  • Anyone seen the post match thread?
  • lol right here! ;o)
  • Just back from the game. Great atmosphere and great support, and for a magic 10 odd minutes we were all on cloud nine. After that things were a bit more muted and there was a spot of tetchiness with the oppo fans, but great scenes at the end with lots of support and singing. The crowd 'sang we are going up' to the players at the end when they came back out to applaud the fans, which I think was important. We might not have got the dream result (we did all we could, played well and won), but we are still in it and we need to believe that we can do it.

As for the match, a good solid performance team performance, given the initial nervousness. Dailly was legend-like with some classy interventions and others also played very well and gave it 100%, even players like Mooney did very well - his effort and application were excellent. Bring on the Swindon!
  • What was up with Sam Sodje?
  • Injured in the warm up, apparently.

Despite a couple of nervous early mix ups, Miguel did fine.
  • Just got home from Boundary Park.

An efficent win, the first goal was the result of some good passing with the ball coming in from Sam, passed on to leave Bailey standing at the far post with a tap in. The second goal a free kick, left of centre, Llera struck in along the ground to the left of the wall, through the keepers hands and legs and trickled into the goal.

The defence was good, not much attacking down the left but Sam & Richardson had a number of attacks down the right. After the second goal it was easy and we could have had a couple more, Mooney got in Burton's way when he was about to shoot and Bailey went round the keeper and missed from an acute angle. Mooney's best contribution was when he got injured and went off!

There were about 1,300 of us and we sang, applauded and shouted our way through the game, Manchester police completely overreacted and had about 50 police watching us. The atmosphere was brilliant with all the emotions from "we are going up" to "we're going to Wembley". In summary the defence was very good, the midfield Ok the attach poor and the the fans brilliant!
  • Evening from the Pendolino. Great to be there, especially for those magic 15
minutes. Racon had a good game, it was his close control that led to the first. Difficult windy conditions but we were never troubled.good result going into the playoffs. We can beat Swindon and I also fancy Town against Millwall. We are still standing tall, you hear me? Get everyone down to the Valley week on Monday!

  • Phil Thompson very complimentary about the midfield and the fans on Soccer Saturday. Not so impressed with our strikers!
  • We spoke to Sam Sodje after the game. He said he had a knee twinge during the warm up and so was withdrawn as a precautionary measure. He promised he'd be there for the play offs.

Good to hear, should Llera be dropped though? Sodje is usually more reliable but then we might have not got a second goal with him on the pitch.
  • Well down Parky and the team. It's been a long and difficult season but we got over the line and into the play-offs - largely due , I think , to the number of clean sheets we managed in the final month the season.

Ten clean sheets in the first 38 games, but then five more in the final eight games. Take a bow, Darren Randolph. If he had been given the gloves instead of Ikeme earlier in the season, might things have turned out differently?

I'm confident we can beat Swindon over two legs. And then if we get Millwall in the final, I'm convinced we can do them, too. Wouldn't fancy our chances over two legs at The Den and the Valley, but at Wembley I reckon it's a dfferent script...
  • Back from Oldham, great performance atmosphere was good at times although it was ashame that some of our fans were more interested in a bunch of teenagers than what was happening on the pitch!

    Very confident about the playoffs,
  • Didn't go as I was saving pennies for the play-off away game.....for 12 mins I was seriously pissed off with myself!.

Can see the semi going to penalties.

Also think the winner will play Huddersfield.
  • Just back what a game, if im honest i wasnt expecting to go up but when the news came in (good on the guy with the radio) that we were up at that point i think everybody thought that maybe just maybe it might happen. Was a great atmosphere today and really glad i went. Their goalie... oh dear my nan could of saved that one. We played well and deserved their win. Swindon on friday cant wait

na na na na na na na charltons going up going up charltons going uuuup.
    touch wood

I had the radio route one!

Felt like I had a lot of responsibility. I can't understand why two or three times some Charlton fans were cheering when nothing had happened though!?

Oh, its you Thom. Thought I was famous for a second there
  • Great Atmosphere and all round acceptable team performance after a bit of a shaky start,mIdfield did well,we struggled a bit up front and didn't think Llera did much, would rather sodje took his place.

The applause from everyone at the end will give the players a massive boost going into the play offs.

  • Month ago we we weren't going anywhere, we've turned it around now though, we solid at the back and going forward we look like a threat.

Swindon over 2 legs is very doable, especially with the 2nd leg at The Valley.

In all fairness it's always going to happen when you get pelted with stuff half the game. I got hit by a coin and there were several season ticket books, programmes and other stuff littered on the netting/gangway.

Great performance. Great result (thank god we did our bit or we wouldn't be able to live with ourselves). Great support there... bring on the Play offs

    COME ON YOU REDS!
  • Just got in and very pi**ed what day that was, thought we had blown it again but credit to the lads for coming from one down with 10 men with half an hour left on the clock, we knew you, and the pikeys were winning and the last ten minutes seemed to last an eternity. As i posted yesterday i have enjoyed the banter on here this season and i do honestly wish you well in the play offs and that you get promoted.
  • well done to leeds, to come through with ten men, 0-1 at home in front of a full house and with a "bottlers" tag... can't ask for more
  • Quality day yesterday, didn't expect to get promotion and as others have said Swindon in the play offs with the 2nd leg at home is probably the best option for us. Really hope that huddersfield can beat millwall as well.
Oldham must have the youngest set of fans going. all their lot giving it were about 12 years old!
  • Credit to Leeds for turning it around when the pressure was on.

Yesterday, after a big cheer, the bloke behind me told me that Leeds had gone 2-0 down. 10 minutes later I was told that it was 1-1 and that the spanners had also taken the lead. Que sera sera.........

Oh and yes, the Oldham mini-hooligans were hilarious! Some of them had clearly had too much Sunny Delight as well!

yeah there were a few wind up merchants weren't there - i remember going mental in the first half cos everyone seemed to think rovers were one up, only to find out nothing had happened.

oh well, confident about the playoffs so long as we can keep it tight away from home. COYR! Won't be able to afford the away leg (and not a season ticket holder so probably won't be able to get a ticket) - does anyone know what tele channel it's on? or if they'll do a beamback? or open the pubs at the valley?
  • It's on Sky Sports 1 and you can watch it in the Millenium Suite at The Valley for which you need to book free tickets from the club
