  • [cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]excellant news, things beginning to look up a bit.

    Upbeat note from Large.

What next, a really positive post from Golfie ....?

    ;o)
  • No one is saying you should negotiate in public Airman..... But you could say that Charlton have expressed an 'interest', are in talks etc.

Do you really think that agents and other interested parties don't check out these type of websites for speculative deals and rumours.

This was posted on here hours ago, I know you cannot comment on any speculation and issue denials to every story.
No one is claiming that you are holding on to stories, or trying to keep fans in the dark!.......

I checked the OS board at 12 oclock and there was nothing!...... I am sure the negotiations have gone on for days, if not weeks fine!

In a week that has some fans express quite a frustration with the club aka Richardson, I would have thought that some good news was a priority!

Appreciate the issues...... that is one of the issues of the web and instant on demand news!

You either make fans inclusive or exclude them...... I am not sure there is a half way house, for the legitimate reasons you have stated.
  • excellent signing and nice comments from Craig Short about Jackson.....doesn't say how long his contract is for 1 or 2 years?

Now just keep Semedo and sign a decent striker(s)/right back/keeper/fortune.....and we're in business..;o)
  • Very happy with this.

But take my hat off to Craig Short for being human and allowing him to leave.

    Nice sentiments from him.
  • I believe Jacko's wikipedia stated he was an Addick last night when I was, erm, researching

But why Ken ? Then they'll be expected to comment on every tom dick and harry rumour. Managers 'express an interest' in probably 30+ players every close season, which ones should be made public and which ones not ?

Its a very hard line to draw, and i think at the moment the OS gets it right. It officially states when something is done when it is felt right from the club's part. Sometimes things will unofficially leak out first (which i don't actually think is a bad thing), sometimes it doesn't.

Agree the OS works well as it is. Confirms when something is official, and like with Bailey and Shelvey, sometimes states that a deal is close or the clubs are in talks.

There are plenty of sites and forums for rumours to be on, and there's no benefit to the club if they confirm who Parky is looking to sign. Other clubs could then come in for the players, or people will moan when deals take "too long" or break down.
  • Great news. Good player who can attack, defend, play in three different roles and most importantly IMHO take a bloody free kick!

And I don't think it will be the last bit of news on transfer coming our way.

And yes, people do blame the OS staff and call them lazy. Stu from HU5 said something this week along the lines of "they'll be something in a few weeks when they get round to it".

Just laughable that after both the Feeney and Bailey deals didn't turn out the way SSN said people still can't see the sound reasons for waiting. I love hearing rumours and gossip but knowing that the OS will only run the story of a signing when it is 100% done is, to me at least, re-assuring. Once they start speculating they who can you rely on?

As Airman says the OS team would love to have a free hand but they don't.
  • Great news !!!!!!!!!!

Now expect to read later this afternoon that we have sold Semdo & Racon ! lol

    only joking !!!!!!!!!

    I'm happy again.

Of course not, still need several more signings, or are you suggesting there might be more this week?

I'm expecting at least 5 or 6 more in and perhaps 1 or 2 out.

A decent striker is the huge priority imo.

Well that is what you call editorial judgement......... It is what I used to do every day for nearly 40 years, the last 8 being at the bbc.

Now dont get me wrong, but I would like to think that the bbc get's a few more stories, alleged, true, and false than Charlton...... And thank god i did not have to be responsible for confirming and denying them.......
    '
I did however have probably a weekly argument with the 'management' about when and what to publish in the public interest. If you read my post you do NOT have to respond to every rumour......

As I originally posted who are we/you trying to protect here!. When you have a posting of 120 plus comments it is hardly a secret..... is it!.... In fact we had a not true posting......

As I mentioned commercially anf financial information is always hard to discuss on public forums, but then I was one for discussing all bbc pay and salary for staff /stars/ over £100,000 because it was a public service.

Perhaps I was at odds with the bbc!. Perhaps that may be why I am no longer there!.Like the staff at Charlton perhaps they do not agree with all the management decisions at the Valley!......
  • May I be the first to register my disgust at the OS not being the first to tell me about Raoul Moats movements, come on Rick, sort it out, I want to know if he's transferred to another woods, is he training in a farmhouse somewhere, and why oh why oh why has Sky News beaten you to the hop on showing me how to build shelters and fires, as well as how to eat witchety grubbs....sort it out now Rick....ps....about my letter a few years back on dress codes for the West Stand, still not had a reply??????????????

    DA9
    Disgusted.
    A woods/copse somewhere near Dartford.
  • Result!!!!!!!!

This is fantastic news in my eys.... great stuff...

Go on Parky keep picking them up...

    Delighted from Melbourne...
  • Don't get me wrong, very good signing. I don't think he's a full on Bailey replacement, but will be more comfortable on the left, I think. I hope he's used more in midfield than defence though as I reckon he might not be ideally suited to left back - a good fill in option, but I'd not sign him in that spot.
  • Pleased with this one.

    Really hope we keep younga!!!
  • Some good news. Hoping that he would play on the left-side of midfield alongside Semedo and one other (McCormack) with somebody with a bit of pace down the right perhaps?

You were right when you said we would be ok and I cannot wait for the others to be announced as that will really shut the moaners up

Who was that man monster at Northampton ....?

Apparently AFKA Bartram..... cfgs!..... so now we know!....
Don't we 'Dan'....thanks for the info
  • Big difference is that if Dan calls it wrong the worst he will get is a few midget jokes.

If the OS got it wrong there would be hell to pay about them "lying" to us, being "unprofessional" etc.
  • Henry, in the tone of one drunk bloke to another, "Leave it mate it is not worth it!"
  • Surely SSN are not 'lying'or being unprofessional then Henry.......

They probably cannot see the ' wood from the trees' as DA9 pointed out in such poor taste.......

Mind you in the case of Murdoch inc you probably have a point! ( ask a few old Times employees)

That is the trouble when you play 'devils advocate' Henry...... which was the point of my post
  • So the thread was Jackson and Reid to sign? Anyone know any rumorus or heard anything about Reid?

[cite]Posted By: ken from bexley[/cite]Surely SSN are not 'lying'or being unprofessional then Henry.......
Nothing wrong with the media speculating or saying deals are done. There would be outrage on Your Views if the club had said on the OS we're signing Jackson and then it fell through.
  • [cite]Posted By: BigRedEvil[/cite]So the thread was Jackson and Reid to sign? Anyone know any rumorus or heard anything about Reid?

Yeah, right, Big Red ....... where's Reid?

Not a whisper. Not good enough. Sort it aht, Parky!
  • Woould be nice to get Reid too but well pleased with getting JJ who gives us left-sided options if Reid doesn't materialise. Now for a goal-scorer!
  • Excellent news, been away from the PC all day so very pleased to sign in and see this. Hope to see him given a chance in the middle alongside Semedo.

Even though they are very different players obviously, this has softened the Richardson blow a little.
