I think its ridiculous all this talk of getting a refund on tickets just because we sold Richardson, on paper it is great business. He was a decent player but as they said the club could not turn it down!
That simply means we need the cash to keep the wolfs from the door. I would rather see him leave than go into administration and take a 10 point hit. Granted I was angry that Pardew has come back to haunt us yet again and can picture his smug grin! However money is money and we need it. This time last year many on the here did not even know who Richardson was.
We could get an even better player? It can happen, there are deals out there to be had. As for the other senior players, I think its time for a change!
Parkie got Richardson on a freebie last season and it seems we are all agreed that this was a decent bit of business, so what is to say that he won't go out and get other freebies of similar quality, as a club with no money being able to generate income through astute work in the transfer market (Bailey / Rchardson) is a contribution to our future.
By all means seek reimbursement of your season ticket but at least wait till 6th of July when you know who the team consists of and you maybe pleasantly surpriced (of course they may all be cack).
When Holloway was appointed Blackpool mananger before start of last season a Blackpool fan returned his season ticket and got a refund. Then he missed all their promotion season - hopefully the same happens here.
I'm upset about Richardson and have been suffering for months, I'm more worried about next season more than excited but I'm just waiting for the day when things will turn for the better.
I hope you get a refund, but then I again I would like the 92 Valley back again and get a bit of atmosphere going again in the proper covered end. Get the dead wood out of the stands as well as the pitch.

If people don't like what's on the pitch there is plenty of opportunity during the season to express that view. Yes, there had to be changes to cut costs and some of them were always going to be painful, but the squad which started last season was much stronger than many people had anticipated and the same may happen again.
For what it's worth I think the Richardson sale is down to Pardew's enduring willingness to p*ss other people's money up the wall rather than anything else. Decent player at this level, but overvalued in this case.
If Fortune 82nd Minute is the real deal, and has been going since 1968 .......... then he's been through the rollercoaster of the last 40 years - and seen better times than this, but he's also been here before.
So you know the script - why chuck your ST in now.......?
Losing Richardson was hugely disappointing, but every player has his price ........ and the Board has told us time and time again, that financial survival is the priority. So deep down, are we really surprised?
If we're disappointed, imagine how Parky feels ..... he's trying to build a side to challenge for promotion, and he's already lost 2 of his very best players.
Put yourself in his shoes. He's got to go out and find another player as dependable and effective as Frazer Richardson, probably on a free and offer half Richardson's wages.
Sorry, but if someone was serious about wanting a refund on there ticket they wouldn't be asking about it on a forum, they would be ringing the club up asking how to go about it.
Look on the bright side, things can only get better...........can't they?
I hope so, you can only read so many woe is me / world over type posts, gets boring after a while. I'm looking forward to (hopefully) having a small, hard working squad, free of wage leachers and dead wood who want to play for the team. It will be refreshing if it works.
For goodness sake! I don't get the hysteria over Richardson leaving -- for a Pardew level fee, incidentally. He's not a world beater, but a player we signed on a free last year because he was unwanted at a 3rd division club. Right now there are full backs as good as him available for free, and we have a young right back of great promise. Perhaps Frazer's gone so that we can afford to keep Semedo? We don't know, do we? Let's calm down.
Of the players left that you might me concerned about
If Racon was shipped out (presumably also on high wages, but with less obvious value, and far too inconsistent) I wouldn't be so concerned.
Youga I wouldn't be too concerned over either (high wages, value? very injury prone).
If Semedo went (high wages and only a year left, and a bigger value player mind) it might be time to start getting a refund - at the moment we could play him anywhere across the back four and at CM, and at the moment we might have to. If we could get a decent pairing for this Mcormack, I would be tempted to put him alonside Doherty myself or at right back. He is worth three players.
There isn't really anyone left though to worry too much about except maybe even Wagstaff, but surely he must be signing a new deal, why is it so quiet though?
[cite]Posted By: Mike_CAFC[/cite]I never got a season ticket, was always my plan to pay at the gate this season which ever games i choose to go to and put in more away games.
Not intended as a dig at you personally mate but there is a wider point here.
Charlton, our club, are skint and need money. If you pick your matches and come to home games then Charlton, your club, get the money. If you go elsewhere somebody else gets it.
In present circumstances all this nonsense about only being a "proper fan" if you travel away is outmoded in my opinion.
The people who attend home games are the proper fans because they are giving the Club what it needs. Income.

spot on. If I could only afford to go to a few games I'd go to one's at The Valley.
Blimey, is it only me who read his comment as being tongue in cheek? You lot all seem very highly strung...understandably so as you see Charlton settle in the 3rd division and wonder where 16,000 fans have vanished too in a few years.
& is it only me who goes along to football no matter what? Whether the team is playing poorly or not, whether star players have left or not, whether the board are mugs or not...the fans are the club and always will be; performances, players and the board are temporary. As long as my mates are still going, the pub is open, we can all have banter and a laugh and there are 11 temporary players wearing my clubs shirt that I can support then I'll be going.
If the 11 players are half decent then that makes it even better!

Depends if you want to support the club, or team.
If there is no club there is no team.
Therefore to support the team it is necessary to support the club.

Never heard anything so silly. People who go to the Valley and never away are "proper" fans rather than those who go to some home & away games? As if this chap going to 10 less games and Charlton getting £250 less over the course of the season is going to make or break the club.
The 10,000+ fans who have stopped going completely are the ones you need to be worrying about!
When he is on the terrace at Hartlepool with 300+ others the Charlton players will appreciate that a lot more than him being one extra fan in 15,000 against Orient.
And when he witnesses a last minute win away to some northern shithole on a Tuesday night that will mean a lot more to him, the 400+ other fans and the 11 players than him being 1 extra fan within 15,000+ during a draw at home to Rochdale.

To give a little background you may not be aware of.
There has been a running theme on this forum for a long time that you are not a "proper fan" unless you travel away. It is in the context of that I have made my comments.
My personal view is that there is no such thing as a "proper fan" we are all individuals and do what we like. There are some though who criticise other fans because their behaviour is not what they want and accuse them of not being "proper."
Our club is skint so I simply voiced the view that it would be better to help the club financially by going to home games rather than line the coffers of other clubs and that one should not feel one is not a "proper fan," as explained, by doing that.
Therefore to support the team it is necessary to support the club.
By the same token, if there is no team, there is no club.
We need fans home and away, neither fan is less important than the other to suggest so in my opinion is stupid.
At the end of the day, as a fan, I go to games to watch the team I support and love, not to put £15/20 into the club, that's not really my concern is it. Nor is it my concern if my 15/20 is going to another club, they bring fans to us in return anyway, so it all works out.
Maybe if a few more fans had got off their lazy arses last year maybe we would have gone up, maybe a few hundred fans here and there would have spurred the team on to get that 3 extra points, shame we'll never know eh.
At the end of the day, a few match tickets here and there are not going to make a difference to the club, now going to games (including away) and getting behind the team and spurring them onto victory will do far more for the finances of the club than sitting in the west stand a few times a year drinking your bovril.

One thing that IS for sure, they won't have gone to your shithole!
Of course they wouldn't! They've all gone back to watching the original teams they supported (United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham) since you got relegated from the Prem.
