I used to be proud

to say i supported Charlton Athletic,we were the model, not any longer. It's got to the stage where i am questioning whether i want to keep going. Not because I have fallen out of love with Charlton, but because I am fed up with feeling angry walking out of matches, feeling angry with players and the management. It wasn't supposed to be like this.We were
a special club we were fighters we were all in it together.Where the bloody hell has it gone

  • It has gone tits up and you know what: It is going to get worse before there is any chance of it getting better.
  • I'll keep going, because after all it would get alot, lot, worse if a lot of us stop supporting the team. I'm not sure what makes me want to travel to Bristol on a monday night, but if we don't make playoffs that will may fade away.
  • know how your feeling mate
  • When the gash being served up is putting the likes of steve off going, you know there is something seriously wrong.
  • Many rose tints have gone lately - it's now a love - hate thing.
There's been quite a few of us in this state of mind for many years - so bloody long we've missed the good times, even under curbs.
I think it's a way of protection from being hurt?
Years of away games and weekenders ruined by Charlton - But still had a laugh!
Back then, if we won, that was a bonus!
    The drink did help!

That's why Oohaah, Bacon, Cheeserolls, Falconwood, Glass half, (me) and thread are like they are, but still supporters none the less.
Many others feel like this? Probably not.
  • a) you're getting old Steve

    b) don't try & kid yourself times haven't been bad before

This club would have to cease to exist for me to not support it. Some may say I won't have to wait long......so be it. Until that day, whatever league, it's CAFC until I die.
  • As i said i hate feeling angry with the players, and im fed up feeling angry with myself for feeling angry with the players.
If you know what i mean Arry
  • Give me another 30 years till i'm your age Steve and I may feel the same.
  • feck me if your wearing cordruoy jackets now christ knows what you will be wearing when your my age ;-)
  • part of what makes falling in love with a football club like Charlton Athletic is the rebounds from being at a low point. When Charlton got the Valley Back and when Charlton got promoted to the Prem, would not have been such an amazing feeling for Charlton fans had we not been playing our home games at Upton Park for so many years and travelling away to venues like Grimsby Town. Ive been there. Watching my first home Charlton Game at Upton Park and watch Stuart Balmer grab the winner against lowly Grimsby Town couldnt compare to the heights of a 4-1 Arsenal thumping in 2003 or finishing 7th in the prem. If your a real Charlton fan then you will be here for the long haul, if your considering walking away form this club now, you were never a fan to begin with and you should consider a Palace season ticket!
