run through...finishing is his stongest asset. Going down to 10 men suited him because O's left themselves very short at the back as they chased the game. Still a work in progress but at least he did the right things at the right time. Very important season for him.
Racon - 6.5 Not bad. Was never too far out of position, competed and tried to link the play.
McCormack - 6 Did very well for his goal and tried hard throughout. Defended the box well late on but struggled to impose himself on O's midfield.
Reid - 6 Well marked by Omozusi and took the wrong option a couple of times (hitting the long diagonal) when the game was tight. Still very inexperienced but expect him to do well.
Martin - 7 He's got ability and was impressed with his attitude. Just hope he's fit enough not to blow himself out later in the season. Talented player.
Abbott - 8 Very clever display. Aware of those around him, showed a superb touch and was prepared to get stuck in. Ideal replacement for Burton. Good player.
Llera - A bit like Doherty, the nature of the game suited him. Defended the box very well.

  • Elliot - 7 One punch that didn't go far but I think that was cos he punched the forward and left him in a heap on the ground. Must have missed all this bad kicking as don't remember it all all. handling and catching in the rain was good
Francis - 6 not impressed. Good assist but otherwise not great. Where was he for their goal?
Dailly - 5 Deserved to go. Clear handball for first and dived in the second. Had done well otherwise
Doherty - 6 Good in air, less so on the deck
Jackson - 7 Little came down his side
Wagstaff - 8 For that goal and that assist. Worked very hard defensively and didn't get much opportunity to go forward but when he did WOW. Had a bit of gritt in him as well. Was ready to have a ruck after a nasty tackle. Let's not write him off just yet hey.
Racon - 6.5 Dug in well but not as creative as would hope. Lost ball for their goal
McCormack - 8 Immense. Great run and finish for the goal and battled non-stop all game. Still not been booked!
Reid - 6 Not as blistering as last week but still worked hard. That Orient defender, Omo-something, gave him a good game.
Martin - 6.5 Didn't see what all the fuss was for. Has skill and look forward to him getting more into the team. Good set up for Waggy's goal and worked hard defensively but too far off Abbott to capitalise on Pavel's good work
    Abbott - 8 What a good buy. Well done Richard Murray : - )
Llera - 7.5 Dominant and seemed gee'd up to do well

Solly - I can only remember him touching the ball once : - )
Sodje - Right man at right time to relieve Abbott. Played further up as told to and dragged their defence back with him. Linked well with Waggy and ran when it made sense to.

  • Elliot - 7 wayward kicking at times, but solid
Francis - 7.5 shaky start, but great assist for first goal, and got better and better
Dailly - 7 should never have been sent off
Doherty - 7.5 can't fault him too much for their goal, and a rock after that
Jackson - 7 fairly quiet, but helped the rearguard stay strong
Wagstaff - 9 very impressive - superb goal and assist - keep it up and we have a star
Racon - 6.5 good at times, but drifted in and out and fell a bit deep second half
McCormack - 8 goal and block
    Reid - 6 didn't really get going
Martin - 8 real handful, classy, not a prima donna, helping out defensively
    Abbott - 7.5 another handful
Llera - 8 came into a difficult situation and held it together brilliantly

Solly - got to get a mention for (a) not throwing a wobbly at being unfortunate not to start and (b) scoring with his only touch!

  • Elliot - 6 Like the lad but don't feel 100% confident in him. Shakey punches and kicking
Francis - 6.5 Not a bad debut, will get better - great cross
Dailly - 5.5 Lost a lot of headers and definite sending off
Doherty - 8 Immense, great signing, another leader on the pitch
Jackson - 6.5 Not his best game but solid enough
Wagstaff - 8.5 Brilliant last night. I've said it before, but a new Jonny Robinson in the making
Racon - 6.5 Not bad, but where has the attacking threat gone?
McCormack - 8 Great game, got a goal, tackled all night and took one in the FACE for the team.
Reid - 6.5 Not at his best, but always a constant threat.
Martin - 7 Good game, a sort of Paolo di Canio for league one.
Abbott - 7.5 I like this guy. Great to see him encouraging his team mates when he came off.
Llera - 7 Headed everything, despite flaws will be a good back up to Doc and Dailly.

Overall fantastic to watch - rose tinted specs back on COYR
  • Elliot - 7 Very decisive, but some of his distribution was a bit "early season"
Francis - 8 Set up opening goal with a beautiful, left-footed cross; little else
Dailly - 4 Captain let the side down with a ridiculous challenge to get sent off
Doherty - 7 Showed some bottle and nous, especially after we went down to ten
Jackson - 7 Largely annonymous - not necessarily a bad thing for a full-back, playing away
Wagstaff - 9 Very "smart"; took his chance brilliantly; gambled well for the third, my MoM
Racon - 8 Put himself about effectively; lost ball for the goal, otherwise, steady and effective
McCormack - 8 He's not exactly Nicky Bailey. Which might prove to be as much a blessing as anything
Reid - 7 Marginalised. We'll see better from him as the season progresses
Martin - 9 Excellent. Looks a very exciting performance. Can see why ten clubs have signed him already
Abbott - 8 Part Andy Hunt, part Carl Leaburn. Either way, that's a good thing
Llera - 8 Came on at 1-1, score ended 3-1. Job done

  • Elliot - 6.5 Still raw in goalkeeping terms but much more imposing than his oppo last night, another young keeper.
Francis - 7 Felt Solly might've started but he did well and set up a goal with his wrong foot.
Dailly - 4.5 Not his best night but so glad he signed again.
Doherty - 7 Only the odd slip detracted from a dominant display.
Jackson - 6.5 Steady again in what's not his preferred position.
Wagstaff - 8.5 Not just the goal & assist. He needed a good game and worked his socks off.
Racon - 7.5 Thought he might struggle sitting deeper but did v well without dominating.
McCormack - 7.5 Box to box whilst keeping it simple. Always available.
Reid - 6 As said for Dailly. Great that we had so much menace even with him having a quiet one. Still worked hard.
Martin - 7.5 Really inpressed by how hard he worked when we had 10.
Abbott - 6 Nice to see it stick when we have to go long. We also got numbers up quickly to play off him.
Llera - 7 Revelled in the backs to the wall scenario.

Can I give Solly 10 just for the sheer enjoyment he gave me?!

For the record this had to be a tv one, but thankfully one we could sit glued to without inane comments from non-believers. Oh, and we gave Waggy the mom before Sky did.

  • Elliot - 7, came off his line well, was decisive in clearing but his distribution was poor.
Francis - 7, defensively was sound, great cross for McCormack, but didn't link well going forward.
Dailly - 7, marshalled the defence well, stupid booking for handball which cost him dear when he got a second yellow. Otherwise played well.
Doherty - 7, won most of his headers and was a physical presence all night.
Jackson - 7, capable at LB, linked well with Reid.
Wagstaff - 8, - mom - who needs Lloyd Sam? He came of age and hopefully the goal and the assist will set him up for a great season, maybe they'll make him a marked man, if so that'll take the pressure off Reid and our forward line. If we are to get promoted we need goals and assists from the midfield and he contributed when it mattered.
Racon - 7, did his job well.
    McCormack - 7, midfield enforcer.
Reid - 6, poor game, I don't think the pitch helped but nevertheless he had enough oportunities to show what he could do. He'll have better games.
Martin - 8, ran tirelessly, got back in defence a few times and looked to link play and kept Orient's defence guessing.
Abbot - 7, selfless performance a handful for his markers all night.
Llera - 8, immense. Came on cold, and at a time when Orient thought they had the upper hand having just equalised and then seen Dailly sent off, he locked the defence down and kept Orient at arms reach of our goal for the rest of the game.

Solly - well taken goal that killed things off nicely.
Sodje - no real comment, came on tried and lumbered around to little effect, but then in the few minutes he was on he didn't get any kind of possession that could be described as quality.

harsh played a big part in the 3rd goal with his hold up and pass to waggs
  • Elliot - 6.5 solid, poor kicking
Francis - 7 good first game, distribution suspect at times, handy to have his height in the back 4
Dailly - 6.5 solid before sending off
Doherty - 7.5 apart from the goal didn't put a foot wrong
    Jackson - 7 solid
Wagstaff - 7.5 didn't think he had a great first half, but showed quality in 2nd
Racon - 7 good game tonight and defended well, shame about the mis-placed pass that cost us a goal
McCormack - 7.5 surprisingly got himself into the box a few times, solid midfield play
Reid - 6 dissapointing tonight, Omosuzi played well against him
Martin - 7.5 ran his socks off and added some class
Abbott - 7 led the line well, could be a great link up with Martin
Llera - 7 pleased for him, no mistakes, very solid, hope he keeps it up next week
