Neat and tidy although very average imho. Did well when he played around xmas and would have been worth keeping if we could have afforded to as back up to Semedo.
He's shocking. One of the worst players to play for us during this debacle. Wasn't he rude to a Charlton Lifer on the way back from Ireland as well - surely shoudl have had his contract terminated for that alone !!
The thing that always strikes me reading these threads is how so many peoples opinions on a player completely differ.
Kind of shows why signing players is a matter of opinion and someone who is the first name on the team sheet under one manager can't even get on the bench under another.

better than Racon in my opinion who is sooooo over-rated.
LOL! It's not April 1st Mr Large
most ridiculous comment I've read on here in a long, long time....
Not that ridiculous. Spring is a tidy player and Racon blows hot & cold. Your post may highlight Large's point that 'Racon is soooooo over-rated.'
so, what did Racon do this season. One goal in the last minute in a defeat at Bristol Rovers where if he'd decided to shoot earlier in the game we may not have lost. Can't remember too many assists. Can't remember too many attempts on goal. He came alive in a ten minute cameo in the last game of the season and that was his best performance of the season. He is capable of so much more but fails to deliver. If Spring had played as many games he'd have scored more goals. When Spring played he never let us down, Racon did plenty. If Racon left we wouldn't miss him.

Im inclined to agree Racon is overated and for me spring deserved a fairer crack last season
This may sound weird but bear with me- I think Racon is technically the bteter player but I'd rather see Spring in the team. Does nayone agree with me?
I thought Spring was a decent tidy player, nothing special but we're really not going to have anything special in League 1. I remember sitting on halfway in the Johnstones Paint Trophy last season and due to the lack of atmosphere I could here the players on the pitch and Spring was none stop vocally. We'd fielded a young side that day and he was superb in helping them out and really looked a decent leader.

agree
[cite]Posted By: Dazzler21[/cite]We won't miss spring either IMHO.
I think lazy is wrong, Racon covers a lot of ground. What I think is ultimately the problem is that he hasn't got a great footballing brain when in comes to unlocking defences. He can dribble all day, do tricks here and there and is packing a pretty decent shot (which he very rarely uses). But he has no pass forward, I think he's a bit "head down and run" but when he hits a brick wall the pass is sideways or backwards. Semedo is or sideways passer so having 2 in the middle means we rarely create goals from that area so there has been more emphasis on Sam to do it. Now he's gone you'll really see how much we miss him.

Absolutely agree with you analysis of Racon. I also thinks he lacks concentration and thats why he drifts in and out of games. Always get the feeling he is one of those people that nevers watches football or likes it but is really good at it.
I see Racon as more languid than lazy ...... and in my book there's certainly a difference.
But agree, he'd be a more effective player with a bit more fire in his belly.
He was very good coming back from injury in our doomed Championship season - and seemed to combine well with team mates and getting in good advanced positions. But that was predominantly in a 4-5-1........ as was his brilliant displays last season in our 6 wins on the trot start.
And when he came on for his cameo in the home Swindon playoff game, he was hugely effective playing in a more advanced position. Maybe, that's where he needs to play?

I think that was down to it being a big game, and having a bit more space (10 v 10 and tiring players).
I thought Matt Spring was very sporting in his congratulating Chris Solly, at the end of tonights game.
He was genuinely pleased for him. They obviously got on well during his time at the club.
Shame it didn't work out here for Spring, too much competition in the middle of the park.
Comments
About right. Fully expect him to score the winner against us on Sky.
he couldn't have.
he is contracted to us for another 6 hours.
He'll bust a gut for the cause though.
If Akpo scores 15 goals for us this coming season, I won't care how shocking people think he is.

you are probably right
hasn't gone yet, may yet stay.
I'm not holding out hope, it's the hope that kills ya!
