Wearing England shirts will not be banned this summer

There's been this story kicking around facebook for a couple of days now about the police banning people from wearing England shirts during the World cup. This rumour spread across FB like wildfire and now The Sun is actually reproducing this rubbish. The more simple minded among us have already started to jump up and down waving their fists in fury even though the story in the Sun actually states that shirts will not be banned. All this from a few people posting stuff in their status updates.

Their is no ban on England shirts but it is being reported as though their will be. More irresponsible journalism from what has to be the worst newspaper in the World.

Three Lions off my shirt.

"They want to avoid a repeat of violence which has marred previous events, particularly if England lose."

Cos the those who usually get in aggro at football are notorious for donning replica shirts and painting their faces. Utter garbage paper.
  • No pub is going to pay all that money for SKY or a dodgy link, stock up the bar and then turn people away cos of an England shirt.

    usual s*** stirring and lies
  • Why do people bother with this rag?
  • It's not just that the story is complete toss, this has been circulating around facebook for about 5 days now and has already been disproved via the same network.
  • You can watch this being spread around Facebook via Openbook, a site which shows up all the privacy holes in Facebook.

    pretty depressing viewing

You have found a flaw in my argument : - )

Regardless pubs want the football trade and aren't going to ban England shirt wearers.

  • Although I do think England shirts should be banned.

From being worn by any adult who isn't in Capello's squad
  • Love all those groups on Facebook.

"Don't let them turn the Old Tiger's Head into a mosque"
"Don't let the council ban St George's day"
"Don't let the EU tell us how to define the curve on a banana"
"They're trying to ban the word 'blackboard' in schools"

Would be f***ing laughable if it weren't for the sad number of gullible sheep who believe in it all.
  • I went to a Sunderland away match at Villa and no one was allowed in to this boozer with a football top on...

Once we got in and got served the jackets came off and everyone had a Sunderland top on...

Bouncers went ape shit and caused several rucks and they got a good hiding and the pub was wrecked...

OB turned up and just stood there, they would have needed an army to get us out...

That's exactly what could happen this summer...

Some people don't have the brains they were born with..
  • Total twaddle.

Mind you why make up mindless rubbish about PC morons? i mean leting guys who want to blow us to bits stay in this country rather than going back to their own as they might get a slap ---------- i mean who neeeds to make crap up about England shirts?

The truth is out there .
  • Some schools did ban kids from England shirts last world cup but allowed and other shirts to be worn as the England one may offened

You may be interested in this. I tried to post the links, but it didn't work.

    First quote from Daily Telegraph
    Second from Morning Advertiser ?????

    What a Difference a Recession Makes !!!!!!!!!!

    2006
A two-year-old became an unwitting victim of the World Cup hooligan crackdown after he was ordered to take off his England football top whilst having lunch in a high chair - in case he sparked trouble.

Charlie Elliot was sitting happily at Lloyds No1 in Leicester waiting for his food to be served when his parents were told they would have to leave the pub and would be barred if they didn't take the shirt off.

After an argument the pub manager agreed he could keep it on, but only if his parents turned it inside out...

A spokesman for Lloyds No1 owners, Wetherspoons, said: "We have had a policy of no football colours for a couple of years and it has contributed to order in the pub.

"It prevents trouble and it stops children or their parents being victims of verbal abuse. The policy is applied in all cases."

    2010
JD Wetherspoon plans to explicitly market its pubs as the place in which to watch the World Cup.

The company is set to screen most games — and certainly the England ones — at the majority of its sites, said spokesman Eddie Gershon.

It’s in contrast to the 2006 World Cup, when managers were given the choice about whether to screen games — and the sound was turned down. “This will be our biggest attack on the World Cup,” said Gershon.

“It’s something the company is taking very seriously. It will be the first time during a World Cup that our pubs will all have TVs in situ.”
  • Bloody Tory government ;-)

"If the England flag offends you, I'll be happy to help you pack!"

We are proud of our country. Why shouldn't we support our country and wave the St Georges flag? Love it, leave it, or shut up about it!

Police are urging pub/bar landlords to bar anyone wearing an England top. They want flags, shirts, etc banned so that we cannot support our country. They warned landlords saying "Police will not hesitate to use powers under the Licensing Act should we find you are not actively supporting the prevention of crime".

Wear your England shirt, wave your England flag and be proud of it. We support our country and the police should not be stopping us doing that. It supposedly offends minority groups but would a muslim remove their turban if it offended English people? No they wouldn't.

THIS GROUP IS NOT FOR RACISM, HATRED OR HARASSMENT.
THIS GROUP IS TO SHOW WE SUPPORT OUR COUNTRY AND WE ARE PROUD OF OUR COUNTRY - WE WILL NOT HIDE OUR SUPPORT IN OUR OWN COUNTRY BECAUSE OTHERS CLAIM TO BE OFFENDED BY OUR ST GEORGES FLAG.
ABUSIVE MESSAGES MAY BE REMOVED AND MEMBERS MAY BE REPORTED.
  • Muslims don't wear Turbans...
  • It's got a lot of clever people concerned.

THE POLICE ARE ASKING PEOPLE TO REMOVE THERE FLAGS AND TO GO AND CHANGE THERE ENGLAND TOP OR TO TAKE IT OFF SO IT DONT AFFEND PEOPLE FROM OVER COUNTRY ARE THEY TAKING THE PISS OR WATT.
I VOTE NOT TO TAKE OFF YOUR ENGLAND TOP IN THE PUB'S
  • LOL Maybe someone with English as a second language reading that.
